A sexy category novella from Entangled's Indulgence imprint.

Determined to make his latest preservation project on Route 66 a success, Connor Gibson will take any good press he can get. Even if it means spending a week with a reporter. And even if it’s one from a publication he has good reason to hate. Connor certainly isn’t expecting a spontaneous and undeniably attractive blonde who makes him seriously hot for the press...

Charlize Beckett is in deeeep trouble. This is her one chance to prove to her publisher dad that she's a serious journalist, even if she has to pretend she's someone else. Worse though, is trying to maintain any objectivity with the way too charming Connor. She can't help but get into all kinds of sexy trouble with him. But by going off the record, Charlie is putting both her reputation and her heart on the line...

Linda's Thoughts:
Oh, crap.
The last person she wanted to run into this morning when she had to be super-professional was Hot Pool Guy. Before she had a chance to hide behind a plant or something, his gaze connected with hers and held her hostage.
He flashed a smile and headed her way. Shit. She got to her feet thinking she'd say a quick hello before telling him she was meeting someone and excuse herself. Look away from those amazing dark eyes before you get yourself in trouble. She forced her attention down.
And found a logo on the breast pocket of his white polo shirt.
Word.
Heritage.
Fund.
Kill her now.

HIS MILLION DOLLAR RISK by Robin Bielman is a not-to-be-missed, colossally fun and fabulous contemporary romance! Robin hit it out of the ballpark with this one! It's a winner! Both the story and the characters are really good! I thought the conservation message interwoven through-out the tale was very well done also. HIS MILLION DOLLAR RISK is the third installment in Robin's Take a Risk series, but it can be fully enjoyed as a standalone even though there are appearances by previous characters and an interconnected story thread. HIS MILLION DOLLAR RISK is the story of Connor Gibson and Charlize "Charlie" Beckett.

Connor, our alpha hero, is president of field operations for the World Heritage Fund (WHF), the largest and most influential nonprofit organization dedicated to heritage protection. He's stubborn as can be and always punctual and serious. His current almost completed "baby" involves the preservation of the history of Route 66 while restoring some notable businesses and landmarks along the famous route that extends from LA to Chicago. Connor hates reporters but he agrees to spend one week with a reporter from Natural World to garner good publicity for how successful this project has been for the WHF.

Charlie, our carefree and innocent heroine, is the daughter of the owner and publisher of Natural World. Connor describes her as Goldilocks in the flesh right after he was walloped by her bikini top in a poolside accident  - which is the unique way the two met. Charlie was at the trendy Sunset Hotel in Scottsdale, Arizona with her best friend who worked for Natural World as a reporter. Her friend had been assigned the plum job of riding Route 66 with Connor to get the story. Her friend, unfortunately, suffers a ruptured appendix, so the story is off unless Charlie can take the assignment - which she decides to do. But, instead of being honest with Connor, Charlie assumes the identity of her friend. She believes this is her one chance to prove to her publisher dad that she can handle serious assignments. But... will her little white lie come back to bite her? You betcha'.

There were sparks flying between them from the moment they met and the longer they're together, the hotter it gets. Their romance is sweet and hot and I loved reading their story.

One of my very favorite scenes took place on a Ferris wheel. This is an excerpt from it:

"I've always had this fantasy of being at the top of a Ferris wheel with a gorgeous guy and having him kiss me."
"Really? That's your fantasy?"
"One of them." She narrowed her eyes, but it didn't diminish their light.
"And I fit the bill?" he said, unable to stop himself from moving his stare to her mouth. Christ, he wasn't expecting her to say any of that, but now that she had, he had the urge to fulfill all her fantasies.
"You asked." She shrugged and started to turn away.
He caught her jaw and tilted it up to his. "Do you want me to kiss you?"
Long, dark eyelashes reached the arch of her brows. "We shouldn't"
"That's not what I asked."
She squirmed, her breath caught.
"Yes," she whispered.

Doesn't every girl dream of a kiss on a Ferris wheel? I know I did... :-)

I had so many favorite quotes, it was hard to pick just a few. I picked three more but I can assure you that there's plenty more awesomeness where these come from:

Charlie brought her dandelion to her mouth. "I've heard that, too. But this happens to be something I've done a lot and it's easy. Just take a deep breath, put your lips together, and blow." She closed her eyes and blew. When she lifted her lids, she found him watching her.
Or rather, watching her mouth. She let go of the flower stem and swallowed. "I'm thinking those lips of yours could make any man's wish come true."
---

"You are so going down for that." He grabbed the keys and headed back to the road. "When you least expect it," he added over his shoulder.
"I'm shaking in my shoes," she called out.
"You're not wearing any."
"Exactly."
Damn, he liked this girl.
---

With a gentle touch, she brushed the hair off his forehead. "I was sort of hoping you'd be a little more relaxed today."
He took her hand and kissed it.
"I'm very relaxed."
"Finally?" She raised her eyebrows and snuggled closer.
"You feel a little stiff."
And getting stiffer by the second. He had zero control around this woman. "We should probably do something about that."

Robin's writing, as always, is top notch! This highly entertaining book will leave you with the warm fuzzies, for sure. This book makes me want to get in the car and drive Route 66. If you are looking for a book with lots of laughs, smokin' hot chemistry, and an ending that will leave you giddily happy, look no further than HIS MILLION DOLLAR RISK! I can't wait for book four in this series, ONE NIGHT OF RISK!
