Behind the Author: Tracy March (#Giveaway)

Contemporary romance author, Tracy March, is joining us today for our BEHIND THE AUTHOR special! Please give her a warm welcome and enjoy this peek behind the author of THE MARRIAGE MATCH

I love writing stories—bringing characters and settings to life. And when I’m not writing, I’m busy building new ideas and discovering just the right places to set my novels. Whether it’s hiking or biking or challenging a ropes course, I love being outdoors and active. It’s twice the fun if I’m visiting a place that’s new to me, or even a familiar one, that I can poke around and explore.

Always up for travel and adventure, I’ve flown in a stunt plane, snowmobiled on the Continental Divide, ziplined in the Swiss Alps, and been chased by a bull in the mountains of St. Lucia—and  I’m always asking, “What’s next?”

Last year, my husband and I planned a vacation to the Colorado Rockies with the goal of hiking from the Victorian mining town of Crested Butte over the mountains to Aspen. We knew it would take some training, for sure. In late February, with my husband as our “coach,” we started hiking distances to build endurance, and found that we enjoyed the together-time even more than the exercise. After a while we brought along backpacks with extra gear to get used to the weight we’d be carrying on our big hikes. We worked up to frequent 12-mile hikes, and included as many challenging hills as we could find in mostly flat Yorktown, Virginia. By August, we were ready to go!

After arriving in the Colorado mountains, we took a few days to acclimate to the altitude then went on a couple of practice hikes building up to our big day—a trek to Scarp Ridge, and a climb up majestic Mount Crested Butte to its rocky top. Maneuvering over rocks and boulders on all fours wasn’t something I’d trained for, but we made it to the peak!

Displaying West Maroon Wildflowers.JPGFinally the day of our hike from Crested Butte to Aspen arrived. We made it to the West Maroon Pass trailhead before sunrise. The trail is heralded as one of the top five most scenic in the United States and as the dawn gave way to daylight we quickly found out why. Rocky peaks soaring against an electric-blue sky, swaths of colorful wildflowers blanketing the hillsides, crystal-clear streams flowing into waterfalls, and groves of Aspen trees with silvery leaves shimmering in fresh mountain breezes. Breathtaking—literally. Because the air is super-thin at 12,500 feet, and we live and trained at sea level!

Displaying West Maroon Hike.JPGWe had an awesome, top-of-the-world time on our big hiking trip. I’m sure some of my stories will be inspired by our time in Colorado. Every book I’ve written has been based on a locale that I’ve enjoyed visiting. My new release, The Marriage Match, sweeps you away to the islands—the Bahamas, Turks and Caicos, and Jamaica—for a romance in the style of The Bachelor.

I’m thrilled to see what travel, adventures, and stories this year will bring. Meanwhile, I’ll keep on writing, and I hope you’ll keep on reading!

Hot bachelor seeks bride…

Resort tycoon Trent Hawthorne is looking for a wife. His all-business, no-nonsense grandmother (and the matriarch of the small town of Maple Creek) has selected three potential brides―all beautiful and approved. Each “fantasy date” will take place in a lush Caribbean setting, filmed like a reality show to promote the Hawthorne family’s chain of resorts. All of Trent's hopes for love combined with a clever marketing gimmick…what could possibly go wrong?

As it turns out, all it takes is a kiss. A sizzling, sweet-as-sin kiss. But Cynthia Sawyer isn't one of the bachelorettes, and she's definitely not supposed to be making out with her boss's sexy grandson. Not to mention it's strictly against company policy. But Cynthia has her own reasons for hooking Trent up with a bride who isn’t her as soon as possible. And losing her heart is a price that she's willing to pay…
