Author Guest Post & Giveaway: Cynthia Eden

Today I have the super sweet and talented Cynthia Eden joining us for a great guest post and a fabulous giveaway! Cynthia has a new release, Never Cry Wolf, coming out next Tuesday the 28th and if you like hot alpha wolves then you'll want this book! You can read my review *here!*

I Have A Paranormal Addiction

A picture of Cynthia Eden.Hi, everyone! A big thanks to Crystal for having me at her place today!

I have a confession to make (though it’s not going to catch many folks by surprise). I have a paranormal addiction. I just can’t get enough of vampires, demons, and shifters.

I can’t exactly remember when I first became hooked on the paranormal world. Maybe it was back when I was a kid and I used to watch horror shows on the USA Network. Back then, they had a guy called Commander USA who hosted a horror marathon (sort of like Elvira did). I would watch those shows for hours—and always hate when the vampire got slayed at the end. Such a sad fate.

As I grew older, I read tons of monster books, I watched as many paranormal shows and movies as I could find, so, yes, that meant I never missed a BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER episode. How could I miss it? Spike was awesome! And now, these days, I eagerly tune in to catch each episode of TRUE BLOOD on HBO. Thanks to Alcide and Eric, my addiction is just growing.

Never Cry WolfSo when I write, it’s pretty much only natural for me to write about paranormal heroes and heroines. I love putting new spins on old myths, and I sure do love to see just how far I can push my characters. In NEVER CRY WOLF, I had the chance to write about one of my favorite paranormal beings—the wolf shifter. My hero, Lucas Simone, is the alpha of his pack. Tough, strong, you definitely want this guy on your side in a fight.

And, unlike the monsters who appeared in those old black and white movies, I can guarantee you that Lucas won’t get slayed at the end of the story. Instead, he might just get the girl. (Who am I kidding? It’s a romance! Of course, he’ll get the girl—he just has to slay all the bad guys coming after her first.)
Do you have a paranormal addiction, too? What started your addiction?Leave me a comment, and I’ll pick one person at random to win a copy of NEVER CRY WOLF.

Have a great day!
Cynthia Eden
NEVER CRY WOLF—Available 6/28/11 from Kensington Brava
Be afraid of the big, bad wolf…

~*GIVEAWAY*~
As Cynthia mentioned above, she is giving away one copy of her upcoming release, Never Cry Wolf.

Giveaway will close at 11:59pm on July 7th when Cynthia will choose one winner at random. Open internationally.
Good Luck Everyone!

Here's some more about Never Cry Wolf:
RUNNING WITH A DANGEROUS CROWD

Lucas Simone is not the kind of guy you mess with. He’s big, he’s strong, and his eyes hint at a wilder side most women can’t handle. Of course, that’s because his predatory instincts are no metaphor—he’s a genuine Grade-A top-quality werewolf, tough enough to fight his way to dominance over the scariest pack on the West Coast. There’s only one chink in his armor. Unlike most alpha dogs, Lucas has a reputation for protecting the weak and innocent.

Sarah King is counting on that protective impulse—it’s the only thing standing between her and certain death. There are only two problems: one, she’s not quite as innocent as she’d like Lucas to believe. And two, if he doesn’t stop stoking Sarah’s animal lust, it’s only a matter of time before her own wild side gets unleashed…

  1. I definitely do! And it all started with Crystal! I had never read a paranormal romance or any romance steamier than your basic chick lit. But I wanted to mix things up a bit so I asked her for a recommendation. She recommended Darkness Dawns by Dianne Duvall and I haven't looked back since. I can't get enough! LOL!

  2. Honestly? Well, I liked them as a teenager, then for a long time I didn't read any paranormal novels, and THEN I started book blogging :-D you get the idea *lol*.

  8. Alycia, I was that age when I got hooked on the books, too. Christopher Pike introduced me to ghost romances and I moved ahead from there!

Oh, Irene, I LOVE Christine Feehan's Carpathians. They are awesome!

  9. I've always loved romance and I think that I found myself thinking 'there must be more' while reading some of my favourite authors work. They can only do so much obviously with mystery etc. to spice up the romance. One day I found a new-to-me author who's hero was a werewolf and I was hooked now when I (rarely) read contemporary romances I keep watching for the para pieces and thinking WTH?

Love were's of all sorts, vampires, demons, etc. etc.

