Tour: Truly, Madly, Deeply, You by Cecilia Robert (Guest Post)

Please give a warm welcome to author Cecilia Robert!

Taking it to the next level.. my best friend, be my lover

Thank you for hosting me on Reading Between The Wines, Crystal.

I enjoy these kind of stories where two who have been best friends for years, decide to move to the next level: Lovers. There is an advantage to that: they know each other’s likes and dislikes, their faults, quirks, hobbies. To be honest, I think if they’ve managed to stick together after finding out about each other’s dirty little secrets, they’ll stick around for the long haul.
So what happens when one of them has feelings, and has always had them, but was afraid to express it, afraid to get rejected?

Makenna James thinks her day can't get any worse, until she finds herself stuck in a pitch-black elevator with a complete stranger. Distracted by a phone call and juggling too much stuff, the pin-striped accountant caught only a glimpse of a dragon tattoo on his hand before the lights went out.
Caden Grayson is amused when a redhead literally falls at his feet. His amusement turns to panic when the power fails. Despite his piercings, tats, and vicious scar, he's terrified of the dark and confined spaces. Now, he's trapped in his own worst nightmare.
To fight fear, they must both reach out and open up. With no preconceived notions based on looks to hold them back, they discover just how much they have in common. In the warming darkness, attraction grows and sparks fly, but will they feel the same when the lights come back on?

Tour: The Marriage Contract by Lisa Mondello (Guest Post/Giveaway)

Please give a warm welcome to romance author, Lisa Mondello, who is joining us on her tour for The Marriage Contract with a wonderful post and a surprise giveaway!

Thank you for having me on the blog today.  As a thank you, I am giving away a copy of THE KNIGHT AND MAGGIE’S BABY to one commenter.  So don’t be shy.  Leave a comment for a chance to win!

Characters or Plot by Lisa Mondello

Does the story dictate what the characters will do or does it come out of the characters themselves?  There has much debate about this among writers and readers.  What do you think?

For me, depending on the kind of story I’m writing, a certain amount of the story will come exclusively from the characters.  Those character driven stories tend to be very emotion, with characters struggling to overcome an internal wound, a past loss or to overcome a fear that has kept them from moving on with their lives.  Most all of my contemporary romance stories are character driven in this way, whereas my suspense stories have an equal billing of character and plot.

Jolene’s Thoughts:

True Highland Spirit by Amanda Forester (Guest Post/Giveaway)

Today I would like to welcome back historical romance author, Amanda Forester, who is joining us with her latest Highland release, True Highland Spirit. Make sure to check out Lexi's review of this novel also!

What NOT to do in a Kilt
by Amanda Forester

Kilts.  You gotta love them.  Where else would you find such a bold fashion choice but the Scottish Highlands?  I must admit part of the lure of writing (and reading) Scottish historical romance is all about the kilt...or perhaps what's under it.  The potential for plot twists using the kilt, particularly when writing a romance is, well, bottomless (please forgive - couldn't resist)!

Yet there is a downside to wearing a kilt, particularly if the man is traditional about the wearing of the kilt and has naught but his birthday suit underneath.  Bending over, climbing ladders, updrafts - all of these present a particular problem.  As part of a public service campaign against unintended disclosures related to kilt wearing, I scoured the internet looking for good educational material.  Boy, did I get an eye full.

A HEATED RIVALRY...

Morrigan McNab is a Highland lady, robbed of her birthright and with no choice but to fight alongside her brothers to protect their impoverished clan. When she encounters Sir Jacques Dragonet, she discovers her fiercest opponent...

IS GETTING EVEN HOTTER...

Sir Jacques Dragonet will give his life to defend Scotland from the English. He can't stop himself from admiring the beautiful Highland lass who wields her weapons as skillfully as he does, and endangers his heart even more than his life...

Lexi's Thoughts:

True Highland Spirit is a tale of mystery, love, and faith. Forester brings the Highland’s to life through Morrigan and Dragonet, a Highland lass who is a warrior and a french knight who has sworn his life to God.

