Whoever said dead men tell no tales obviously never met Alex Craft.
After a month spent recovering from a vicious fight with a sorcerer, grave witch Alex Craft is ready to get back to solving murders by raising the dead. With her love life in turmoil thanks to the disappearance of Fae Investigation Bureau agent Falin Andrews and a shocking “L” word confession from Death himself, Alex is eager for the distractions of work. But her new case turns out to be a deadly challenge.
The police hire Alex to consult on a particularly strange investigation in the nature preserve south of Nekros City. The strange part: There are no corpses, only fragments of them. A serial killer is potentially on the loose, and Alex has no way to raise a shade without a body, so she’ll have to rely on the magic of others to find leads. But as she begins investigating, a creature born of the darkest magic comes after her. Someone very powerful wants to make sure the only thing she finds is a dead end—her own.

Lexi’s Thoughts:

Price’s second addition to the Alex Craft series is even better than the first! Grave Dance continues with all of the action and mystery but brings more mythology and deepens the characters.

This Urban Fantasy series is reminiscent of the Pax Arcana series by Elliott James. Magical realism and mythology woven into a rich backdrop. In Grave Dance Alex meets more fae and learns more about them and her magic. Trouble still comes looking for her and this time the similarities between her and the case are eerily similar. We will have to wait and see if Alex takes the warning or not.

As a result of defeating Coleman at the end of Grave Witch, Alex tends to create black holes where the different planes of magic converge. Except one of these tares shows up outside town by a bridge, a place Alex hasn’t been, and it has the fingerprints of the killer she is tracking all over it.

Alex not only meets new characters, like a kelpie, but she also has to deal with that pesky reporter and the Fae Investigation Bureau who seem to follow her every step. Falin is under control of the Winter Queen and isn’t exactly helpful. But she does have friends when she desperately needs them. They save her life and also, with the aid of some cemetery ghosts, help her in escapes. Even friends who may rather not be, like the raver and Grey Man collectors who work with Death. They don’t like her nor the hold she has over Death but they need to work with Alex to stop one  of their own.

If you enjoy paranormal, urban fantasy books you will love this series and you need to pick it up now. February 2nd isn’t far away and you want to be ready for the release of book four!
