Alejandro “Alex” Cortez vowed never to return to the family farm, but when his sister makes it the destination for her wedding, he has no choice. The farm’s new owner, sexy agricultural professor Dr. Susan Gundersen, is his only hope for a diversion from the haunting memories.
Susan knows better than to count on people sticking around for her. The farm gives her the roots and permanence she’s craved her entire life. As she helps Alex clear out his family’s mementos from the house, Susan is drawn to the raw and vulnerable man under his carefree exterior. A few kisses later, she falls hard and fast.
Despite their mutual attraction, Susan will never leave the farm and Alex will never consider staying. Will one passionate night with the best man give them the courage to face what they each fear most or drive them apart forever?
Hell yeah, Alex Cortez wanted to be the best man at his sister's destination wedding. A party in Jamaica or maybe Bora Bora. Bring it on, baby.
Then Luciana had hit him with the real destination: the dilapidated farm in Iowa where they'd grown up.
Except he couldn't decline, not after she'd waited a full year while he completed his last tour with the Marines so he could attend.
ONE NIGHT WITH THE BEST MAN by Sara Daniel was an enjoyable return to the world of the One Night With The Bridal Party series. It is the fourth book in the series; I have read the previous three books in the series. It's an erotic, short, quick read as all the novellas in this series are.
ONE NIGHT WITH THE BEST MAN can be read as a standalone if that is your preference. However, there are interconnected characters and I feel that the story of how these characters have been brought together thanks to magical dating guru Madame Eve was presented better in the former installments - so it would enhance your enjoyment of the series, if it was read in order. The recommended reading order is as follows:
• ONE NIGHT WITH THE BRIDE
• ONE NIGHT WITH THE BRIDESMAID
• ONE NIGHT WITH THE GROOM
• ONE NIGHT WITH THE BEST MAN
• ONE NIGHT WITH HER HUSBAND
• ONE NIGHT WITH HIS WIFE (releasing 12 June 2015)
Following please find a few of my favorite quotes from this erotic read:
"Are you ready to go to the bedroom?"
"I thought you'd never ask." He winked.
"If you're so into backsides, you should have become a doctor, so you could see a new one every day."
"I don't want to see everybody's," he said from behind her, so close his breath brushed her neck. "I have standards, and let me tell you, in those tight jeans, you've met and exceeded every one of them."
"Spoon with me, and I'll show you what a good cuddler I am."
While I enjoyed reading this installment, it was not quite as fun for me as the others had been. With the others, I was able to instantly connect to the characters as they all had prior histories together, but I had a bit of trouble with this story's characters' chemistry. They'd previously met... but they'd never had a prior relationship, just some flirty glances. Also, the hero came across as somewhat of a jerk at times. I thought the heroine, on the other hand, deserved better. Even with all that, I am still glad I read it and plan to read the rest of the series. Yes, the series has been that good!
I'm so glad that Sara has continued with her One Night Stand novellas. They are perfect for picking up when you just want a fun, sexy and entertaining fast read! ONE NIGHT WITH THE BEST MAN is a must-read for fans of the series. For those new to the series, start with book one at the beach or in your easy chair. I'm sure you'll want to read them all once you have!
