Deep within the Yucatan jungle a demon has awakened...
Gretchen Finch's job would be much easier if she weren't alone in the jungle with a brilliant recluse whose every glance sets her on fire. But the more she focuses on her work, the closer she gets to unlocking the mysteries of a terrible creature - the Night Demon - that threatens the world as she knows it. Though her scientific mind tells her it's impossible, she's beginning to believe the ancient Mayan tales as the sinister jungle comes alive around her.
Lukas Smith has spent hundreds of years searching for answers to his immortal Night Walker nature. As a series of ancient glyphs become clear, he's about to find out more than he'd ever hoped, but the more he learns, the more his fate intertwines with the Night Demon, and the harder it becomes to hide his immortal secret from the beautiful, intelligent Gretchen.
Together, they must find a way to stop the inexplicable violence and mass destruction surging across the earth before the Night Demon destroys more than just mankind.

Thoughts:
OMG! I am soooo hooked on Lisa's Night Walkers. I want, want, want one of my own! LOL!

Lukas has led a tortured existence as a Night Walker, a "life" he did not choose. He believes he may finally be on the right track to finding a way to commit suicide - something he has unsuccessfully tried many times - as the Mayan glyphs around a sacrificial altar deep in the jungle seem to describe a Mayan rite in which a Night Walker dies.

Gretchen is an archaelogist who has been working thru her University helping Lukas interpret ancient Mayan drawings. She believes she is doing this for educational purposes and has no idea that she may be aiding her associate in ending his "life."

Their relationship on the surface appears to be strictly professional ... but both are masking feelings that become evident as what had been their routine is threatened by an evil force that neither understands.

The story takes place in the Yucatan peninsula and in California with flashbacks to other times and places. Thrills, Chills, Adventure, Romance, History... this book has it all!

I would highly recommend that the 1st two books in this series be read 1st not only to enhance the contiguity of the story, but also because characters in the 1st two books are an integral part of this book: Calisto and Kate from Night Walker AND Kane and Rita from Night Thief. What a treat!

I can hardly wait until the next book in this series... WooHoo!
