Top 10 Favorite Movies Set in London
By Chanel Cleeton

1. Love Actually

Why I love it: I saw Love Actually for the first time in a London movie theater after my first semester there. I was so in love with London and this movie represented so much of what I loved about the spirit of the city. It was nearly Christmas and I’ll never forget how magical the city is during the holidays. I watch it every year and I always get a bit nostalgic. It’s the ultimate feel-good movie!

2. V for Vendetta

Why I love it: This is one of the coolest movies ever and definitely one of my all-time favorites. I watch it annually on Guy Fawkes Day (November 5th) and love it more each time. If you like action movies, this one has an extra historical and political twist that makes it special.

3. Bridget Jones’s Diary

Why I love it: In high school I developed a love of all things London. Bridget Jones’s Diary played a HUGE role in that. I read the book and fell in love and then saw the movie and fell even more in love. It’s funny and sweet and was such a huge part of my formative years. Also, it was inspired by Pride & Prejudice. Plus Colin Firth and Hugh Grant? Win.

4. Layer Cake

Why I love it: I’m a sucker for a smart, sexy action movie and this one definitely fits the bill. It shows a seedier side of London but one that’s just as much a part of the city as the glossy bits. Also Daniel Craig is perfection.

5. Snatch

Why I love it: Just like Layer Cake, this movie is full of action but it’s also sharp and funny. I love how interconnected everything is and the story keeps you completely enthralled. And if it doesn’t, Jason Statham definitely will :)

6. About a Boy

Why I love it: Hugh Grant. Just kidding. But honestly, yeah, probably Hugh Grant. I think this is his best performance. The movie is funny but it also completely tugs at your heartstrings. The ensemble cast does a phenomenal job!

7. The Prestige

Why I love it: This movie is twisty and dark and completely captivating. It’s full of suspense and literally, magic, and the writing is amazing. If you’re looking for something fresh, this is a great one to try. Also, Christian Bale.

8. Sliding Doors

Why I love it: I love the idea of how the little moments in life can define the path we end up on. I also love the idea that some things are left up to fate. This is a romantic movie that plays on these themes beautifully.

Trailer:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWCTEOnvsI8

9. An Ideal Husband

Why I love it: I love historicals and with this one having the added bonus of Oscar Wilde’s wit, it’s an absolute win for me. The writing is obviously sharp and the characters are charming and engaging.

10. Notting Hill

Why I love it: This is such a fun and charming romantic comedy. Hugh Grant is adorable in it and I love the almost reverse Cinderella story. It’s the perfect feel-good movie and has an awesome soundtrack.

London Falling
(International School #2)
by Chanel Cleeton
Expected publication: July 7th 2014 by Harlequin HQN

We weren't a relationship, we were a ticking time bomb...

Maggie Carpenter walked away from the hottest encounter of her life when she left the seductive glitz of England for summer break in her South Carolina hometown. Now that she’s returned to the International School in London—and sexy, privileged Samir Khouri is once again close enough to touch—she can’t help but remember the attraction, the drama … the heartbreak.
She can’t help but want him even more.
Samir can’t afford to fall for someone so far removed from his world, not when his time in London is running out. It's his senior year—his last chance at freedom before he returns home to Lebanon. There, he’ll be expected to follow in his father’s footsteps—not follow his heart to Maggie. But when a scorching secret hookup becomes a temptation neither can resist, they’ll both have to fight to survive the consequences … and find a future together.

Don’t miss this explosive sequel to I See London, and the riveting conclusion to Maggie and Samir’s story. This is a New Adult romance recommended for readers 17 and up.

AUTHOR BIO:
Originally a Florida girl, CHANEL CLEETON moved to London where she received a bachelor’s degree from Richmond, The American International University in London and a master’s degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Chanel fell in love with London and planned to stay there forever, until fate intervened on a Caribbean cruise, and an American fighter pilot with smooth dance moves swept her off her feet. Now, a happily ever after later, Chanel is living her next adventure in South Korea.
Law school made Chanel realize she’d rather spend her days writing sexy stories than in a courtroom, and she hasn’t looked back since. An avid reader and hopeless romantic, she’s happiest curled up with a book. She has a weakness for handbags, her three pups, and her fighter pilot husband. Chanel writes New Adult contemporary romances and thrillers.
She is the author of I SEE LONDON and LONDON FALLING, published by Harlequin HQN, and FLIRTING WITH SCANDAL, the first book in a new NA series to be released by Berkley in 2015.
