Sometimes the right choice can be the deadliest.
When Ellie Watt made the ultimate sacrifice for Camden McQueen, she never thought it would be easy. But walking away with her ex-lover, Javier Bernal, in order to ensure Camden’s safety has brought a whole new set of dangers. With Javier’s plans for Ellie growing more secretive by the moment, Ellie must find a way to stay ahead of the game before her past swallows her whole.
Meanwhile, Camden’s new life is short-lived. Fueled by revenge and pursued by authorities, he teams up with an unlikely partner in order to save Ellie. But as Camden toes the line between love and retribution, he realizes that in order to get back the woman he loves, he may have to lose himself in the process. He might just turn into the very man he’s hunting.
Told in dual POV from Camden and Ellie.

Crystal L's Thoughts:

I read this book over a week ago and it was so good, so up to par with the 'holy shit I can't believe that just happened' kind of factor that Halle pulls off, that I had to wait before I could write this review! So far, every single book in this series has at some point made me want to toss my e-reader at the wall in a fit of rage. Halle is just that good of an author to make me feel things so extremely. Needless to say, Shooting Scars didn't disappoint.

The book picks up directly where Sins & Needles left off. Cam loves Ellie. Ellie loves Cam. But Javier has thrown Ellie a chance at giving Cam his old life back so that he has a chance with his ex-wife and son. So Ellie decides it's time to face the mistakes of her past (Javier) so that she can give Cam the chance to be with the son he misses so desperately.

Now Ellie is at Javier's mercy. She loves to hate him in the most extreme ways and she has no idea what his plans for her are. She's scared on so many levels. Scared she'll feel things for him. Scared he'll try and break her heart again. Scared he'll kill her.

I don't want to spoil all the greatness of the twists and turns in this book! I can't say much without doing that so what I will say is that Javier, Cam and Ellie all have one hell of an adventure in Shooting Scars. For those of us who all hated Javier and what he'd done to Ellie in On Every Street, you'll question your decisions on him. For those of us who were all firmly Team Camden, you'll probably walk away from this book STILL firmly Team Camden. And for those of us who love to see Ellie's life thrown into crazy-ass loops like a roller coaster, you won't be disappointed!

5 Wine Glass Toast along with an angry fist shake to Karina Halle for leaving the story where she did! It's going to be killer to wait until the next installment, Bold Tricks, which isn't set to release until October this year. *headdesk*