Tempted by Blood (Sweetblood, #3)
Forget these little pixie kisses, he needed to be inside her, claiming her. A sudden surge of strength rippled through him. His lips crushed hers as he unzipped his pants and rolled over on top. Shoving up her nightshirt - his shirt - to her waist, he saw that she didn't have panties on. Good. He'd have just ripped them off, anyway.

Assassin's In Love by Kris DeLake (Guest Post/Giveaway)

Today I would like to welcome author Kris DeLake, otherwise known as Kristine Kathryn Rusch, who is joining us with her recent release of Assassin's In Love! Make sure to check out Lexi's review of this novel as well. Enjoy!

How To Date An Assassin
Kris DeLake

Does anyone voluntarily date an assassin? I mean, really, how many people admit on an online profile—oh, yeah, and by the way, I kill people for a living. Or can you imagine someone saying that over dessert at a fancy restaurant?
What do you do for a living, Tom?
I kill people, Jane. And you?
Naw. Just doesn’t work.
And yet, for some reason, I’m attracted to characters in the darker professions. I like characters who have shades of gray in their make-up. I’m really not fond of black-and-white at all.
Which is where Assassins in Love comes in. Rikki and Misha do go on a date. Kinda. But their meet-cute is over a dead body, and Misha already knows what Rikki does for a living. He disapproves, but not because of her job. Because of the way she does it. He doesn’t think she’s by-the-book. She agrees: she thinks the book should be tossed.
So Assassins in Love does show assassins on a first date. But the key word here is “assassins.” Clearly these two people have something in common.
And neither of them is shocked by the demands of the profession.
It’s not quite a match made in heaven. But Rikki and Misha make for an explosive combination.
Assassins are human, and they do fall in love.
Sometimes they even fall in love with each other.
And sometimes they fall in love on the very first date.

Lexi’s Thoughts:

A good assassin must always be alert but shouldn't have much to fear. Authorities can be avoided or bought, blending into a crowd comes in handy for errands, and living by yourself in a fortress has its perks. What one would worry about though is if another assassin comes knocking.

Tour: Rise From Darkness by Ciara Knight (Guest Post)

Please welcome adult and young adult author, Ciara Knight who is joining us on her book tour for Rise From Darkness!

Romance in Young Adult Books:

News flash, teens are having sex. Yes, I said it. As a mom of a soon to be high school student I’m not excited about this fact, but it’s true. So, should we continue to avoid the subject in young adult books? I’ve struggled with this often. In book I of my Battle for Souls series it was an easy decision because they had just met, but when I went to work on book II this subject became more of a challenge.  Would a teen couple, who is madly in love and have been dating almost a year, still not be having sex?

I touched on the subject in another young adult book and received a critique that stated I HAD to delete the insinuation that my characters would be having sex. It wasn’t on screen, it didn’t actually happen yet, but it was a BIG deal.

Desire is in session.Rachel Delaney, divorced mother with two boys, isn't complaining. Her life is fine. Really. There is one thing that could make it better, though: a strong, warm, male body to help her make it through the occasional lonely night. No strings, and no relationship, thanks. Just a little fun with a perfect stranger. And there's no more perfect a stranger than Rand. He's tall, blond, unattached, smokin' hot, and looking for the same thing Rachel is: wild, abandoned sex with no limits, no last names, and no complications-until Rachel's eldest son gets in trouble in class.Only then does Rachel discover that her down-and-dirty, dangerously sexy mystery lover is also the new school principal. They're not exactly the ideal role models for a troubled student acting out his own frustrations. With Rachel's life turned upside down, Rand's the only one who can make it right-by maybe taking their hot-bodied hook-ups into a warm-hearted new direction...

True Connections by Clarissa Yip (Guest Post/Giveaway)

Please give a warm welcome to author Clarissa Yip, joining us with her new romance release - True Connections!

Finding True Love

It’s funny how love happens.

You never know when the love bug will bite you. As a child, I’ve always envisioned my Prince Charming riding in on his white horse and carrying me away to a land where I didn’t have to do chores or go to school or listen to my parents nag about what I should become when I get older.

As a teenager, all those boy crushes became disappointments when society influences one’s perceptions.

As an adult, I was meeting the wrong guy and wishing I could turn back time and change things, but who am I kidding?

Does true love even exist?
