In 15th century Scotland, Gyllis Campbell arrives at the Beltane festival with one thing on her mind—to win the heart of Sir Sean MacDougall once and for all. Astonishingly, Sir Sean would like nothing more than to oblige the lovely lass.

But when news of his father’s death arrives, Sean races for Dunollie Castle. Unaware of Sean’s tragedy, Gyllis departs the festival thwarted. Worse, a terrible illness strikes her down, and she’s sent to the cloisters of Ardchattan Priory for healing.

Plagued by raids on his lands and deception in his ranks, Sean is embroiled in a battle to regain control. Pulled in a myriad of directions, adversity runs rampant as Gyllis struggles to regain her health and Sean battles the very demon who covets his title. Fighting for their lives, both must prevail before their love can blossom.

Linda's Thoughts
"Have you ever been kissed?"
"I --" Before she could utter her next word, Sean's lips brushed hers in the most feathery kiss she'd ever imagined. Her head spun. With a sigh, she swooned into him. "I've nay been kissed like that before."
"That was no kiss." He wrapped his arms around her as if creating a protective barrier where nothing in the world could harm her. His face looked incredibly bold in the moon glow -- desire filled his eyes, yet the dark shadow of his beard and long, wavy hair gave him a look of danger.
Hot blood thrummed beneath her skin as he studied her lips. His breath smelled of mint laced with a hint of aged whisky. Her tongue slipped out and wet her bottom lip.
Please, kiss me again.
With a tilt of his head, Sean plied her with his sultry mouth. Gyllis's knees wobbled, making her body crush into his hard chest. Her breasts molded into him, filling with desire. She closed her eyes and melted. If there was a heaven, she'd found it in his arms.

A HIGHLAND KNIGHT TO REMEMBER by Amy Jarecki is an artfully woven story combining passion and romance amidst familial and clan hostilities. It is set in fifteenth century Scotland. It's the third book in the author's Highland Dynasty series, but it can be fully enjoyed as a standalone story, if that is your preference. It is the story of Gyllis Campbell and Sir Sean MacDougall.

I loved both the hero and the heroine. They were both loyal and strong-willed and they never gave up on their dreams - despite tremendous odds against them. Before they can be together, though, they will each have to conquer some demons on their own.

Gyllis had been enamored with Sean for as long as she can remember. As the story opens, Gyllis is beyond excited as she arrives at the Beltane festival with her family. She has high hopes that Sean will finally notice her as a woman, and not as her brother's sister at the festival. AND he does - with fervor. However, when he later fails to show as they had agreed to a dinner, she believes the worst of him. On her way home from the festival, she falls seriously ill. Left paralyzed, she now fears she will be nothing but a burden to her loved ones.

Sean has devotedly served with Gyllis' brother, Duncan, defending the security of Scotland. Because of Sean's skills at tracking and ambush, he had earned the moniker of "ghost." Sean was also known as a lusty laddie as he was quite popular with the lassies. Even so, he has always wanted Gyllis, but Duncan is firmly against them being together because of Sean's reputation. I found that argument ironic since Duncan himself was quite the womanizer before he found the love of his life. Will true love be denied? You must read this book to find out!

Following please find a few of my favorite quotes from this lovely romance:

Duncan faced him and glowered. "You're the only man I know who could cause a scandal whilst out senseless."
---

Why does sin feel so good if it is a terrible thing?
---

"I-I've wanted you ever since..." She untied the sash around her waist and let the dressing gown drop to the floor.
God save him, she wore not a stitch of clothing. Every shred of self-control fled. His mind consumed with the tantalizing woman before him. Somehow she was even more beautiful now that he'd remembered. The candlelight flickered amber across her skin. Chestnut tresses slid over her shoulder, framing two perfectly formed breasts, tipped by rose.
Sean licked his lips, those delectable rosebuds would be his second stop. In two strides, he wrapped her in his arms and crushed his body against hers. "For all that is holy, you have claimed my soul, my flesh and my mind."

This is the first book by Amy that I've listened to, instead of read. It's also the first time I've listened to Dave Gillies. Listening to the audio narrated by Dave Gillies most definitely added another layer of pure enjoyment to the story. He delivered a clear, solid performance with a Scottish brogue that was absolutely perfect for this tale. He differentiated between the characters so I always knew who was speaking and his pauses and inflections were spot on. To say that I was mesmerized by his performance is an understatement. I would not hesitate to pick up another book voiced by Mr. Gillies.

I absolutely love Amy's books. She is one of my must-read authors. Her stories are always lusty and exciting with plenty of action and danger and imbued with humor. Her love for the Highlands is obvious in her storytelling. If you read her Author's Notes at the end of this book, you'll discover that much of this story is based upon real-life characters and events that she has embellished for our reading pleasure. I look forward to reading the next book in this series which will feature Helen, Gyllis' sister, who was forced to marry a man who did not love her. I highly recommend A HIGHLAND KNIGHT TO REMEMBER to anyone who enjoys lovely Scottish romances.
