Great job...Sexy boyfriend...Heiress to the Georgia Onion Empire...Vidalia Fitzsimmons had it all until the day bodies started dropping from the sky...literally.

Time is running out. The body count is multiplying. It's all up to a cop, a vampire and a self-proclaimed nerd to save the day.

Hold onto your hats folks, you’re never gonna believe what happens next!

This book contains explicit sexual material and violence. It is only suited for mature readers 18 years of age and older.

Linda's Thoughts:
There are three things you need to know about me before we go any farther. I'm the heiress to the Fitzsimmons' Vidalia onion empire and as southern as the day is long. (Now, you get the name, right?) I'll be thirty in less than two months, my curves have curves, I'm in love with the man of my dreams, and I have great hair (not conceited, just honest. Put away the claws.). And... I'm a vampire. (Not the biting kind. The cursed kind.) Any questions?

VIDALIA: A 'NOT QUITE' VAMPIRE LOVE STORY by Julia Mills is a totally mesmerizing, highly entertaining beginning to a new series by Julia! It combines humor, romance, mystery, southern small-town cuteness galore and thrilling suspense in one short action-packed read! It may be short, but it delivers quite a wallop!

The storyline was extraordinarily clever. There are multiple murders which our heroine, the coroner, is tasked with solving. The victims are all rich, successful, powerful women in their thirties. The killer - nicknamed "The Tosser"  - likes to play dropsy with his victim's bodies.

I loved the characters. Our heroine was "normal" until her twenty-first birthday, when an outlandishly crazy curse came into play and the result was that she turned literally overnight into a fangless vampire. Add in one sexy fanged vampire/cop and what do you have? A fun, delicious read.

Following please find a few of my favorite quotes from this short story:

We met over a dead body, which for most people would be a turnoff....
---

"Is there a doctor in the house?" Bobby's voice floated into the room. My heart fluttered, just as it had the first time I'd met him, just as it did every time. The low timbre of his voice, combined with his rolling southern accent, made my pulse race and my palms sweat....
"She is. Is there someone in need of medical attention?" I answered, trying not to sound breathless but failing, as I always did....
Not answering but stopping right in front of me, placing his hands on my shoulders and leaning forward, the sexiest man in Georgia kissed me just a teeny bit senseless amid the dead bodies, antiseptic smells, and right in front of Reggie.
---

"Vidalia, open those eyes and look at me. As with all things, we do this together, Darlin'."

VIDALIA: A 'NOT QUITE' VAMPIRE LOVE STORY was a quick read and well worth it! I simply could not put it down once I started it! If I have one complaint, it's that I wanted more!

This was the first book I've ever read by Julia, but it won't be the last! I just discovered that the next installment in this series is available! I now have PHOEBE: A 'NOT QUITE PHOENIX LOVE STORY on my reader waiting for me. I also couldn't resist buying her Dragon Guards series! I can't wait to dive in to all of them!

I would highly recommend VIDALIA: A 'NOT QUITE' VAMPIRE LOVE STORY to anyone who enjoys humorous Southern cozy mysteries with an ingeniously original vampiric slant. If you crave some instantaneous  comic relief with a side of nail-biting, who-done-it suspense, look no further than VIDALIA: A 'NOT QUITE' VAMPIRE LOVE STORY!
