Computer security specialist Elizabeth Martinez has never been able to turn her back on her brother Benny. When his risky lifestyle finally lands him in harm's way, Elizabeth finds herself dragged into the dangerous underworld with him and into the cross hairs of one of Miami's death-dealing drug lords. Only after her ex-boyfriend saves her does she realize she might have no choice but to depend on the one man she has tried so desperately to forget.

Former Marine Porter Caldwell never should have let Elizabeth walk away from him all those months ago. She means more to him than anything and now that she's in danger and turned to him for help, he won't make that mistake again. When a local gang targets her and she's nearly killed in a drive by shooting, Porter vows to do whatever it takes to keep her alive. Even if it means turning his back on all that he's sworn to uphold.

Thoughts:
Mystery, Intrigue, Explosive Danger, Non-Stop Action and Sizzling HOT Romance!!!!!!

NO ONE TO TRUST is the debut novel in Katie Reus' Red Stone Security Series.  I listened to the audible edition of it and it was an electrifying thriller!   The characters are well-written and fully developed and the plot is solidly crafted even though it's a relatively quick listen at just over four hours.  The premise of the series revolves around the Red Stone Security firm.

Both of the lead characters shined.  Former Marine, Porter Caldwell, our hero, has been mesmerized by Elizabeth, our heroine, since first meeting her.    His family owns the Red Stone Security firm and Elizabeth works there as a computer security specialist.  Porter has recently joined the firm having just retired from the military.  He and Elizabeth had a brief affair, but Elizabeth broke it off when Porter did not approve of the way Elizabeth always bailed out her brother, Benny.  As the story opens, Elizabeth is, again, bailing out her brother.  She has put herself in danger by picking Benny up from a known drug king pin's mansion in Miami.  She is unaware that the villain actually has his eye on her as the prize; Benny had been set up so Elizabeth would be beholden to the crook.  She's in over her head until Porter makes a dramatic entrance rescuing both Elizabeth and Benny.   However, it's not over as Elizabeth remains in danger.  The drug lord will stop at nothing to get her and Porter vows to allow no harm to come to her.  He has his hands full as the drug lord enlists a local powerful and far-reaching violent gang to assist in re-nabbing Elizabeth and Benny.

Porter was swoon worthy with the way he devoted himself to Elizabeth's safety.  He was tough, protective, and there for her through thick and thin even when she wasn't very happy about it. Alpha was written all over him.

Elizabeth was a piece of work;  She didn't make it easy for Porter by not fully cooperating with him nor did she unquestionably follow his instructions.  She also withheld crucial information.  Under the circumstances they were in, I wanted to shake her as she was not the only one endangered by her refusal to fully comply.  However, as the story progressed, the reason she would drop everything for her brother came to light and, after that, she became a more relatable character.  She was certainly strong-willed with a feisty outlook.  Their yummy, tension-filled chemistry was steamy and I enjoyed their scenes together.

The narrator, Pyper Down, was quite good and perfectly suited for this type of book.  Her voice was crisp, clear and well-paced.  She differentiated her voice between the characters making it easy for the listener to know who was speaking.  Her narrating was more of a reader than an actress, but that style worked well with this book.

The story flows smoothly and quickly keeping readers/listeners spellbound.  Katie certainly knows how to write romantic suspense!   I never saw the surprise. shocking ending coming and it totally rocked!  You will definitely want to buckle your seatbelt with this one as it's a wild ride!  If you are looking for an intriguing and passionate mystery without a dull moment, look no further than NO ONE TO TRUST!
