She has always been his dream…
Chef Serafina Rochan believes her recurring nightmares of pursuit are a symptom of her anxiety about opening her second restaurant. But when the stalker appears in the waking world, she swallows her pride and calls the one man she trusts to go into her dreams, even if it means risking her heart.
When Marshal Harlen Fawkes receives Sera’s call, nothing else matters. Time has not eroded the power of his feelings for her. After years apart, they go Darkside together and cannot resist the longing and desire their connection evokes. The past and present collide, and Sera abandons all reservations to embrace Harlen again, if even for one night.
In order to protect her, Harlen aligns himself with disavowed friends, and in so doing is drawn deeper into the secrets and perils of the dreamwaters. As the tide of darkness rises, Harlen faces his demons…but not without Sera, who fights just as fiercely for the dream of a life together.
Dream dangerously.

Thoughts:
Darkly Delicious Courtesy of the Chef!

DARKSIDER by Erin Kellison is the third release in Erin's Reveler series.  I would highly recommend that this series be read in order as there is a rather involved continuing story and interconnected characters who figure prominently in each book.  The first book, DARKNESS FALLS, is a MUST-READ in the series as it contains essential background information about Reves (shared dreamscapes) and introduces most of the characters.  DARKSIDERS picks up right after the second book, LAY ME DOWN, ends.

DARKSIDER is an intriguing mystery with a second-chance romance. Famous Chef Serafina Rochan, our heroine, was involved in Reves in the very beginning but doesn't participate in them now.  She has been experiencing nightmares for a while and friends fear that she is having trouble differentiating between the real and dream world.  When she hurts herself going through a window while trying to confront her Reves' stalker in the real world, she knows she can't fight this threat without assistance and calls upon Harlen, her ex-lover and the only person she trusts, to help.  Can she sucessfully enlist his help while remaining resistant to his charms?

Our hero, Marshal Harlen Fawkes, was introduced in the previous books.  He is tasked with keeping order in the Reve.  He is ex-military and all muscle.  He has never gotten over Sera.  She was his first love and remains his only love.  He wishes he'd never lost her.

“He'd pushed and pushed and pushed until she had nowhere else to go but away from him. He'd been young back then himself. Inexperienced. Stupid. A little patience accomplished a lot more. Hard lesson to learn. Worst way to learn it.”

Harlen was thrilled to the core when Sera called him asking for his help.  Perhaps if he plays his cards right, he can have her crepes every day for breakfast!
Oh my!  It was a treat watching these two spar and reconnect.  They have some definite chemistry!!!

Bottomline:  The author's writing style was very good.  The worlds she created are original and darkly complicated.  The characters were well-drawn.  The romance was quite good.  I love second chance romances.  The mystery continues to intrigue!  Warning!  There's a cliffhanger ending that will rock your socks!  I wish the next book was available now!  Regardless, DARKSIDER is a very good addition to the series!
