Please give a warm welcome to author, Heather Lyons, joining us with her recent release of A MATTER OF FOREVER. This is the 4th book in the Fate Series!
One of the questions I get a lot from readers is, “Why did you decide to write about twins?” See, my Fate series centers around a pretty tough love triangle that features identical twins in love with the same girl. I mean, it’s not bad enough that brothers are after the same girl, right? I had to go and make them twins. Identical twins.
So . . . why twins? It’s easy. I wanted to make it difficult. Haha! No, really. I remember watching a special on twins when I was younger that talked about how eerily close identical twins are, and how they oftentimes can feel or sense things about their sibling. Biologically, they start as the same egg, splitting later, meaning at one point in their existence, they were one. I’d thought about a story starring twins for a long time, and actually even wrote a draft of a story featuring them, but let it go for quite some time. But then several years ago, the concept of a girl being in love with identical twins came itching back in my mind, and I knew it wasn’t going to let me go so easily. To me, that would be such a difficult situation to be in—the twins would naturally be close, so to be torn between your other half and somebody who has stolen your heart seems like an impossible situation, right? In a lot of ways, the Fate series is just as much about the relationship between Jonah and Kellan Whitecomb as it is Chloe Lilywhite’s story. These two start the series as best friends and slowly, horribly grow apart, all the while desperate to reclaim the relationship they’ve counted on their entire lives. And during A Matter of Forever, the last book of Chloe’s arc in the series, it becomes one of the central themes. To me, it’s a fascinating journey.
