Interview with the dazzling Molly McAdams of TO THE STARS!

We thought we needed a visit from someone who is professional at tugging at our heartstrings for this Valentine’s Day weekend. So we got Molly McAdams! Welcome Molly!

Hi! I’m so excited to be here with y’all. Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone!

Lexi: Every single book you get our water works going. A heartache guarantee. And we love it. How do you handle getting in deep with these characters and writing these stories, emotionally?

I handle it with a lot of tears. A lot of sobbing. Some chocolate therapy. A lot of yelling at my husband, Cory, for something my characters did/said. Haha! To tell you the truth, I am such an emotional person anyway, that I see things in an emotional way—whatever that emotion may be. Someone could watch the same event unfold as me, and could retell it and have it be hilarious, my version would be incredibly dramatic. So getting on an emotional level with characters is never hard for me, it’s always the easiest … but that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t absolutely destroy me while doing it. I feel all of the things y’all feel while reading, and it destroys me, too. But I do think a good cry every now and then is great for the soul ;)

Lexi: To the Stars is about a couple who fell in love as teens, and then you let life happen to them. Harlow is the broken one and she has a lot to deal with. Domestic abuse is a terrifying thing. Did you pull on life experiences/people you know to write Harlow or was this story one inspired by a dream?

Both. I had this dream of present day Harlow for a few nights in a row. Complete with Collin and his crazy, and an ending for them that was different than what you see in the book. Then I let a past relationship click into place that would represent Knox and the past scenes, and had to figure out a Collin. I had seen him in the dream, but I knew I was missing something. So, in the end, he too came from a past relationship. Just one that wasn’t nearly as intense as what we see in TO THE STARS.

Lexi: Seriousness aside…thank you for Knox! He just makes you want to melt, like a sweet Valentine chocolate in your hand. Do your heroes settle into your heart and how do you find room to love them all?

Oh my word, they totally do. They never leave, and at random times one of them will push forward and start tugging at my heart, forcing me to remember how incredible he is. I don’t know how I find room to love them all, I guess my heart just expands to find room!

Lexi: We love them all and hope you will keep them coming! What are your upcoming releases? Any additions to a series or something new?

Well, in sticking with the Thatch series, Charlie and Deacon will be getting a story this year, and then I have a book coming later on in the year, titled I SEE YOU. It’s completely new characters, new everything! I’m really excited about it!

Lexi: Congrats on the release of To the Stars! I’m not sure how well fried pickles will go with wine but I love both of them so let’s celebrate!!

Haha! Thank you so much, and I guess you should always try everything once, right?

25005167To the Stars: A Thatch Novel
by Molly McAdams
ebook, 384 pages
Expected publication: February 9th 2016 by William Morrow Paperbacks
ISBN 0062358464
In the second book in New York Times  and USA Today  bestselling author Molly McAdams’ Thatch series, Knox Alexander must convince his long-time love Harlow Evans that they’re meant to be together.

He promised to wait for her.
She told him he was wasting his time.
Not waiting for him ended up being the biggest mistake of her life.

When they were younger, Knox Alexander swore to Harlow Evans that he would wait for her to turn eighteen so they could be together. But that was three and a half years away, and Harlow couldn’t ask him to give up all the fun and thrills of going away to college for her. As the years passed, Knox remained a constant in her life—whether she liked it or not—but when her eighteenth birthday came around, Harlow’s heart belonged to someone else.

Every day for the last four years, Harlow has been haunted by that fateful choice. And though he may appear unaffected by what happened in their past, Knox has always tried to fill the void Harlow left. But when he comes stumbling back into her life and refuses to leave, will Harlow finally let him into her heart…?

And don’t miss the first book in the Thatch Series…

About Molly McAdams:
Molly grew up in California but now lives in the oh-so-amazing state of Texas with her husband, daughter, and fur babies. When she's not diving into the world of her characters, some of her hobbies include hiking, snowboarding, traveling, and long walks on the beach … which roughly translates to being a homebody with her hubby and dishing out movie quotes. She has a weakness for crude-humored movies and fried pickles, and loves curling up in a fluffy comforter during a thunderstorm ... or under one in a bathtub if there are tornados. That way she can pretend they aren't really happening.
