Neither of them can afford a forbidden affair.
Yet it's the one thing they are powerless to stop.

It will only take one hint of a rumor to destroy everything they’ve worked so hard to achieve... and in this case the rumors are true.

#Interview with Linda Howard and Linda Jones of After Sundown

Imagining the worst is something that everyone does and with the climate changes we’re seeing, it’s easy to believe the premise of AFTER SUNDOWN could happen. But what would it really be like in a small town post apocalyptic-episode? Let’s pour some wine for our guests today and find out!

Lexi: Welcome and congratulations on the publication of AFTER SUNDOWN! This book starts with Sela’s normal life before it’s upended. And there’s also a thriller aspect to it, so Sela’s normal life in a tiny, sleepy town in the Smokey Mountains is tinged with something bad’s coming. How did you come up with the something bad that’s headed her way?

Linda Howard: We plot on the fly, meaning we don’t know what’s going to happen until we get to that point. In the initial planning stages we’d thought the people in Wears Valley would be most threatened from the outside, by gangs trying to plunder their meager supplies. But when it came down to dealing with the most logical threats, that would’ve been from people they knew, people who were already there. Every neighborhood has a troublemaker — or twenty. Right?

Linda Jones: We did a lot of research on solar storms, after we came up with the idea for the initiating event. The possibilities are endless, and if you get caught up in “what if” it can lead down a very scary path. While a solar storm this devastating isn’t likely, it could happen. The trick was to find a way for our characters to not just survive, but thrive. We weren’t looking to write a truly apocalyptic novel, though an event like this one would be very different in some places than it might be in a small town like Wears Valley.

My Favorite Places with Kat Martin of Pivot

Over the years, I’ve written a number of blogs about my favorite places.  I just discovered a new one so I thought I would tell you about it.

I’ve never been a big fan of the desert.  I do love the Saguaro cactus, the red rock mountains, and some of the incredible vistas.

But the small town of Prescott called to me as no place in the Sun State ever has.  Perhaps it’s the combination of beautiful mountains, which being a Montanan I love, and the rugged Old West history of the town.

The Palace Saloon on Whiskey Row is one of the oldest in the country.  It’s got a mile-long bar and an old-fashioned back bar, and even has batwing doors!  The folks inside come to work in Wild West costumes, giving the place an even more authentic feel.

From the New York Times bestselling author of the Marked Men series comes an irresistible and suspenseful romance between a tough Texas Ranger and his first love--a woman in danger who insists she doesn't need his protection.

Hill Gamble is a model lawman: cool and collected, with a confident swagger to boot. Too bad all that Texas charm hasn't gotten him anywhere in his personal life, especially since the only girl he ever loved has always been off-limits. But then Hill is assigned to investigate her father's mysterious death, and he's forced back to the town--and the woman--he left behind.

When Hill left Loveless, he broke Kody Lawton's already battered heart. And now that he's working on her father's case, avoiding him is impossible. She can handle Hill and her unwanted feelings--until he puts his life on the line to protect her. Suddenly, Kody realizes that Hill could be taken away from her...for good.

Kimberly's Thoughts:
Kody and Hill have history, the kind where Kody was engaged to Hill's brother and Hill harbored a secret love for her. Kody resented Hill for taking a step back from her and his brother and after his brother killed himself, Kody barely wanted to speak to Hill.
Now that they're older and Hill is assisting in the investigation into Kody's father's murder, there is no escaping each other.
They've had a painful past but maybe there's love in their future.

The Olanders embody the American dream in a globalized world. Jaya, the cultured daughter of an Indian diplomat and Keith, an ambitious banker from middle-class Philadelphia, meet in a London pub in 1988 and make a life together in suburban California. Their strong marriage is built on shared beliefs and love for their two children: headstrong teenager Karina and young son Prem, the light of their home.

But love and prosperity cannot protect them from sudden, unspeakable tragedy, and the family’s foundation cracks as each member struggles to seek a way forward. Jaya finds solace in spirituality. Keith wagers on his high-powered career. Karina focuses relentlessly on her future and independence. And Prem watches helplessly as his once close-knit family drifts apart.

When Karina heads off to college for a fresh start, her search for identity and belonging leads her down a dark path, forcing her and her family to reckon with the past, the secrets they’ve held and the weight of their choices.

The Shape of Family is an intimate portrayal of four individuals as they grapple with what it means to be a family and how to move from a painful past into a hopeful future. It is a profoundly moving exploration of the ways we all seek belonging — in our families, our communities and ultimately, within ourselves.

Kimberly's Thoughts:
When tragedy befalls a family, blame and grief widen the cracks and isolate the remaining members. A mother who misses her culture, a father who is a workaholic, and a daughter who is searching for an outlet for the pain. The Shape of Family is an intimate portrayal of how lost someone can get when a loved one is taken away and how families can grieve together and separately, trying to find their way back to one another.

