I would especially like to thank our fabulous authors who participated: Jacquelyn Frank, Juliana Stone, Eliza Knight, Laura Kaye, Julie Ann Walker, Lissa Kessler and Emma Cornwall. And give a special shout out to Juliana Stone, Laura Kaye and Lisa Kessler for writing fantastic new scenes with their characters just for our party! You ladies rock! XOXO

Halloween Character Costume Party with Lisa Kessler of Night Thief! (Character Post/Giveaway)

Well lovelies, all good things must come to an end and our Character Costume Party is winding down. Thank you ever so much for joining us! But before we go, every good Halloween party needs a masquerade and Lisa Kessler has provided just that with this special scene with Rita and Kane from her new release, Night Thief! So grab your sparkly, feathered or bejeweled mask and enjoy!

“Welcome to the Masquerade, Crystal.” Marguerite brushed a light kiss to each cheek of the book blogging goddess and smiled. “Kane is opening more wine at the bar… Enjoy!”

She watched Crystal walk away, her gaze connecting with her husband’s. Her pulse raced.

When they planned this Halloween Masquerade party, it had been her idea that they recreate the clothes they wore the first night they met in 1840. Seeing him now in the coat and vest, his formal shirt and tie hanging hopelessly open, and his blond mane tied back in a leather thong, she wanted nothing more than to go to him, to dance, and keep him to herself.

Halloween Character Costume Party with Emma Cornwall of Incarnation! (Character Post/Giveaway)

It's here, it's here! It's finally that day folks! Time for the witches and goblins, princesses and fairies, and all of those fantastical creatures to roam the streets free. It's Halloween! And what better day to have a vampire join our party. Hmm...or perhaps something a little more celestial?

Lucy Weston from Emma Cornwall’s “Incarnation”

What does a reluctant halfling vampire still trying to come to terms with her new nature don to celebrate Halloween?  After coming forward to reveal the circumstances of my transformation into a child of the dark, I am definitely in need of a respite.  There are Halloween parties galore all over vampiric London but what to wear?  Obviously, fangs would be a terrible cliché.   I don’t look terribly good in black so that’s out, too. I have a wardrobe stuffed with lovely ball gowns but they are mostly from my pre-transformation days and something tells me that showing up at a vampire party disguised as a human might not be the best idea.  That leaves…

Halloween Character Costume Party with Julie Ann Walker of Rev It Up! (Character Interview/Giveaway)

And the party keeps on rolling! I hope everyone is having a good time so far, as your hostess please let me know if you need anything. Cocktail? Feathered mask? Tall, sexy, tattooed rabbit? Ah, I see we have a winner! Well then, please give a loud hot and holler for author Julie Ann Walker and her +2 from her release, Rev It Up

Hi, all you romance fans out there!  I'm Julie Ann Walker, author of the bestselling Black Knights Inc. romantic suspense series, and I'm happy to be on Reading Between the Wines, talking to Jake "the Snake" Sommers and Michelle "Shell" Carter about love and life.  So, without further ado...

*Jake and Shell knock and enter office*

Me:  Come in, come in!  I'm so happy to be talking to you two today. *eyes costumes with raised eyebrow as couple settles into chairs*

Jake:  Yo, we gotta make this fast.  Shell and I are already late for a Halloween party at Red Delilah's Biker Bar.

Me:  So, I see. *snickers*  And, let me guess.  Roger and Jessica Rabbit?

Halloween Character Costume Party with Laura Kaye of One Night with a Hero! (Character Post/Giveaway)

Welcome back to our Character Costume Party guys and ghouls! Would you like your glass of witches brew topped off? How about one of these mini spider cupcakes? Be sure to leave some room though because now we have an extra 'magical' treat for you from the stunning and sensational, Laura Kaye, who has brought along some guests from her new release, One Night with a Hero!

I’m thrilled to be back at Reading Between the Wines Book Club to celebrate Halloween and the release of my brand new contemporary romance, One Night with a Hero. There’s actually a quite prominent (and hilarious!) Halloween scene in this new book, but I thought I’d create an exclusive *brand new scene* that might just have happened during Brady and Joss’s second Halloween together! Enjoy:

~*~*~*~*~*~*~

“Good run?” Joss asked as Brady came in the front door from his nightly exercise routine. Butterflies tore through her stomach. She had a plan for the evening, and she really hoped it worked.

