Missie’s Thoughts & Description:

I bought this short novella from Amazon and had it quickly read the same day.  This book was a wonderfully romantic, steamy and a downright great read. I have to mention that I completely loved the cover. It was dark and sexy just like the book.  It is an Adult Contemporary Romance with a steam factor of 3 out 5 stars (Rated R). The story flowed off the pages and I just devoured it. It will leave you fanning yourself, dreaming of dark places with a certain mystery man.  The story is not my normal Paranormal Romancer and it actually contained normal, everyday humans for a wonderful but brief change for me.

The plot unfolds as Makenna James is on her way out of her office, after a very depressing and hard day at work.  She heads to the elevator and a man holds the doors open for her. As she quickly gets inside, she drops her cell phone just outside the doors. Grabbing her phone just in time before the doors shut behind her, Makenna realizes that her battery is missing from her phone.  As she pushes the button so the elevator will head back up stairs, it goes completely black.  She in now trapped in an elevator with a complete stranger at the end of a much messed up day.

I honestly don't want to reveal too much about this short story, but I can tell you that the characters are wonderfully written and the way they came together was amazing.  The way Makenna helps Caden deal with his claustrophobia is sweet. Caden is a wonderful character with his tattoos and piercings, yet he is an honest, trustworthy and sweet man on the inside. This story confirms that appearances can be deceiving.  Caden and Makenna share stories about themselves and realize how much they have in common, leading to a night of passion in a bad circumstance.  Will she still feel the same way towards Caden when the lights come back on?

I couldn't put it down and had it read in less than 2 hours. I hated the fact that it ended. It left me wanting more.
I have to say it was worth the price I paid for it and I recommend this book whole heartily. I feel you would be missing out if you did not read this touching romance and Laura Kaye now has me as a devoted follower .

  1. Great review Missie! A 5 rating and a "I couldn't put it down." means this is going in my TBR list. That and I have been wanting to read something by Laura for a while. I love how they have to get to know each other without the benefit of sight.
