Nevan's life is nothing but duty and honor. The eldest son of a prestigious House, he has a life mapped out ahead of him, including mating a woman for whom he feels nothing but brotherly affection. But then one night he discovers a woman who makes his blood boil and his body hard. Seena has known nothing but blood and pain in her life. A fighter for the BloodRing, she is nothing more than spectacle, her life and death meaningless except as entertainment for the masses. Then one night a male comes to her in secret with a bargain the likes of which she has never been confronted with. The ultimate fight, which will lead her either to freedom...or to his bed. Nevan will allow nothing to stop him from possessing the human. On the Pleasure Satellite anything is permissible, and to the strongest goes everything.

Thoughts:
Wow! I thoroughly enjoyed this short, sci-fi novella. It was definitely different and a far cry from my normal reads of late!  It had a good plot, interesting characters including quirky, macho aliens and a warrior human, and sizzling HOT sex.   It's a stand-alone book and not part of a series.

First off, this is not a tale for youngsters!  It's unquestionably in the erotica genre.  However, it was a fun read with a clear plot and not just sex, sex, sex.  It's set in the future in a land far, far away with realistic characters.   I love the world that the author created.  If you enjoyed Star Wars - and who didn't? - you might see resemblances to the characters that were on Tatooine in Star Wars, and to the atmosphere in Chalmun's Cantina, and with the sport of pod racing and its associated shysters.

Our hero, Nevan, is shackled by duty to his family.  He is a noble, rich and handsome, and is to be married to a woman who is like a sister to him.  Deep down, he longs for a true mate, if only for a short time.  While attending a Blood Ring fight event, Seena, an enslaved female human warrior, catches his eye.  He cannot stop thinking of her and as a last fling before his betrothal is set in stone, challenges her to a private extreme fight.  If she wins, she gains her freedom;  If he wins, he gains her body.  He is the ultimate virile warrior machine and doesn't even consider the possibility of losing.  As he explains his challenge to her:  "I am not noble. This is not a ruse to free you. The only thing I want is you underneath me, willing and wild. Do you understand?"  She accepts his challenge and the fight is on.  The only question is who will be the ultimate loser?

Seena has been enslaved since she was very young.  She's an accomplished fighter, has never lost a bout and puts on a great show for the sport's fans.  She brings in a lot of money to her handler.  She's known nothing but abuse  all her life but her spirit is strong.   I liked Seena a lot!  She's a survivor and I was pulling for her!

Once I started this book, I couldn't put it down.  I enjoy reading a good out-there sci-fi and this ranks as one.  The author has some surprises in store, so buckle your seat belt as you're in for a ride!  The happy ending is a tickle-me-pink moment that took me totally by surprise.    Wowza!