He smiled at her. He did that a lot more freely now, and it melted Joss’s heart every time. “Yeah. Cold out though. Nicky still asleep?”

Joss loved how much he doted over their almost six-month-old son. “Yep. He’s conked out.”

Halloween Character Costume Party with Juliana Stone of To Hell and Back! (Character Post/Giveaway)

Welcome back! Joining us for the party is one of my favorite people, paranormal and contemporary romance author Juliana Stone! She has brought along two of her fabulous (and much-loved by moi') characters for some dress-up fun from her League of Guardian series, Kira and Logan!

Deleted scene from TO HELL AND BACK

“Okay,” Kira said, encouragingly.  “It looks good on you.”
“Good on me,” Logan replied, irritated and pissed off.  “This looks good on me.”
“Well, yes, I mean, for what it is…for what we are.”
Logan stared at the woman he loved.  A woman, who in the space of only a few days had somehow managed to get him to do something so incredibly stupid, that he’d throw himself back into the pit, if anyone found out about it.
She grinned.  She bit her lip and cocked her head to the side in that way that drove him crazy.  “The good thing is that with your dark coloring, pink looks good on you.”
“You’ve got me dressed in a fucking corset,” he growled.  “What part of this looks good?”
She smiled devilishly and licked her lips. “The pink part?”
With a growl, Logan strode toward Kira and yanked her up into his arms.  She couldn’t go anywhere, not that she wanted to. But since she was less than half his size and human, she didn’t stand a chance.
He was a hellhound after all.
A hellhound in a fucking pink corset.
“Tell me why we need to do this again?” he asked darkly.
His eyes took her in, greedily roving over her tiny frame.  Clad in a plain dress, and a sweater, with big round glasses clutched in her hand and a copper colored wig on the chair near the door, she looked like a sexy little school teacher.
“Because the Halloween party has a theme and you promised to take me.”
“And what was the theme exactly?  Male prostitutes  R us?”
“Rocky Horror, silly. The girl in the costume shop said yours was the most popular.”
“I highly doubt it.”
His mouth reached for her and he kissed her thoroughly.  “Why don’t we stay in and I’ll show you exactly what Rocky Horror does to the poor little human.”
Kira slid out of his arms and whispered.  “If you’re a good hellhound and do this for me, I’ll make sure tonight is a night you’ll never forget.”
She laughed, her eyes glistening and that piece of steel inside Logan melted.  He was gone.  Whipped.  He would do anything for her.
She led the way to the door and bent over to grab her wig, her bare bottom teasing him as growled in reaction.  Kira grinned over her shoulder and whispered, “I promise.”

I fell in love with Logan and Kira in Wrong Side of Hell. They have one of those love stories that just instantly captures your heart and sticks with you long after the book ends. Thankfully though, that wasn't the end of their story...

Halloween Character Costume Party with Eliza Knight of The Highlander's Conquest! (Guest Post/Giveaway)

Welcome, lovelies, to Day 2 of our Character Costume Party! Today we have the wonder, Eliza Knight, joining us with her sexy kilted hero, Blane, and his book The Highlander's Conquest! Why would you want to de-kilt a Highlander though, unless you're 'researching' what they really have under that kilt? You'll have to read to find out!

Halloween is coming! Let the disguising, candy stealing and trickery begin!

I went to a Renn Faire this past weekend and bought a beautiful bodice and skirt to wear as a medieval “lady” and my husband will be dressing up in the kilt I made him. We’ll be the characters from my books! It can be fun to dress up as somebody or something else, what will you dress up as?

In the 13th century Scottish Highlands, my beloved characters would be celebrating Samhain, the Gaelic festival marking the end of the harvest season and the coming of winter—also known as the darker half of the year. Spooky sounding, huh? The people would light magnificent bonfires, dance, drink, feast, throw the bones of livestock into the flames and they’d invite the souls of the dead to dine with them—to honor their memories.

