FINDING HAVEN by T.A. Foster (Guest Post/Giveaway)

Please give a warm welcome to T.A. Foster joining us with her new adult contemporary romance, FINDING HAVEN!

Movie Star Power

There definitely is a fantasy element to having the main character of Finding Haven be an irresistible Hollywood hunk. I’ve had a lot of questions surrounding whom I used as a model to write Evan Carlson’s character. One of the fun elements of writing pop culture into my books is that I can use a collection of inspirations. Here are my top five influential male celebrities for Evan Carlson.

1.    Ryan Gosling
Besides the obvious good looks, Ryan was one of my main celebrities from the first time I wrote about Evan in Cover Spell because of his diverse acting career. Like Evan, he’s stared in political thrillers and serious period romances. His romantic involvement with co-stars has always been popular with the press. He also took a three-year acting hiatus, which I think Evan could certainly relate to.

2.    Zac Efron
Although he’s a little younger than Evan, there are aspects of Zac’s career that are similar to Finding Haven’s leading man. He has worked to both cherish his Disney fans, while trying to broaden his acceptance as a more mature actor. Evan encounters quite a bit of typecasting because of his female fans and his good looks. He definitely relates to the issues Zac has faced. There is also constant media speculation surrounding his personal life.

3.    Kenny Chesney
While Kenny hasn’t appeared in films, his songs speak about trying to escape his stardom. Like Evan, he escapes to the islands where he can be a beach bum and disappear among the locals. The words from his music were particularly helpful building Evan’s character.

4.    Bradley Cooper
Evan wasn’t the first sexist bachelor. Bradley held the post as “Sexiest Man Alive” by People magazine. I remember several interviews with Bradley when the magazine gave him the title and he always seemed to joke through them. His casual attitude toward his stardom was something I was able to use for Evan.

5.    Ian Somerhalder
The mere mention of Mr. Smolder-halder makes girls swoon. Ian’s personal life became very public when he and co-star and girlfriend, Nina Dobrev, called it quits last year. Watching him handle the paparazzi frenzy over his love life gave me ideas for how Evan would deal with that situation. I wanted to explore how someone who lived a very public life would handle something so painful in a private way. Ian’s influence is going to be an even bigger part of the Finding Haven sequel.

Now that you know who helped shaped the hot, flirty Texas star, do you have any other celebrities that remind you of Evan Carlson?

Finding Haven
by T.A. Foster
Power. Money. Control. Love.
He has all but one.

When movie star, Evan Carlson, discovers his girlfriend’s picture with another man splashed on the cover of gossip magazines, he decides he’s had enough of his fishbowl life and attempts to outrun the media frenzy his relationships have become. Driving until the road stops, he ends up on the remote and quaint Perry Island, where a heartthrob can blend in like the locals and be a beach bum as long as he wants. All that changes when Evan meets Haven Owen, aspiring songwriter and the girl he just can’t get enough of. A summer romance turns into something much deeper and Evan gets tangled in his own web of lies to keep Haven in his life. But when his ex tracks him down, Evan learns there are some things you just can’t outrun.

Is the cost of love, losing all control?
