Fire Spell by T.A. Foster (Guest Post/Giveaway)

Thank you to Reading Between the Wines for hosting Fire Spell today as part of the launch tour. As you know, Ivy Grace, the heroine of the Ivy Grace Spell Series is an author of several novels. I sat down with Ivy for an exclusive interview that I’m excited to share with you today. She rarely grants press access, so this is a treat!

TAF: Ivy, your last screenplay work was with Masquerade. Are there plans for any of your other books to end up on the big screen?
IG: I’m working on something a little different right now. It’s really going to surprise my book fans. I try to write the story as I feel it and not worry so much about whether Hollywood will pick it up. Right now, I can’t really say what will happen next as far as screenplays go. I'm trying to wrap up my latest novel.

TAF: Your characters are unforgettable. Where do you find the inspiration to create them?
IG: I usually take a page out of real life. I try to make my characters as realistic as possible by working in real situations.

TAF: Are you saying your characters are real people?
IG: Oh no, I’m not saying that. Only that I find inspiration in people I observe. To me, capturing those moments is what makes my books a little different than some others you might have read.

TAF: Can you give us a hint about your latest project?
IG: I can say that it’s unlike anything else I’ve written before. Other than that, my publisher has sworn me to secrecy.

TAF: I understand you are trying to complete that novel. When you’re not writing, what are you reading?
IG: I travel for research so often I don’t have much time to read. I’m a big fan of the classics and I love historical fiction. In the summer I love a good beach read. Mrs. Dalloway is one of my all-time favorites along with Gone With the Wind. Can’t go wrong with either of those. I’m a Southern girl, even when it comes to my literary choices.

TAF: You must take some time off from work. What do you do in your downtime?
IG: Sullen’s Grove is an amazing place to live, and there are tons of fun things to do. I have a dog, Cooper. We spend time at the park. I also take a lot of weekend trips to my family’s beach house. You know, typical girl stuff. I love to shop and hang out with my friends. It’s not glamorous, but I love it.

TAF: At the Masquerade premiere, I couldn’t help but notice you were on the arm of your editor, Jack Coleman. Do you two spend a lot of personal time together?
IG: Jack is an amazing editor—absolutely the best. He’s extremely professional and we both work well together. I’ve been lucky to have my books in his hands. Very lucky.

TAF: Thank you so much for taking the time to answer some questions today.
IG: I had a blast. Thanks for having me. Make sure to be on the lookout for my next book announcement. I think it’s going to surprise everyone!