Guest Review: (ARC) Rogue Rider by Larissa Ione - 5 Wine Glasses!

by Larissa Ione
Paperback
Expected publication: December 6th 2012 by Piatkus (first published November 20th 2012)

The prophecies were there but no one listened. Until now. They are the Lords of Deliverance and they have the power to ward off Doomsday . . . or let it ride.
Jillian Cardiff came to this remote mountain town to forget the demon attack that almost killed her. Instead, she rescues - and falls for - a gorgeous stranger who has no memory of anything other than his name. Handsome, charming and protective, Reseph seems like the kind of man that Jillian can trust. But with hints of a troubling history of his own, he's also the kind of man that can be very dangerous . . .
Reseph may not know his background, or why he mysteriously appeared in Jillian's life, but he knows he wants to stay. Yet when Jillian's neighbours are killed and demon hunters arrive on the scene, Reseph fears that he's putting Jillian in danger. And once it's revealed that Reseph is also Pestilence, the Horseman responsible for ravaging the world with death and destruction, he and Jillian must face the greatest challenge of all: can they forget the horrors of a chilling past to save the future they both desire?

Crystal L's Thoughts:
Woo-wee! Talk about one of the best books that I've ever read, where you didn't know whether you wanted to slap the hero for the atrocious things he'd done his past, or give him a hug cause he was suffering so badly now. As Pestilence, the demonic Horsemen in the first three books of this series, I can say with absolute surety that every reader wanted to beat him to a bloody pulp. Book four, Rogue Rider, however, brings us back to Reseph. Even better, we start the book with a naked Reseph lying unconscious in the snow, where he is saved by Jillian.

Halloween Character Costume Party with Jacquelyn Frank of Forbidden! (Interview/Giveaway)

LEXI: With Halloween around the corner, and the kick off of our Character Costume Party what better author to invite to stop by than the author of things going bump in the night shadows: Jacquelyn Frank!

I am loving the sound of Ram, the hero in Forbidden. He sounds like the perfect addition to any Halloween party. Though he would need a costume...so if Ram walked in on you right now naked (no, that would be Ram being naked not you) what could you throw together for a costume for him?

Today I would like to give a warm welcome to author, Ali McNamara, who is joining us with her new book and a fun tour through the town of Notting Hill!

A tour through Notting Hill, some things you'll learn (or see) in Notting Hill, London.

On your way, the eagle-eyed amongst you will spot to your right a plaque on the wall which marks the house where George Orwell once lived.
The day on which your visit takes will definitely affect how much of Portobello Road you can actually see! If you have chosen to come on a Saturday when the famous antique market is in full flow, you will quickly be enveloped and swept along through the brightly coloured stalls by the huge crowds which flood this area every weekend, out to hunt down a bargain, or their own Beavis & Butthead stained glass window as featured at the beginning of the Notting Hill movie.

Behind their passion lurks a dark truth that could destroy their love.
Mistress Matchmaker, Book 2
A mistress should never be foolish enough to fall in love with her protector, nor trust him with her financial future. Mariah Desmond did both, and now her dearly departed protector has left her with nothing.
Forced to seek another protector, she’s determined that this time, she’ll lead with her survival instinct—not her heart. But when she attends one of Vivien Manning’s infamous parties, the familiar face of her late lover’s best friend throws her for a loop.
A painful past taught John Rycroft that he’s not fit to be anyone’s knight in shining armor. His soft spot—make that a hard spot—for Mariah is precisely why he’s kept his distance. Yet the sight of her flirting with a bevy of men vying to become her next lover makes something inside him snap.
As John hauls her bodily away from her suitors, Mariah’s indignation melts away in the heat of the sizzling sexual chemistry. She quickly finds it isn’t easy to navigate John’s stormy emotional waters. Especially when his abusive father’s quest to get his son back under his thumb puts her life in danger.

Crystal L.'s Thoughts:
Whew! Jess Michaels can write a book with some smokin' hot sex scenes. For a time period known for its propriety, Michaels' has a wicked imagination on what those naughty men and women were doing behind closed doors (or not so closed doors when it's on the dining room table meant to seat 20 where even the servants can see). This book is filled with sweet lovin' sex, fast and passionate sex, super naughty voyeur sex, and at least eight other ways that my historically hawt sex fried brain can't remember.

Savage Hunger by Terry Spear (Interview/Giveaway)

Wizards of WildewoodLexi: In the spirit of the upcoming holiday, Halloween, Balthazar the Sorcerer is stopping by to talk about shifters! Welcome....oh wait...oops. Welcome the creator of Balthazar the Sorcerer and writer of shifter romance, Terry Spear!

