The Concubine's Gift by K. Ford K. (Guest Post)

Please give a warm welcome to author K. Ford K. who is joining us with a special peek into her book, The Concubine's Gift

Poor, sexually inhibited Babbitt Babbitt has a serious problem when she develops the psychic ability to see what everyone needs for sexual fulfillment.  She also  can’t stop herself from blurting out sex tips.  As inn keeper of a motel in the resort town of Valentine, Nevada she sees plenty of people come and go including the newlyweds, Sam and Melinda.

-Excerpt from The Concubine’s Gift (with the spicy parts left out, Sorry) -

“As the newlyweds walked towards the café, they held hands, not so much as lovers, but in defeat.  Their shoulders slumped.  Their heads hung together like heavy-headed roses.

Bernice watched them sympathetically when suddenly she saw a vivid image of Sam and Melinda making love and she knew why they were disappointed in their wedding night.  Bernice understood that Melinda had insisted they wait until their wedding night to have sex, not for moral reasons but because she thought it would make the sex hotter if they waited.    Once in bed they attempted to copy the sex they had seen in a porno movie at a college party.  They tried so hard to act older and more experienced than they were that the enjoyment of the act was completely lost.
“Oh dear. Oh dear!” Bernice ran for the lobby and once inside she shouted out, “I don’t want to see any more of these images.  What's wrong with me?” She  clutched her head as if she wanted to pull it off.
But she couldn’t do anything about it as more images of Sam and Melinda filled her mind and this time she knew that she wasn’t seeing their past, but their future.

Sam and Melinda where playing hide and seek in their room at the Cupid’s Arrow Inn Motel and they were dressed in the Halloween costumes they loved.  Melinda was dressed as Glenda the Good Witch.  Sam was the Cowardly Lion, only he was not acting cowardly.  He was ferocious.  He growled and roared as he looked for Melinda in the closet and the bathroom.  Then he saw her pink sparkly shoes peeking out from under the curtains.  He pulled the curtain aside but Melinda had tricked him by placing only her shoes there.  Then he heard her happy laugh and he followed the sound until he found her under the desk.  He pulled back the chair and grabbed her arm.
“No,” she laughed as he pulled her up.  He roared and ripped at Melinda’s dress with his claws until the dress hung in sparkly pink shreds and Melinda’s bare nipples that resembled tiny cherries showed through the tears.  He tickled her stomach with his whiskers while she squirmed and blew pink bubble gum bubbles at him. He slapped at the bubbles with his paws and roared in triumph when he got bubble gum all over her face.  He took off his mask and nibbled at the bubble gum.  She grabbed his tail and rubbed it slowly between her legs, laughing when he growled, “Who’s pulling my tail?...”
“…Oh my God.  This can’t be happening.  What’s wrong with me?”  Bernice felt her cheeks turn red, then painful.  She began to cry.
The images of Sam and Melinda returned again, only this time they were more intense, more vivid.  Bernice’s hands pulled at her straw-colored hair as if to pull the images from her mind.  She also felt the familiar desire to blurt out an unsavory opinion.  Despite her discomfort, she knew that what she was seeing was exactly what Sam and Melinda needed to do in order to be happy and fulfilled in lovemaking.
“I’m turning into a pervert.  What will people think of me?” Bernice wailed…
…Her thoughts returned to normal but when she saw the newlyweds crossing the parking lot as they returned from breakfast, Bernice saw another vision…
Melinda and Sam were dressed as Alice in Wonderland and the Mad Hatter and they were rolling around a large grassy lawn.  The remnants of an interrupted tea party were on a picnic blanket nearby.  Sam pinned Melinda to the ground and took off his hat.  “My silly Alice,” he said tenderly as he kissed her repeatedly…  Somehow Bernice knew that Sam and Melinda would play these dress up games throughout their married life.   Sam would lovingly call her 'my silly Alice' until the day she died and no one would ever know where the nickname came from.
Bernice fought the urge to blurt out what she had seen.  “Oh no,no,no,” she mumbled to herself instead.  She turned purple.  She covered her mouth with both hands and then with an orange sofa cushion.  Still holding the sofa cushion over her mouth, she couldn’t stop herself from walking through the lobby door.  In her throat, strange sounds gurgled, like a geyser about to blow.  She clung tight to the sofa cushion but it was no use.  When she was face to face with Sam and Melinda, she blurted out, “You should wear Halloween costumes.”
“What?” Sam and Melinda laughed.
“Halloween costumes.  Like from the Wizard of Oz or Alice in Wonderland.  After all you met at a Halloween party.”
“How did you know that?” Sam asked and Bernice noticed that Melinda was starting to smile.
“If you want to be happy in lovemaking you need to start with Halloween costumes and fairy tales.” Her voice squeaked.  “Then do whatever comes naturally to you.”  Horrified that the words had come out not only blatantly, but extremely clear, Bernice stuffed a corner of the sofa cushion in her mouth...

The Concubine’s Gift
Bernice Babbitt, a sexually inhibited, thirty-nine-year-old woman, leads a peaceful life in the tiny resort town of Valentine, Nevada.  Living only two miles from the famed bordello, The Honey Bunny Ranch, she can’t imagine what goes on inside its closed doors.
Things begin to change when Bernice buys an old, black-lacquer makeup case in an antique shop.   The case once belonged to Blissful Night, the most famous and powerful concubine in Hong Kong.  According to legend, Blissful Night could give a man more pleasure in one night than he would have experienced in an entire lifetime.
Inside the makeup case, Bernice discovers a forgotten jar of face powder with magical properties, the secret to Blissful Night’s success.  Thinking the face powder is an herbal concoction that will beautify her skin, Bernice begins to use it, only to find that the powder causes her to see visions of other people’s sex lives.
Bernice is horrified to discover that the only way she can rid herself of the visions is to blurt out sexual advice.  Soon the entire town is in an uproar.  But it isn’t until she learns more about Blissful Night’s past that she knows what she must do.
The Concubine’s Gift is a delightfully sexy novel in which Bernice is drawn into a seductive world she never knew existed.  A  provocative and entertaining Pandora’s Box of a tale!
