Hidden in plain sight… Former Marine sniper and current NSA agent Jack Stone has a new face to go with his new identity. But he still has the same tortured memories—which include the woman he let get away years ago, when they were teenagers. Now his new assignment in Miami will put him so close to the woman he’s never been able to forget, he could reach out and touch her—if only she weren’t under suspicion. When Sophie Moreno uncovers evidence linking the medical supply company she works for with arms smuggling—and worse—she doesn’t know who to turn to. After a shocking betrayal, she realizes the only person she can trust is a mysterious new person in the company—a man with hauntingly familiar eyes. As Sophie questions her intense attraction to this man and Jack struggles not to blow his cover, the two of them must race against the clock to stop terrorists from killing scores of people—starting with them.

Thoughts:

Targeted was an edgy, sexy thrill-ride that kept me turning the pages for more!

Jack Stone gave up his life and his identity to be part of a top secret team of NSA operatives. But as a former foster kid and marine he wasn't loosing much. His only regret was leaving behind the girl he loved and failed as a teenager. When his new assignment brings him home to Miami though he comes face to face with that same girl. Sophie Moreno and the company she works for is under suspicion for arms dealing and terrorism, but Jack knows that Sophie is innocent. Now he has to prove it and find the real culprit, all without blowing his identity. But Sophie's no fool. She knows there is something not quite right going on with her company and the man she looked at as a father figure, and though Jack looks like a stranger there's no denying there is something oh so familiar about him. It's a race against time to stop the terrorist's next shipment and save not only their lives, but others as well.

Targeted started out with a bang and the shots just kept coming! The story was fast paced and filled with danger, tension and suspense. I liked both of the main characters in the story, they were well written with great chemistry. Jack might have a new face but Sophie recognizes something inside of him that is all Sam. My only problem with the story was the reality of the Sam/Jack reveal, it was just a tad off for me. I think it was because if I were in Sophie's shoes I would have had a lot more questions and it would have taken me longer to work through and get comfortable with the whole Jack/Sam identity. Everything else about the story I enjoyed though. The world building was great, and I could easily picture myself in Miami alongside the characters. I'm excited for the next Deadly Ops book and the strings that were left hanging for the continuation of the series!