You make cuddly teddy bears, like Balthazar the Sorcerer, and have written about some sexy werewolf shifters. Now you have a new series in which Savage Hunger is the first book, and it stars Connor a jaguar shifter. Makes me wonder, what you will be dressing up as for Halloween?

TS: LOL, your opening is so cute!!! Balthazar is waving hi to everyone!! Now, your question. This gets really difficult. I used to love to be a Medieval fairy princess. Now I probably need to be queen. Or empress has a nice ring to it. I’ve been a gypsy and the Mad Hatter before. I am going to Authors after Dark next year and to their vampire and masked balls, so I’m working on something for those! So maybe I’ll don a black velvet cape, lengthen my canines, and go on the prowl. It would be a first time for me!

Lexi: Halloween or not it is always a good time to read about sexy shifters. I am a sucker for werewolves, since I have a soft spot for wolves/Siberian huskies. That sense of pack gives them a noble feel; you know they will have your back. What’s next for your werewolf books in 2013?

In Samantha Kane’s sensual tale of wicked passion, a desperate woman must resort to burglary—but the beautiful thief ends up stealing the heart of a rogue.
The daughter of a reformed jewel thief, Julianna Harte knows a thing or two about stealth. When the foundling home she provides for finds itself in dire financial straits, Julianna is forced to do the unthinkable. In a bit of misguided Robin Hood derring-do, she slips through the window of a wealthy rake to search for a treasure she knows is there: an invaluable pearl. But when the towering and very naked occupant of the moonlit bedroom ambushes her with a bargain—a night in his bed in exchange for the pearl—Julianna doesn’t know if it’s masculine heat or sheer desperation that makes his terms so tempting.
Alasdair Sharpe had no intention of keeping his end of the bargain. Planning to offer his little cat burglar carte blanche instead, he promptly loses himself in the delights of unexpected pleasure. But when he awakes the next morning to find his family heirloom gone, fury quickly replaces sensual languor. Of course, Alasdair is more than willing to use seduction to reclaim his stolen pearl—and find the key to Julianna’s heart.

Crystal L.'s Thoughts:
Julianna Harte is the daughter of a successful thief of a father who finally married a wealthy woman and gave up his ways. But living that life growing up with her Dad she's learned a thing or two, and she's not afraid to put those skills to use to get what she needs. Which is to steal the priceless pearl of Alasdair Sharpe. If she can get her hands on it to sell, then she'll have enough money to pay the back rent on the home for abandoned children that she's helped start. What she doesn't count on is getting caught in the process of stealing that pearl by Alasdair himself.

I am a fan of tattoos and have a few of my own to show for it. However, mine are hidden away where you only see them in the summer. That’s just the way I roll.

Sultry with a Twist by Macy Beckett (Interview/Giveaway)

Lexi: If you are in the mood for a little bit of summer, help me welcome Macy Beckett, author of Sultry with a Twist!

Macy, your new adult series kicked off with Sultry with a Twist. The perfect small town, second chance, friends to lover’s kind of book. Sweet romance. Is this your favorite genre to read, or maybe it just came naturally for you to write about?

MB: Thanks for the warm welcome! As much as I love fall, I’m already missing summer, so I’m thrilled to be here today to talk about Texas in July. :-) I’m glad you enjoyed Sultry with a Twist. Yes, it’s absolutely my favorite genre to read, which is exactly why I wrote it. I tend to write the books I want to read.

Lexi: Sultry Springs seems like the ideal place to spend a summer, especially if there are guys like Luke and Trey there. Did you grow up in a small town?

Crystal L's Thoughts:

Favorite Quote: "... he was the only man in the tent, and apparently, possession of a penis qualified him for grill duty. Even worse, old Ms. Bicknocker had made him tuck his hair under a shower cap while basting and braising, so the fire's heat had soaked into his body and traveled right to his head, where the plastic trapped it inside. He'd felt like a giant condom."

Tour: Taming the Tycoon by Amy Andrews (Guest Post)

Please give a warm welcome to romance author, Amy Andrews!

Hi and thanks for having me here, today.
As a special treat I interviewed Nate and Addie about how they met and fell in love and their plans for the future.

Nathaniel, what did you think when you first met Addie?

