Business Pleasures by Lia Davis (Guest Post/Giveaway)

Please give a warm welcome to erotic romance author, Lia Davis!

Close to home

The inspiration behind Business Pleasures was to tell a story of a woman’s gain of independence and how she learned to love and trust again. Domestic violence is real and effect so many women, and men. It doesn’t always involve physical abuse. Emotional and verbal abuse are just as painful. The only difference is the scars are warn on the inside.

I was a victim of emotional, verbal, and sexual abuse from my first marriage. Married out of high school with a baby on the way. Thought life was great. Until about six months in. It started off slow. And I truly believe that if I had stayed, it would had turned physical. I was young and naive and thought it wasn’t abuse because he didn’t hit me. I was isolated from my friends that weren’t his friends. He broke down my self-esteem. My only life were my kids.

I didn’t leave at first because I was afraid of be alone. Because I as kept inside “his” bubble. Then there was the kids. They need their father, right? Not if he’s a deadbeat abusive ass.

My wakeup call was when he spent 2 weeks in jail for drug possession. I was on my own for two weeks. No one telling me that I’m worthless and no one spending my money. I filed for divorce and got out.

About a year and a half later I met my current husband. He showers me with everything I didn’t have. I’m now pleasantly spoiled and cooed over like a woman should be. We think alike, even finish each other’s sentences. We’ve been together for almost 14 years now and in love as much, if not more, than the day we started dating.

Aimee’s story is based off of my happy ever after. It is not my story, but similar in the fact that she found her strength and independence with the support of her family. Her hero is everything she deserves and more.

There are happy ever afters for abuse victims.

Excerpt:

When he’d first saw her in the short black dress with the red lace wrap, he couldn’t find words.  The way her long black hair hung loose around her shoulders begged him to run his fingers through the silky strands.

Pulling into a parking space, he put his Lexus in park and turned off the engine. Damn it, he felt like he was in high school again.

He stepped out of the car and rushed around to the passenger side to open her door before Aimee could. He held out his hand and smiled when she took it and allowed him to tug her to a stand. “There’s one thing I have to do before we go inside.”

She tilted her head slightly and narrowed her gaze. “What’s that?”

He lowered his head and pressed his lips to hers. She stiffened for a moment, but when he brushed his tongue against the seam of her lips, she relaxed and opened for him.

Their tongues tangled in an erotic dance as their mouths moved against each other.

Aimee melted against him and he wanted to take her straight to his place so he could have her all to himself. The selfish side of him didn’t want to share her with his friends tonight.

Breaking the kiss, he stared into her green gaze and smiled. “That was hotter than I expected.”

She laughed. “You have away with words, Mr. Romantic.”

The corner of his mouth lifted. “Sorry…”

She pressed a finger to his lips, stopping him from swallowing his whole foot since he’d already stuck it in his mouth. “Shush. That’s what I admire must about you. You’re honest and don’t sugarcoat things. We should go inside. The Camptons are probably here already.”

He kissed her forehead and stepped back. “You’re right, as always.”
