Tes Hilaire's Deliver Me from Temptation (Guest Post/Giveaway)

Today I would like to give a warm welcome back to the wonder paranormal romance author, Tess Hilaire, who is joining us for the release of Deliver Me From Temptation, the second book in her Paladin Warriors series!

10 Reasons why warrior angels make the perfect romance heroes
A collection of scenesfrom the Paladin Warriors novels(warning, some are hot!)

10: They have an in with the Big Guy…which is handy when you’ve been a little bit “bad.”
Karissa tried again. “I mean, why did you leave?”

Roland’s shoulders lifted and he spun around. He was obscured by the running water and the rippled shower door, but there was no hiding the fact that she’d been right about the state he was in—both his eyes and fangs, and his cock.

She sucked in a breath, forcing her chin up to keep herself from staring. Even distorted by the glass, she could tell he was impressive. Of course, she’d known that, having felt his erection pressing against both her belly and her ass on numerous occasions. And just the memories of those moments were enough to send heat pooling down between her thighs.

“If I let myself go, I’m going to bite you.”

Karissa blinked. Her first thought was would that be so bad? —From Deliver Me from Darkness

9: His touch may be pure sin…but the way he makes you feel? Heaven.
The birds were singing, and so was Karissa’s heart. Last night could not have been more perfect, filled with alternate bouts of erotic sex, then languid lovemaking that was only punctuated with short bursts of sleep when pure exhaustion took over. And waking now with the heat of her lover, her mate, pressed up against her back was like waking to heaven here on earth.—FromDeliver Me from Darkness

8: Divinely sculpted…abs.
Logan stood abruptly, bouncing her a bit on the bed as his weight shifted then left the mattress. Jessica barely noticed as her eyes were stuck on his chest. Ripped. There was no other word. There was not an ounce of body fat on the man. And his abs? They rippled and dipped enticingly, drawing her attention to how his low-slung jeans seemed to hug not only the tight contours of his trim hips but, something else. Something that obviously had enjoyed their make out session as much as s—she closed her eyes, banging her head against the headboard a couple times. Yeah, no reason to complete that sentence. It was easy to see how this had happened. Deprived woman plus hot man equaled…

“Fuck.” She banged her head one more time then took a deep breath and opened her eyes. It was time to face reality, whatever the hell it was.—From Deliver Me from Temptation

7:He knows how to worship…your body.
Damn she was sexy. Her short spiky hair glowed like a sunset, framing the dramatic features of her face. Her nose might be considered a bit too long, her jaw too square, her lips a bit thin though wide and nicely shaped. Possibly even her wide-set eyes could be considered almost eerie with their unnatural golden hue. But for him everything matched, melding together into a combination fit to inspire the most gifted of poets. Too bad he wasn’t one. Though he could worship each and every one of her features in turn, first, though, he had to pay homage to the offerings she’d so generously given up to him...  —sneak peak at Book 3, Prince of Shadows(working titles) :-) And for my fans, no, this scene probably isn’t about who you think it is!

6: He’s honorable, sexy, strong, smart, and has a soul of an Angel.
“For me there is no other. If Karissa were to choose to leave, I would let her. I would ask, however, that you ensure that I will not have to be here if she were to decide to bond with another.”

And that’s why Logan had hesitated all those years ago. Monster or not, Roland had more heart, more honor, than any other man Logan knew. He shook his head, meeting Roland’s gaze in the mirror. “I won’t kill you.”

“If she leaves, I’ll already be dead.”—From Deliver Me from Darkness

5: If he calls you his Mate…you know it is fate.
“Weak.” The vile word rolled like a jagged stone in Roland’s mouth.

“That’s right.” Her mouth curled up in a saccharine smile, small white teeth flashing as she leaned closer into his personal space. “Weak.”

Weak indeed. If he had been a weak man, then every time he’d gone on the hunt he’d have let instincts overtake him and succumbed to the call of blood pumping through the veins of his prey. Just like a weak man, when faced with a friend’s request to harbor a young innocent that would tempt every aspect of his being, both vampire and Paladin, would have turned his back. If he was weak, he would have continued to deny what he already knew in his heart, in the hollow place that once held his soul: She was his mate. And if he was weak he would have used that as an excuse to take what he wanted from her, to claim something he had no right to claim.

He was not weak. At least, not completely. Though there were times when he faltered. Like now, looking down into those beautiful brown eyes that were trying to bore a hole in his head.Melted chocolate. He wanted to drink them in, the same as he wanted to taste the full strawberry pink lips that were currently pursed in smug challenge.

She probably didn’t even realize she had thrown down the gauntlet, probably thought she was being defiant, showing her strength by daring to get so close. Stupid woman. Hadn’t anyone ever told her not to play with fire? If her brown eyes were an addiction he could drown in and her lips an edible fruit, then her smooth skin was the fuel of his desire, her crisp floral scent the accelerant. An inch closer and they were both going to go up in flames.

One kiss.One taste.One moment.

He shouldn’t. She was too pure for him. She deserved more than a mate who could only offer her pain. More than a monster who would crave her blood as much as her companionship. He should turn his back on her now and get the hell away from here before he did something they’d both regret.

