Welcome to Vegas. Home of the Sin City Collectors. The job description is easy: Bring the offending supernatural in to the Boss and don’t ask any questions.

Nevada Hamilton has learned a few things since becoming a Sin City Collector, and staying away from vampires is one of them. After botching her first Collection, the vamp getting away after causing as much damage as possible, she hasn’t been assigned to another one since.

But when she receives her next playing card, she’s in for a surprise. Not only is a vampire her next target, but they’ve paired her up to make sure she gets the job done right. Refusing a Collection is not an option, but when she discovers who she’s working with, making the mission as difficult as possible for her new partner becomes her top priority…

Being a hellhound isn’t enough to protect Jake Troubadour from Nevada Hamilton, no matter how thick his skin is. Finding out he has to work with the beautiful dhampir, after not seeing her for three years, is a low blow—but Jake is a professional. He takes his Collections as seriously as he does running his bar. He’ll do whatever it takes to get the job done, but after that, he’s out. No more chances for the girl who wrecked his bike and scarred his soul so long ago. But even with his heart dead set against it, this hellhound quickly finds he’s not immune to love after all.

What’s Collected in Vegas, stays in Vegas...

Thoughts:
Explosive, Euphoric, and Erotic!

ACES WILD by Amanda Carlson is a Sin Cities Collector novella and can be easily read as a standalone.  Sin Cities Collector books are a new set of stories taking place in Sin City, USA, aka Las Vegas.  They are written by an assortment of popular authors.  The Sin Cities collectors are tasked with apprehending offending supernaturals and getting them to the "boss,"  no questions asked.   When I heard about this new series, I knew I'd have to check it out.

At only 107 pages, ACES WILD is a quick read that is guaranteed to keep you on the edge of your seat!  It's got something for everyone:  romance, steamy sex, danger, intrigue and non-stop action along with an intriguing assortment of paranormal characters including vampires, dhampirs, hellhounds, and witches!  I have to mention that I was drawn to the cover's opulent shades of blues and purples, my favorite colors.

Our heroine, Nevada Hamilton, is a dhampir, half vamp and half human.  Nevada has never known her father;  she was raised by her mother, an alcoholic who was never there for Nevada.  Needless to say, Nevada had issues and was literally saved from the streets by Louie, who is now her 'boss."  She's a loner and doesn't play well with others.  Nevada is a collector.

Our hero, Jake Troubadour, is a SWOONWORTHY hellhound.   This is the first book I've read with a hellhound tortured hero and, OMG, I want more!  Jake is Louie's nephew and runs a bar frequented by supernaturals.   Jake is a collector.

The story begins as Jake and Nevada have been assigned a collection as a team.   Their target is a very old, very powerful vampire.  Unfortunately, there's a few problems.  The first is that Jake and Nevada have some unresolved history.  The second problem is that their mark has an issue with Nevada.

Jake and Nevada are fire and ice.  Heck!  Nevada is fire and ice all by herself.  Despite it all, their attraction has never negated over time and instantly rekindles.  Their romance relights and is scorching hot.  It all works well within the well-defined plot and, oh my, gimme, gimme, gimme my own Jake Troubadour!

“How about you ask me something like, "What do you want more than anything?" and I reply with, "A hellhound in my bed"?”

“Neve, you're wicked," he groaned as she rocked up against him even harder.
"I hope that's not a problem for you," she panted.”

Bottomline:  I want more Sin City!  I love the premise - it's entertaining and fun!   The action was well-paced and the romance was wickedly steamy.  I inhaled it all in one sitting.  Amanda is one wonderful storyteller!  I am addicted to Amanda's  Jessica McClain urban fantasy novels and totally love her writing.  If you savor paranormal romances, don't miss out, hither now to check this tale out!
