Lexi: We have a new series from you! E- ok, I will stop myself from excitedly squealing again. But Hard Ink sounds great, another hot series from you. So let’s get down to it...Nick is the hot tattooist. Who was your inspiration for this hunk of a man?
Laura: The physical inspiration was actor Tyler Hoechlin, with his chocolate brown hair and pale green eyes. Otherwise, Nick came to me first as a tortured hero damaged physically and emotionally from having his honor stolen by the series of events that saw him discharged from the Army. But pretty quick I knew he was now part-owner of a tattoo parlor and that he did that work sometimes, too. And I absolutely loved the combination of a hard-edged Special Forces operative with artistic skills…
Lexi: Whenever I catch a glimpse of some ink from under a man's shirt collar or peeking from under a sleeve it ramps up the attraction level. On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being throw your shirt on the floor, what is your attraction to tattoos?
Laura: LOL! Well, 10, obviously! And I totally agree with you! I’ve always been fascinated by tattoos and have two myself (so far)!
Lexi: How long have you been wanting to write this series? And of course my brain is begging to know, how many are you planning for the Hard Ink series?
Laura: Honestly, this series was a bit of a surprise. In August 2012, two New York publishers contacted me and asked if I had anything to sell them, and I didn’t. Everything I had was contracted as part of an existing series. So over the course of a week, I brainstormed five series proposals, strategized with my then brand new agent which might be best to work up and submit, and we agreed on the Hard Ink series. From brainstorming to sale was about three weeks, so it all happened very quickly! It was totally amazing! There will be at least four full-length novels and one novella in the series that I know about for sure!
Laura: Aw, thank you! So glad you enjoy those series! The last book in each of those will come out in 2014! In terms of tattoos, I have one on my right wrist and one on my right shoulder.
Lexi: We love having you stop by the blog Laura. Congrats on a new series and book one's release, Hard As It Gets. Great title by the way, makes me laugh every time I read it. Hope to see you back for book two, Hard As You Can!
Laura: Yay! Thank you so much for hosting me! And on the titles, I know, right? My husband’s friends always have a field day with the titles any time he posts about my books on FB! Heh!
Thanks for reading!