He shifted into her space.—From Deliver Me from Darkness

4: He truly believes that a commitment means forever.
“No. It was the bonding ceremony.” And it should have been done in Haven’s Hall. Not in some grimy cabin in the woods with both Ganelon’s army and the entire Paladin regiment searching for her and ready to rip her away from him.

“And the equivalent to the rest of us laypeople would be?”

Roland refocused on her, feeling the nervous tension in her question. “There is no equivalent. Nothing can come close to the binding of a Paladin to his mate.”

The crease got bigger. She nibbled her bottom lip. “Can I assume that we’re like, um, married now? In a sense, that is, not that I’m trying to force you into—”

He shut her up with a kiss. She was so damn cute when she was flustered. When they broke apart he said, “You are mine, and I am yours. Forever. It’s as simple and as profound as that.”

“Good. That’s good.” She smiled, snuggling in tight. Moments later her breath had evened out into a light sleep.—From Deliver Me from Darkness

3:He’ll be your beacon of light whenever the world seems dark.
He’s here.

Jessica had fought through the fog, clinging to the sound of Logan’s voice. A light in the dark fight she warred against the demon who wanted her soul. She’d used it as her anchor.

Had to tell him.Had to warn him.

Bait. That’s all she was. Her death or her damnation, didn’t matter, either would be used to break him. She could not, would not let it happen. —From Deliver Me from Temptation

2: If you fall…you can be assured he’ll catch you.
“God, Jessica. You’re killing me.”

She was killing herself too, each movement like fire through her body, the burn in her lungs as she swallowed great gulps of air.

So much for control, it was all she could do not to melt upon him. So she moved, letting her body lead her. There was no predetermined pace to draw this out. Only the beat of heavy breathing.Only the slap of bodies as she drove herself down on him.

Only this.

Only him.

This wasn’t pleasuring. It was succumbing. And as another orgasm burst through her, pulling him along, all she could think was that she hoped she wouldn’t be the only one to surrender to the fall.—From Deliver Me from Temptation

1: He would give his heart, body, and soul for his woman.
“I’m Logan Calhoun. And you must be Jessica’s partner.”

The cop’s brow winged up, even as he pointedly ignored the hand. Oh yeah, Logan was right, though it was obvious Mike was not all that thrilled with Logan’s advantage.

“Jessica’s mentioned you a couple times,” he gave in explanation.

“Well she didn’t mention you,” Mike said, his voice still laden with suspicion.

“We’re new.”

“Yeah, I gathered. New as in the last week new?Because Jessica has been having an awful lot of problems recently.”

The accusatory tone, the slow drag of the cop’s eyes as he said this made Logan’s jaw tighten and his body still with an ice-cold fury. That anyone would suggest he could harm his mate…“I would give my life to keep her safe.”—From Deliver Me from Temptation

  17. It depends on my mood, but I find I'm often drawn to the tortured hero. Someone with a dark past and a lot of baggage.

  18. As for the paranormal world I like just about any tortured, weapon wielding, common sense hunk of alpha male. I do like the fae, druids, shape shifters, and vampire heroes.
Can't wait to read this book. The excerpt is awesome and cover hawt.
    Thanks,

  20. I think warrior angels sound just right, but I'm still partial to the tortured hero, and the mysterious, immortal vampires too. :D

  21. Debby - isn't it great when these big alpha heroes get a little flustered with love? :-)

SdyLion - I'm so glad the series has intrigued you so! Thanks for saying Hi :-)

Holly - Noted! When I'm looking for ideas I shall remember what you and Raonoid said :-)

Lori- I can't take credit for the cover, but I agree, it is Hawt! Thanks for stopping in!

Diane- I have to admit, there is something sexy about a man completely devoted to you ;-)

Sheryl - I agree! That's one of the things I love about Roland from book one.

Elizabeth - you can't go wrong with any of those heroes! Thanks for sharing :-)

jyl22075- A tortured hero is a must, isn't it? That way they appreciate finding their true love more ;-)

burbanette - I like to mix my genres up a bit too at times. Sometimes a good contemporary or chick lit is a nice change of pace form the dark worlds I write!

  22. Barbara- good to see you! And I so agree :-) Thanks for saying Hi!

  23. I do like a vampire or wolf shapeshifter hero. They fight the attraction to the heroine, but in the end, the girl always gets her man.

  24. Love the feralness of the shifter hero... especially of the big cat variety since they're my favorite:)

  25. One I love to see that isn't really done that often is... A Male spellcrafter (witch if you will). There are plenty of Female heroines that are witches etc but hardly any males.

  30. Variety is the spice of life and so it is for my heroes. I like vamps, shifters, fallen angels, aliens, fae, ....and the list goes on. I admit that I am partial to the tortured soul and/or jaded hero. When they let go and give in to true love it makes it all the sweeter.

  34. I was a fan of vampire & shifter hearos before it became a fad. Some of the stuff that comes out now a days isn't quite as memorable. Angel heroes are something defintely not overdone! Love to read this book :-)

  35. I love all 10 of those statements. :) I actually love the Warrior Angels that have fallen. And must redeem themselves while fighting their attraction to their woman.
The tortured Hero is another one. My all time favorite though is the tortured kilted Highlander. I can NEVER get enough of them, ever.
    Thanks for the chance.
