The first novel in New York Times bestselling author Cynthia Eden's sizzling LOST series introduces the Last Option Search Team, an elite unit that must protect the only surviving victim of a serial killer.

Ex-SEAL and LOST founder Gabe Spencer is accustomed to the unusual in his job. But when knockout Eve Gray steps into his office, he's rattled. For the mysterious woman is a dead ringer for the heiress thought to be the latest prey of the serial killer who goes by the name Lady Killer.

When Eve awoke in an Atlanta hospital, her past was a blank slate. Then she recognized her own face in the newspaper and vowed to learn the truth. Determined to confront the nightmares hidden in her mind, she never expects to find a partner in Gabe.

As Gabe and Eve work together, their explosive attraction becomes irresistible. Gabe knows that his desire for Eve is growing too strong, bordering on a dangerous obsession, but nothing pulls him away from her. And when another Eve lookalike disappears, Gabe vows to protect Eve at all costs. While Eve may have forgotten the killer in her past, it's clear he hasn't forgotten her.

Crystal's Thoughts:
Broken, the start to Cynthia Eden's newest romantic suspense series, is an addictive ride that I never wanted to get off of!

LOST; an organization founded by ex-SEAL, Gabe Spencer, to find those that the authorities have given up on. Dead or alive. Gabe has never been asked by the Lost to find themselves though. Until Eve Gray walks through his door.
Awakening in the hospital without memory, her body riddled with scars and her sleep filled with nightmares, Eve is determined to find out where she belongs. When she sees a newspaper article about a missing socialite presumed to be the victim of a serial killer, Eve is shocked to see herself pictured. Desperate for answers, Eve goes to the only person she can think of to help her. Gabe, and LOST.
Now they're on the hunt for the truth. But someone else is on the hunt too...The Lady Killer let Eve escape once, he won't let her escape his clutches again. Skirting a killer's twisted games, a haunting past, and a coming tropical storm, Eve and Gabe must unravel this horrifying mystery before the Lady Killer strikes again. Because Gabe refuses to loose another woman he loves...

Broken starts with a bang and never lets up until the very end. Eve is trying to uncover the truth of her past without falling into the hands of a killer. Her story was absolutely gripping, and as it unfolded so many questions, possibilities, and emotions raced through my head. I was completely wrapped up into the story. Eve's attraction to Gabe, and vice versa, is instant and intense.  Yes, they do fall into bed a little too quickly for my taste, but in the end it worked for the story. Gabe is Eve's anchor in the dark storm that is her life right now. But Gabe has his own secrets, and his own darkness to contend with.  I loved both of these characters. Eve was determined and despite the chaos of her life, fiercely independent. Gabe was strong, protective, and so sexy-alpha. Which Cynthia Eden excels at with all of her story's heroes. The secondary characters, those of the LOST team, were just as intriguing as the main characters and I am profoundly curious of what their own stories will hold.

The plot was fast-paced and pulse-pounding, and trying to figure out the whodunit of the story kept me on the edge of my seat! As soon as a character stepped onto the pages I thought, "Him." He's the one behind it all. However, thanks to Cynthia Eden's brilliant, twisty, writing, I questioned myself numerous times and after the halfway mark thought, "Well, perhaps it is him." A different him, of course. The Lady Killer was such a chilling villain. Cynthia Eden scares me sometimes with how well she can depict the mind of a sadistic killer. I still  love you though, Cynthia, and will share a bottle of wine with you any time! LOL

I honestly couldn't put this book down and dived into the next book (Twisted, April 28th) right away. Thank you Edelweiss and Avon! Broken was a compelling read beginning to end. Cynthia Eden is a must-read author for me, I don't even look at the synopsis' of her books anymore, I just pick them up because I know no matter what kind of book it is, romantic suspense, paranormal romance, young adult, ect. - I am going to love it!
