A Guy’s Perspective On The Night Huntress Series

Hey Frosties! So today I have a special guest joining us at Reading Between the Wines. The lovely Rhi from RhiReading has graciously loaned out her man candy to me today to give us a guy’s perspective on the Night Huntress series.

First and foremost though I want to wish Adam a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you..." Hey, why are you holding your ears? Okay, okay...

So Adam, can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

I'm a father of 3 and married to the greatest woman in the world.  I am a listened falconer who will be taking his first passage Red Tail Hawk in the Autumn and I am super psyched about it, BUNNIES BEWARE!  I also like to nerd out with family while playing World of Warcraft and I tend to read books more at work on breaks and lunch than at home due to the quiet... mmmmm quiet.

Are you an avid reader? What are some of your favorite genres?

I read quite a bit, reading a series of book is my favorite as I can get that dreaded first book done so the rest is just story and development. I like Military Science Fiction like E.E. Knight's Vampire Earth and Urban Fantasy. My favorites include the Cal Leandros series by Rob Thurman, The Hollows/Rachel Morgan series, Night Huntress/World (obviously), and Vicki Pettersson's Signs of the Zodiac novels. I recently started the Fever series and am currently on book 3. So far I'm 50/50 on it.

Paranormal/Urban Fantasy Romance is known to have more of a female following, what made you pick up the Night Huntress series?

My wife had suggested it to me as one series I would probably like, and I was a huge Buffy fan.

Always nice to meet another Buffy fan!

Which novel have you enjoyed the most?

I would say First Drop of Crimson.  It didn't have the ridiculous Cat and Bones "OMG WE GOTTA HAVE SEX RIGHT NOW!" every other page.  I'm a guy and I want to see guys beating ass and winning the girl over.  Cat likes sex and I can appreciate a woman with a healthy appetite but I don't need to read it every other damn page.

What do you think about all these ladies, including myself, swooning over Bones?

I think they had a Spike crush in the Buffy days so it makes it easy to relate to the bad boy character, I think Spade can take him though.

Actually I was more of an Angel girl, that whole tortured/cursed hero thing, then when he turned all evil....yeah...*ahem* Back to the interview.
Who is your favorite character in the series?

Spade, he is all business when he has to be with no stupid quips *coughBonescough*, lady time comes when it has too.

Do you have a favorite quote or scene?

I like the ending of First Drop of Crimson, *spoiler alert* Denise and Raum where duking it out and Spade was flying super sonic to get to her to protect her.  When he sees them for the first time she is all ghouled out and holding her own, being a book you create an image in your head while reading and I must say it was pretty sick. ;)

What did you think of Chapter 32? *wink, wink*

I felt that being already a "special" sort of vampire she didn't really need to take it to the extreme she did with Cat if that is what you're talking about.  If it's about Mencheres and his visions that man has WAY too many secrets and needs a hobby like Falconry! *wink, wink*

*sigh* Men... ;)
What are you looking forward to in This Side of the Grave?

I actually haven't read the blurb yet but I would like to know who/where/what this Timothy character has been all this time being that Ian sired three vampires and we have only met two of them. That is what I would hope would be in it.

What does Rhi think of your Night Huntress fandom?

She just started reading them not too long ago so I've had to keep a tight lid on spoilers, but I think she appreciates someone she can talk to about her books that's within earshot.

Is there anything else that you would like to add?

I wonder who would win in a fight between Rachel Morgan and Catherine Crawfield...

Thanks again Adam for stopping by and I hope that you have a fabulous birthday tomorrow. Make sure to treat him right Rhi. ;) And I know a book that would make an excellent birthday present!
You can find more of Adam at Adventures in Falconry and Rhi at RhiReading

So who do you think would win in a fight? Rachel Morgan (The Hollows) or Cat Crawfield?

3 Days to go! *squee*

  1. :D Isn't he dreamy?

Right now I think Cat would kick Rachel's ass. But I'm trying to catch up on The Hollows so ... I'd rather throw a couple of book boys into a ring and watch the man muscles duke it out. ;)

  2. I'm going to say Cat would totally win. However... I've not read the Rachel Morgan series, so my answer is totally based on bias. Is The Hollows series something I should pick up?

  4. I adored this! I would have to disagree though and say that I love the sex every other damn page!! It is so hot! But I would love to have someone to talk to face to face about the books I read! My husband is too obsessed with video games.

  5. LOL! Us women LOVE the sex every damn page (well I do) LOL! Maybe that is why guys have to listen up and pay attention to what we want! They think they may know but as you can see we have other ideas. :D

Definitely Cat in a fight. She know how to take it and give it!

  6. Love seeing a guy's perspective on this! I've been trying to get my husband to read the books (or at least Chapter 32), so now I know what I might expect.

But, really, what's wrong with the oh-my-god-sex thing?

  7. Wow, that was interesting. Reading that a man don't really appreciate if there're erotic scenes on every fifth page was weird. I think I have to rethink my opinion an men :P
But it's awsome that Rhi has someone who she can talk to about books. In my family I'm th e only one who read paranormal romantics, even my sisten's not interested in them, and what's more, I can't talnk to my friends, either... It's hard to hold my thoughts to myself. So I would give almost everything to get a husband like Adam :P

  10. I do not know who would win between Cat and Rachel. They both have different skills which make them formidable opponents.

  11. I am so behind on the Rachel Morgan series that I feel like I'm missing something that would make a fight between her and Cat close... so I reserve judgment. ;) LOL

And the fact that he TOTALLY missed what Chapter 32 meant... I fell backwards laughing. OH MEN. One summer my friends and I were going on and on about the pros and cons of Chapter 32, and our guy friend who was with us finally wanted to know what we were going on about. He read just that chapter. His reactions to it were the funniest things ever!!!

I also found it interesting how he was not liking the sex every five pages, haha. Although, now that I think about it, all my guy friends that would flip through the book would inevitably land on a page with something suggestive, yet were never interested in it. Must be something about READING it that makes it different for them, lol!

  14. First I was to say Happy B-Day to Adam!

I loved seeing his side of the books. I've not heard a lot of male perspectives on the books that I love.

Seeing as I have not read the other choices books I'd have to say that Cat would kick her butt!

  15. I haven't read the Hollows so I don't know Rachell but I think that Cat would still beat her ass seven ways from Sunday! I mean the girl has the guts to kill her own husband if he all of a sudden turned evil (AGE)!!!!

  16. Isn't Rhi lucky, ladies, to have a man she can talk books with? I'm still trying to get the hubs to at least read one (one very special!) chapter but he refuses. =P

@ Juliann (the Insane)'Must be something about READING it that makes it different for them, lol!'
I thought the same thing! LoL I'm glad you all enjoyed it, it was fun!

Thanks again Adam for doing the interview and Rhi for loaning him out for a bit! ;) XOXO
