For ten agonizing years, Alec Westwood has been keeping a secret from the world. At nineteen, he nearly committed the most horrific of crimes—murder in cold blood—and narrowly escaped the assigned task with his life. When a stunning young woman crosses his path wearing the insignia for the underground organization that recruited him, he vows not to let fate get a second chance. But when the enchantress gives him a kiss that leaves him spellbound, Alec realizes the power she holds is greater than all his strength and fortitude combined…
On the run from her psychotic fiancé, Lena Benson vows to forge a new life, even if that means befriending a witch, and practicing the craft of the devil. But when her new friend Jack tells her to stay away from Alec Westwood, the man she believes her fiancé hired to track her down, and the handsome stranger she kissed in a tavern, Lena vows to take matters into her own hands. Alec may have the charm, but she’s calling the shots this time, even if that means resisting the man responsible for giving her the most intimate kiss of her life, a man who’s eyes and touch rob her, literally, of sense…

Renee’s Thoughts:

This story starts out with a very young Alex Westwood making the choice to kill. He is given a target and he changes his mind. At the very last minute Alex can't do it. So ask yourself at 19 could you make that choice? There is Alex making a choice and at the same time trying to live without being compared to his brother, Colin. But o matter what, he feels that his brother always over shadows him. For a while, all Alex does is live in fear and look over his shoulder, doing what he can to avoid his brother while leading a calming life.

Enter Lena Benson who is hiding too. Lena is hiding from her fiancé, Lucas Ramone, and trying to start over. This is the part where I question the location in New Hampshire. It seems very unlikely this corner of the northeast has anything resembling a mansion, and actually not a place I can see Lena trying to blend into. That was the big thorn in my side. Being rescued by a local did not sit well with me. Lena goes in search of a job and goes to a nursery to take care of kids. A place where a background check is necessary, just out of character for her I guess. Ok rant is over. When Lena appears she gets under Alex’s skin right away because he sees her wearing the insignia of the organization that recruited him as a hit-man. Lena's convinces herself that Alex is here to kill her. Basically nobody can trust anybody here and then the plot thickens.

Can Lena dream about a "happy ever after"? Will Alex come out from under his brother's shadow? So many secrets are exposed and then the rumors fly!  I think it is a mystery with a little sex and romance thrown in. So I would say if you like mysteries and a good covert operation hunk then read it!

I had a few small issues with the location and the plot so to be completely honest I rate it…
