Tour: Donna Grant's Midnight's Master & Midnight's Lover (Interview)

Lexi: Today we get to sit down and see if Donna Grant likes wine, misses her men in kilts, and feels like giving us a tease of her new series.

Donna: So nice to be here. Thanks for having me.  As for wine, I turned my dining room into a wine room.  So, I’d say I definitely like wine. ;)

Lexi: Here we have a penchant for topless men, kilts or leather pants are always acceptable attire to accompany that look. And your covers are full of hot shirtless men.  The covers for your Dark Warriors series follow the theme of the Dark Sword series. Did you have any say in the covers for your new series?

Donna: Lol.  My wonderful editor likes looking at hunky men just as much as I do.  Saying that, you’ll notice that MIDNIGHT’S MASTER the guy is wearing a leather jacket.  That could be bad, but look a little lower at his bum.  That pretty much makes up for missing chesty/back muscles.  Lol

For MIDNIGHT’S LOVER, MIDNIGHT’S SEDUCTION, and MIDNIGHT’S WARRIOR they had cover shoots, and though I couldn’t be there, I did give them my idea of what my characters might be wearing.  You’ll get to see some muscles on the covers for sure!

As for having any say…kinda.  The art and marketing department at St. Martin’s Press is fabulous.  The few times I’ve asked for something to be changed, they did do it.  Though those times have been rare indeed.

Lexi: Speaking of your new series, Dark Warriors, are you excited to be writing something new? Though it is not totally new as the story line follows where the Dark Sword series left off. Do you have a favorite hero in this series yet?

Donna: I am excited to be moving into contemporary setting.  Excited and more than a little nervous at how readers will respond.  It’s new and I love how my medieval Warriors are so out of their depth in the modern world and have to adapt.  Made for some interesting scenes in the books.  Lol

My favorite Warrior is whatever book I’m working at the time.  But saying that, I will say that I’m more than looking forward to writing Phelan and Malcolm’s stories. :D

Lexi: You must love Scotland to have featured it in both of these series. What is your favorite place, the spot you could return to every time you step foot on Scottish soil?

Donna: Scotland is fabulous!  There was never any doubt that’s where I wanted to set the series.  Scotland is beautiful wherever you go.  There wasn’t a place we drove that I didn’t fall in love with.  But there’s something truly magical about the Highlands.  All those mountains and glens and the green, green forests.  The mist coming off the mountains, the sun shining on the lochs.  A wonderland of beauty at any angle.

Lexi: Has your husband ever accompanied you to Scotland, and if he did, did you manage to get him in a kilt?

Donna: My hubby is of Scottish decent, and he was in a kilt long before we ever went to Scotland.  Even my 9 yo son had his first kilt when he was but 7.  We took the entire family when we went to Scotland, and had a blast touring all the castles.

Lexi: 2012 is going to be super busy for you. Starting May 22 with the release of Midnight’s Master. Are you going to get away and have a vacation this summer, or will it be full of book promotions?

Donna: Yes, between the releases and deadlines my 2012 is super packed.  I am making room for a family vacation in July.  I need that time to rest, relax, and get ready to get back into it all.  lol

Lexi: Maybe you can break up the craziness with some wine! Thanks for stopping by Donna, and hope your new series is a hit!

Donna: Wine is a must! ;)  Thanks for having me.

About the Author:
Donna Grant is the bestselling, award-winning author of more than twenty-five novels spanning multiple genres of romance.
She was born and raised in Texas but loves to travel. Her adventures have taken her throughout the United States as well as to Jamaica, Mexico, and Scotland. Growing up on the Texas/Louisiana border, Donna’s Cajun side of the family taught her the “spicy” side of life while her Texas roots gave her two-steppin’ and bareback riding.
Her childhood dream was to become a professional ballet dancer and study under the amazing Mikhail Baryshnikov. Though she never got to meet Baryshnikov, she did make it to New York City and performed in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Later, Donna’s love of the romance genre and the constant stories running through her head prompted her to sit down and write her first book. Once that book was completed, there was no turning back.
Donna sold her first book in November 2005 while displaced from Hurricane Rita, a storm that destroyed portions of the Texas Gulf Coast. Since then, Donna has sold novels and novellas to both electronic and print publishers. Her books include several complete series such as Druids Glen, The Shields, Royal Chronicles, Sisters of Magic, Dark Sword, Dark Warriors, and her new series, Dark Kings.
Despite the deadlines and her voracious reading, Donna still manages to keep up with her two young children, four cats, three fish, and one longhaired Chihuahua. She is blessed with a proud, supportive husband who loves to read and travel as much as she does.