I thought she was this boho hippy chick. She was wearing huge,
purple-tinted sunglasses and intricately plaited hair ending in
colorful beads. I'd never seen such a completely impractical hair
style. Okay for a beach in Bali, maybe, but not so much London,
despite the glorious Indian Summer we were having. And then when she
performed that citizen's arrest and snapped those damn fluffy pink
handcuffs on me...I was so busy trying to close a deal I just didn't
have time for theatrics. I wanted to strangle her. But then part of me
wanted to do a hundred kinds of wicked to her too.

Gavin McLeod is a man who has it all. His corporate climb has positioned him as the next CEO at Holden Enterprises. He’s financially stable, allowing him to provide for the grandfather who raised him, and his successful seduction of the sexy bartender last night proves his private life is also on fire. Until the alluring woman in his arms turns out to be a serious road-block to his future. One that could bring everything he's worked for crashing down around him.
Sunny Black has spent her entire life tending to the needs of others, caring for her younger brother since she was ten, and serving bar patrons night after night. For the first time in years, she thinks of herself and gives in to her body’s demands, taking a trip to the wild side with a customer whose raw sexuality is too strong to deny. The next morning, however, she learns that in addition to rocking her world, the stranger might cause it to crumble.
A game of sexual seduction and corporate chess ensues, with neither Gavin nor Sunny realizing the ending could come in the form of a permanent check-mate.

Until There Was You by Jessica Scott (Guest Post/Giveaway)

Today I would like to give a warm welcome to a fabulous new military romance author, Jessica Scott! Make sure to check out my 4-Wine-Glass reviews of her books, Because of You & Until There Was You (coming soon).

Thanks so much for having me here at Reading Between The Wines!

Crystal asked me to talk a little bit about the rank structure of the army because so many folks don’t really understand it. Honestly, when you first join up as a private, it’s a little confusing. I remember standing at parade rest (for those of you that don’t know, it’s a position where your feet are spread shoulder width apart, hands are folded at the small of your back, right over left and head and eyes are straight to the front) when I was still at Basic Training and I called a Sergeant First Class well, Sergeant First Class. He corrected me and said that the only sergeants that are not called Sergeant were First Sergeants and Sergeant Majors.

One step away from the coveted Vice Presidency of her firm, the last thing Kat Owens needs is the distraction of a man. Her client, Erik Monteague, disagrees. He’s charming, sexy, seductive, and impossible to ignore or refuse. After succumbing to his advances, Kat’s forced to choose between her career and the man she’s fallen for... while knowing even her love might not be enough to save him from self-destructing.
While Erik’s perfectly executed seduction gets Kat into his bed, the end result is more than he bargained for. Having spent the past ten years wallowing in guilt and self-loathing over his fiancée’s tragic death, falling in love is unacceptable. However, Kat’s passionate, loving nature dissolves the carefully constructed walls guarding his heart, forcing him to face his tragic past and make a decision... spend the rest of his life running, or risk being devastated by love again?

Crystal L.’s Thoughts:
Let me just say that giving a five wine glass toast is not something I do often. So, not only am I thrilled to give this book the proverbial five star because it was an extremely well written book that pulled at the heart strings, but also because it's an indie author with a self pubbed book! Thank you Alannah Lynne for such a great story!

My Brave Highlander by Vonda Sinclair (Interview/Giveaway)

Lexi: It’s fall, there is a new chill in the air. What better way to keep warm than to wrap up in a plaid! Our guest today, Vonda Sinclair, has written some hot highlanders that would be perfect to curl up with on a crisp fall day! Welcome Vonda!

Vonda: Thanks for allowing me to visit with you today, Lexi and Crystal! I agree with you. A plaid-wrapped Highlander would be the best to snuggle up with on a cool fall day or night! LOL Highlanders are used to the cold, unlike me (a thin-skinned American.) Their hot, muscular bodies are probably like heaters.

Lexi: My Brave Highlander is book three in your Highland Adventure series. First, I have to ask. Does Dirk, the hero in My Brave Highlander, really have red hair?

Yes, he does indeed have red hair. Scotland has the highest percent of red-haired people of any other country, so it is reasonable to imagine that some of those hot highlanders must have red hair. Dirk has a fiery, passionate temperament to match, both on the battlefield and in the bedroom. He is one fearsome, battle-hardened warrior. To go with his hair, he has piercing pale blue eyes… a glare from which has made many a man tremble in fear. J