Release Celebration for Inherent Lies, Blood Secrets Book 2 with Alicia Anthony + #Giveaway

There’s no better way to celebrate the March 17th release of Inherent Lies, Blood Secrets Book 2, than among friends at Reading Between the Wines. I’m excited to be here! And although some of us might still be detoxing from our St. Patrick’s Day hangover, I thought it only fitting to discuss something we can all appreciate…a downright good beverage metaphor.

But for those of you who may have missed out on the first book in the series, a little background in the form of a blurb might be useful:

Read an #Excerpt from Bayside Fantasies by Melissa Foster + #Giveaway

52730710. sx318 sy475 Bayside Fantasies
(Bayside Summers #6)
by Melissa Foster
Kindle Edition, 1st edition, 450 pages
Published March 18th 2020 by World Literary Press
Fall in love at Bayside, where sandy beaches, good friends, and true love come together in the sweet small towns of Cape Cod. Bayside Summers is a series of standalone steamy romance novels featuring alpha male heroes and sexy, empowered women. They’re fun, flirty, flawed, and easy to relate to.

Tegan Fine has never had a plan—life, business, or otherwise. But she’s always had goals—to laugh daily and to pay it forward as often as she is able, just like her favorite uncle always did. After inheriting her great-uncle’s amphitheater, Tegan makes a risky move to a charming small town on Cape Cod to carry on her uncle’s legacy and hopefully expand the business with her new friend, Harper. Unfortunately, those goals aren’t doing much to help her plan a business strategy for her new endeavor. With Harper counting on her and her uncle’s legacy at stake, she swears off all distractions, determined to succeed. If only she could stop bumping into a certain arrogant, witty, and excruciatingly hot businessman who tweaks her nerves and invades her every thought. Including her late-night fantasies.

Self-professed workaholic Jett Masters never slows down. He lives life with no attachments—except to his clients, to whom he gives his all. A reluctant trip to his hometown has him itching to shake the ghosts of his past and get back to spinning deals and adding to his investments. But when he comes face-to-face with a gorgeous, handsy woman who is quite possibly the snarkiest and most disorganized person he’s ever met, sparks fly, and his sharp mind stumbles. He doesn’t even know her name, but he can’t get her out of his mind.

A chance encounter turns into a wild, sexy night, and their chemistry is off the charts—even if their ideals, and their lives, are worlds apart. Neither Jett nor Tegan is looking for more. Becoming friends with benefits seems like the perfect solution. But when they are trapped together in torrential weather, they work side by side in the aftermath, and every passionate kiss deepens their connection. Secrets are shared, trust is built, and no promises dare be made. As their lives move on, lines begin to blur, hearts get hurt, and their true selves come into focus. Tegan and Jett are left wondering if they make the perfect storm, or if they’ve reached the end of their bayside fantasy.

Flaws Make the Man in Christi Caldwell’s In Bed with the Earl + #Giveaway

Flaws Make the Man in Christi Caldwell’s In Bed with the Earl

My newest release, In Bed with the Earl, features an unlikely Regency hero. He was born to nobility, was kidnapped, and grew up in the roughest streets of London, as a ‘tosher’…a sewer scavenger. Nothing about Malcom or his past is in any way conventional, but he also represents how our pasts shape who we are. And there is no doubting, his past molded him into who he is… a man who doesn’t let people close…and who protects what he does have. Which is why…when he does meet Verity, someone who wants to be close for him (first, for reasons related to her work…and then, the more she knows him, simply because she’s falling for him) he resists.

Q&A with Catherine Bybee of My Way to You + #Giveaway

Today we are sharing an interview with author Catherine Bybee and her publicist, promoting her new release. Find out more about My Way to You below!

Please tell us about the fire that inspired your newest novel My Way To You.

I was taking my youngest son to his senior pictures for the school when we noticed a plume of smoke in the rearview mirror. I have lived through many fire scares in the twenty years I lived in my home. Only this time, it wouldn’t be a false alarm.

You had to evacuate your house because of the fire. How did you feel in those moments?

I was thankful my children and I escaped, and terrified that I would come home to nothing but ash and debris. I’d packed up the cars with pictures and things I felt I couldn’t replace, but had to leave one of my cars behind because the fire engine was blocking my ability to drive it away. But none of that truly mattered. I felt like all the work I had done to keep my children’s family home after my recent divorce was for nothing. That fire was going to undermine the stability I had desperately tried to preserve. In short, I was an emotional mess.

Q&A with Lauren Layne of Yours in Scandal + #Giveaway

Today we are sharing an interview with author Lauren Layne and her publicist, promoting her new release. Find out more about Yours in Scandal below!

Tell us about your new series.

The series features three men who are named “Man of the Year” (think: People’s Sexiest Man Alive) and the unexpected ramifications that come with that! Yours in Scandal kicks off the series with a young, wealthy mayor of NYC who falls for his political rival’s daughter.

Why was it important for you to start your series with Addie and Robert?

The real answer? There’s is the book listed first in the contract ;-) In truth I’m equally excited about all three books in the series, and could have happily jumped in anywhere! That said, writing a politician was a unique and fun challenge for me (I tend to write a lot of businessmen!) so a new take on my “hot guy in a suit” was a fun creative challenge!
