Character Costume Party with Leia Shaw of Destiny Forgiven

Halloween is over, costumes are crumpled up in the corner, you're finding candy wrappers on every surface, and you're sick and tired of pumpkins but don't start decorating for Christmas yet because we have two great authors joining us today to close out our Character Costume Party! First up with paranormal romance author, Leia Shaw, and her delightful characters from Destiny Forgiven

“So this is what Halloween is like in America?” Felicity asked as she tried to keep her balance across the rocky terrain.  She looked down at her new shoes – the black pumps of death.  “Sage has an interesting sense of humor.”

“You’re telling me.” Maddox arched a fuzzy gray brow. The gray eyebrow went with the long gray beard, which matched the old-fashioned cloak and pointy hat.

She giggled. “Why did we let her pick our costumes again?”

“I have no idea,” he grumbled. “Dress the sorcerer as Dumbledore. Fucking hilarious.”

Her feet ached as she hobbled toward the house lit up in the distance. Metal music blasted from open windows. “At least you can bend over in your costume.” Yanking at the skin-tight black lycra covering her body didn’t stretch it out like she hoped.

Maddox turned and his gaze roved over her spandex suit. “I approve of you bending over.” Even in the dark, she could see his eyes gleam with wickedness. “I bet there’s a stump or a rock around here that’s the perfect height.”

She pushed his chest playfully. “By the time I got this suit off, the party would be over. Why did she think a cat was such a clever costume anyway?”

“Mmmm.” He trailed a hand over the curve of her ass. “I don’t know, but I like it.”

Arousal spiked and she almost purred.

He hooked his arm around her waist and pulled her up against his body. “Aren’t you my kitty?” His breath was warm against her ear.

Her knees wobbled and she felt like melting into the ground. It was fucking hot when he called her that.

“I’m not a kitty,” she protested, though it sounded weak even to her. “I’m a ferocious lynx.”

Maddox yanked down the fake mustache and beard then lowered his head and kissed her. Kissing him now was a completely different experience than kissing him only a year ago. Then it was about power and domination. Now he teased her, nibbling her lips and coaxing her to play. She’d taught him that – how to play and how to love again.

Wrapping her arms around his neck, she breathed him in. His rich scent slid through her and she moaned. Maybe they could find a stump at the right height. There were enough trees around to hide them.

“Hey!” A girl called from the house. “Catwoman. Dumbledore. Get in here! We’re watching horror movies and doing shots whenever someone screams.”

Maddox sighed and Felicity stepped away, blushing.

“It’s like high school all over again,” Maddox said, readjusting his costume. “Getting caught making out in the woods.”

She laughed then cut off with a gasp when he wound a hand in her hair.

Tipping her head back, he stared into her eyes. “I love you, sweet girl.”

“I love you too, Maddi.”