  10. I really got hooked a few years ago. A Dr. I work with, his wife is a big reader of paranormal romance. He found out how much I like to read. Soon after I started getting these huge bags of books at work. Half of them were paranormal like Jacqueline Frank, Lara Adrian, and JR Ward. Been hooked ever since.

  11. Anne Rice got me addicted to paranormal. I read her when I was in high school. I look back & wonder why on Earth my Mama let me read that, or those Stephen King books long before high school. The more paranormal I read I have discovered I do like weres/shifters over the vamps, but I love em both.

  12. Addiction!! It's more like an Obsession... LOL. I've been reading paranormal romance since I was like 15, which is a long time. I was more into the YA side of things then, but I started reading the good stuff way back in 2006 when I discovered the amazing Felicity Heaton and her sexy vampires. Grr... that was it for me, I just started craving more and more...lol

  14. The only paranormal books I've read are Cynthia Eden's. I read Cynthia's Midnight Trilogy a while back & loved it. I've read it a few times. I just can't get enough of Niol. ;-) I like paranormal a lot but I never know what books/authors to buy. I'm just now starting another series (BDB series) that several people recommended. I think I could definitely become addicted to paranormal. There's nothing sexier than alpha males with a little something extra. Demon, shifter, vampire...it doesn't matter to me. I love them all.

  18. Hi Cynthia -
I sure do have a paranormal addiction. Mine began as a kid on Saturday afternoons listening to DARK SHADOWS on the radio. Then there would be old monster movies on late night TV (before 1 am when the TV signal went off :)) that my girlfriend and I would watch while sleeping over each others house.

  23. Do I have a paranormal addiction? Why yes, why yes I do. Lets see I use to read strictly fantasy and historical, thinking paranormal was cliche. Then I seen Kenyon's Night Embrace and was like "I wanna read that" That was all it took. Then I was devouring paranormals as I went. It takes about the bulk of my reading.

  25. I honestly don't know what got me into the paranormal world. I'm not a huge fan of paranormal movies as they tend to be too "horror" for me.

But that said, I do enjoy a good paranormal romance as the world building tends to be a bit more extensive and interesting as there aren't any rules to really follow. :)

  26. Ever since I was little I have always been fascinated with all things paranormal, ghost stories, ghost movies, the ouija board you name it. Similarly, I have always been an avid reader, therefore it was a natural that I would become a paranormal addict. I recently re-discovered the genre and am contantly on the prowl for new stories and new authors. I think what got me hooked was Karen Marie Moning's Fever series. I'm happy to discover that there are many books out there to feed my addiction.

I must say that the first paranormal books I read where the Twilight Saga.
But from there I’ve evolved to adult books, like Cynthia’s, which I enjoy a lot more. The Midnight series was great, especially the last book with Holly and Niol.
I’m a big fan of vamps, and also like sexy Weres a lot!
Nowadays I only read paranormal romance :)

I read all the vamp books I could get my hands on, but there weren't that many in the 1980's. I then stopped reading them for years until a friend mentioned True Blood to me back in 2008. I didn't get HBO, but she mentioned that the series was based on a book series. I'd just gotten a Kindle so I decided to get the first book to check it out. As I grew up in the 80s horror flicks with paranormal elements appealled to me but my parents were wise and didn't let me watch them. (I had nightmares from E.T. so... yeah). It wasn't until I was a teenager and spending a summer with my dad that I slept over at a friends and watched Interview With the Vampire... it was the first time I ever really saw vampires (or any other "monster") portrayed in a sympathetic way instead of as pure villains and from there on I sought out the paranormal side of things much more. :)

  86. Doesn't everyone have an Paranormal addiction? Mine started with one of my brothers buying me Shades of Gray by Amanada Ashley. I was hooked after that`

  88. I honestly can't remember when it started. I think it might've been the Sookie Stackhouse books by Charlaine Harris!

  89. I do have a paranormal addiction. It's hard to remember what books started it but the one book that stands out to me is Dark Fire by Christine Feehan. I think that started my paranormal romance addiction.

  90. I read in every genre, but paranormal is always my go to books. I love the worlds that these books invite you into and it's so easy to leave reality behind and let your imagination go. Paranormals is what got me reading again after a 7 year break. Larissa Ione's Demonica series is what drew me and also what hooked me and I've been lost in the world of vamps, weres and any other paranormal creature since

  91. I read different genres as well BUT paranormal is my favorite. Its the best :) I love it. I think Intertwined by Gena Showalter started my obsession... its one of my all time favorites.
