Author Carolyn Brown Guest Interview and #Giveaway!

Dust off your cowboy boots ladies! We have western romance extraordinaire Carolyn Brown at the blog today. Welcome Carolyn!

CB: Thank you, thank you for the warm welcome. I’m delighted to be here today.

Lexi: 2013 has been busy for you! In March we saw your women’s fiction novel, The Blue-Ribbon Jalapeño Society Jubilee, then in June we saw the first book of your new Cowboys and Brides series, Billion Dollar Cowboy (followed by The Cowboy’s Christmas Baby in October), and this month, we get the final book in the Spikes & Spurs series, Cowboy Seeks Bride. Have you had two seconds to do any normal summertime things? Played with your grandchildren?

CB: I love busy…when I get bored, I get into trouble. So far this year, Husband hasn’t had to bail me out of jail one time so it’s been a very good year. Just last week, I went school clothes shopping with four granddaughters and a grand son. Then four days later two of my other granddaughters and I had a fun day shopping for clothes. Twelve granddaughters do make for a lot of retail therapy. Plus one granddaughter had a ballet recital. Next spring she’ll show her sheep at the stock show (she is our princess cowgirl…one day she’s wearing little pink ballet shoes, the next she’s got on her boots and training a sheep to do what she says).

Lexi: Oh, there is still time to land yourself in jail.
I can hear little voices arguing over who should do something they know they shouldn't and will get in trouble for...one voice calling out "You do that and Grandma will write ‘bout it.” Do your grand kids understand what you do, write stories?

CB: Oh, yes, ma’am. I have granddaughters and a grandson old enough to read my stories and they love them. And yes, the whole bunch of them definitely know that I could and would use their antics or mannerisms in books.

Lexi: Ideas sure seem to come easy to you. Do you have hopes to make the Cowboys & Brides series a number to rival your Spikes & Spurs series

CB: Not at this time. Four is the limit but then one never knows. I’m already working on the next series after Cowboys & Brides. It’s titled the Burnt Boot series and two of the heroes, Finn and Sawyer O’Donnell, cousins of the Spikes & Spurs O’Donnells, come right out of Cowboy Seeks Bride. Cowboys in north Texas, especially ranching cowboys and rodeo cowboys, tend to know each other pretty often.

Lexi: The more cowboys the better! Especially in the summer when sweaty, dirty cowboys rolling in the hay are sure to enter the daydreams of our dear readers. Which leads to...weddings! Do you have fun living vicariously thought your characters weddings, picking out dresses, flowers and cake?

CB:  Of course. One thing that readers might not know about me is that Husband and I were into professional wedding photography for about thirty years. And yes, ma’am, all that experience and all those stories do come in handy when I need to pull a scene out of the back of my mind.

Lexi: Perks of writing. :) Carolyn you are such a sweet person, thank you for stopping by our blog today. And thanks for all the cowboy love stories! Cowboy Seeks Bride will be a great summer read!!

CB: I thank you…Dewar thanks you…Haley sure enough thanks you because she’s the one who made it through thirty days when the cowboys didn’t think she’d get through thirty minutes on the cattle drive. It was a fun story to research, to write and to experience with Haley and Dewar.

COWBOY SEEKS BRIDE BY CAROLYN BROWN – IN STORES AUGUST 2013

He's Tough as Nails and Ready to Ride...Rancher Dewar O'Donnell is just an old-fashioned cowboy at heart, and he can't wait to reenact the historic Chisholm Trail ride with his buddies. The trial-run cattle drive for a reality TV show sounds like a great time—until H.B. McKay pulls up in her slick red sports car...
She's Way Out of Her Element...

Haley McKay is a feisty, high-powered businesswoman with the power suit and stiletto heels to prove it. She's keen to research her company's hot new idea for a reality TV show—but mount up with a bunch of modern-day cowboys? Are they kidding?
It's too late to back out now, so Haley sets out to prove that it will take more than snakes, storms, and stampedes to make her back down.
Besides, sleeping under the stars with Dewar O'Donnell could prove mighty interesting...

  11. I really don't have a fave cowboy in books. But growing up I sure had a crush on Clint Walker in Cheyenne, James Garner in Maverick, Clint Eastwood in Rawhide, Robert Horton in Wagon Train, James Drury in The Virginian and Lee Majors in Big Valley. Boy of boy, did I ever love those westerns! I used to dream about those guys. jdh2690@gmail.com
