Graeme Temple is nearly killed during the Cynn Cruors’ siege of Dac Valerian’s fortress on the Isle of Man, when he takes a silver bullet intended for his Dux, Roarke Hamilton. While on the mend, Graeme meets Kate Corrigan, a woman who enkindles his lust, his desire to possess, his need to protect. It is Kate who gives him a reason to be a better person than he was before.Kate is an investigative journalist who has been following a local councilman she believes is involved in human trafficking. When she meets Graeme one rainy day, the attraction she feels toward him is something she longs for but refuses to have. Kate is about to expose the councilman when her friends are kidnapped to silence her. But she refuses to let go. Knowing that the councilman can wield his extensive influence over the police, she looks for help from outside.Graeme.Thrown together, their attraction for each other becomes a passionate conflagration that will not leave them unscathed. But not all is cut and dried. Graeme finds out that the person Kate is after is the very person he has been searching for, for centuries. A great sacrifice is made that can break them apart. Will the feelings they have for each other be more than enough to get them through this storm? Will Graeme be a better man when this debacle is over, and will he be the man to break through the walls of Kate’s heart?

Excerpt:

His eyes narrowed as he looked down. He had a good view of the bar to his left and the expanse of Piccadilly Gardens and Market Street up front and to his right, respectively. Buses lined the Piccadilly Bus Station, with people getting into them to get home or go to some other destination or alighting to join the revelry of the night. Graeme saw several homeless men dragging their feet as they groped their way towards Market Street, slowly sinking to the ground by the doors of a local bank before extending their hands to passersby to ask for money. The Manchester Eye, the huge ferris wheel that dominated the centre of Piccadilly Gardens continued to turn, taking its passengers one hundred ninety-six feet up to get a bird’s eye view of the entire city, from the Roman fort a few blocks away from Deansgate and the gothic structure of the Manchester Town Hall to the Urbis centre and Manchester Evening News Arena. No one would have noticed Graeme vaulting up to the rooftop. Humans were too engrossed in seeking their own pleasure than to be aware of their surroundings.

Graeme closed his eyes to control his lust but all he could see was Kate, naked. Underneath him. Atop him. Against the wall. He couldn’t stop. Images of Kate filled his mind, making him drunk with a hunger that even frightened him. Fear? He didn’t fear anything. Until the silver bullet. Until Kate rejected him. He dug deep into his psyche, calling forth more of the iron will that was infused in all of the Cynn Cruors. Calling forth more.

The will power of a Templar Knight.

He crouched down as he waited and watched. There was no harm in imagining Kate with him. It didn’t break any rules.

Besides, thinking of her was the closest he could hope to be with her.
