Dragos Cuelebre, Lord of the Wyr, needs to throw a party without maiming anyone. That isn’t exactly as easy as it might sound.

After the destructive events of the last eighteen months, the Elder Races are heading to Washington D.C. to foster peace with humankind. Not known for his diplomacy skills, Dragos must rely on his mate Pia to help navigate a battlefield of words and polite smiles rather than claws. With Dragos’s mating instinct riding close to the surface, his temper is more volatile than ever and the threat of violence hovers in the air.

Then the human spouse of a prominent politician winds up murdered and Dragos and Pia must race against time to hunt down those behind it before they are held responsible for the crime.

For fans of DRAGON BOUND and LORD’S FALL, the latest novella in the Elder Races holds passion, peril, political intrigue, and revelations that will change Dragos and Pia’s lives forever.

DRAGOS GOES TO WASHINGTON is the first part of a three-story series about Dragos, Pia, and their son Liam. Each story stands alone, but fans might want to read all three in order as they will be released: DRAGOS GOES TO WASHINGTON, PIA DOES HOLLYWOOD, and LIAM TAKES MANHATTAN.

Linda's Thoughts:
“How exactly does one break the news to her husband that she's standing in a closet with the dead body of one of their dinner guests?”

DRAGOS GOES TO WASHINGTON by Thea Harrison is 129 pages of Elder Races' awesomeness. It's first novella in a trilogy within the series (8.5, 8.6 and 8.7). It combines passion, paranormal politics and unique, primarily dragon family dynamics, into a wonderfully entertaining tale. This tale grabbed my attention from the very first and didn't let go until the wondrous last sentence. Along the way, I laughed, swooned, found myself on the edge of my seat and shed a few tender tears.

You should know that I'm a huge fan of the series. I love these short stories in the series as they provide yummy tidbits about the characters, in this case, Dragos and his mate, Pia. It just so happens that Dragos, Pia and Liam, their adorable son, are my favorite characters in the series and hold a special place in my heart.

Dragos' and Pia's smoking chemistry and charisma absolutely scintillates these pages. They are so perfect together that I am amazed, dazed and happy just remembering how they interact. Dragos is an old, tough dragon, but his connection with Pia is distinctly fresh, raw, doting and tenderhearted. She has him wrapped around her little finger and I love every minute. Their mutual love, care and concern for each other  is heartbreakingly beautiful to behold.

Supporting characters in this story include many previous heroes and heroines from former tales in this series, including Niniane, or "Tricks," and Tiago, her mate. I thoroughly enjoyed catching up with them and many more.

Following please find a few of my favorite quotes from this read:

“He said against her fragile, pedal soft skin, "You know how this goes, don't you?"

"In a general sort of way," she whispered unsteadily. She ran her hands up his arms and dug her fingers into his shoulders. "You diddle here, I suck there. Or maybe you suck, and I diddle. Or both. Couple of pats, and ten or fifteen thrusts. 'Oh baby, you're so good, I can't take it,' pow, et cetera, 'let's go raid the fridge.”
---

“So, is that your long scaly reptilian tail, or are you just happy to see me?
---

“She crooned in his head. Honey, I'm so proud of you for not killing anybody.
His gaze flashed to hers, and that flat, assessing expression vanished as he laughed. Squeezing her fingers, he told her, Week's not over yet.”

The Elder Races' world that Thea has created continues to amaze me with her creativity and shows no signs of getting old. Her word and world building are both utterly incredible. I only wish Thea could write as fast as I inhale her books!

I am not going to post a snynopsis nor a spoiler besides saying that there is some very exciting news disclosed within this story that will leave fans happy dancing and delightfully anticipating events to come!

To fully appreciate this installment, I believe that the reader should have some prior knowledge of the Elder Races world and have, at the very least, read the first book in the series which featured Dragos and Pia and introduced the Elder Races (DRAGON BOUND). That should not be a hardship since every book in this series has been a treat.

If you are a fan of paranormal romances and have not read the Elder Races series, you are, without a doubt, seriously missing out and I highly recommend planning a binge reading of the series. Fans of the series should rush to whatever online bookstore they use and buy it now! I can't wait to read PIA DOES HOLLYWOOD and LIAM TAKES MANHATTAN which will complete this small trilogy within the series.
