The Cruise-All That Glitters by Jaye Frances (Guest Post/Giveaway)

Good morning, I hope you lovelies are enjoying the weekend! Today I would like to welcome back author, Jaye Frances...

Thank you, Crystal, for having me back on Reading Between The Wines Book Club. I really appreciate the opportunity to give your readers a taste of my new romantic comedy, The Cruise – All That Glitters.

The sculpted torso of a Chippendale dancer. The muscled thighs and hourglass waist of a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader. Both a feast for the senses, stimulating our imagination, desires, and fantasies. But what happens when the object of our attention is more than just a fleeting moment of entertainment? What if our dream lover was suddenly brought to life and we had the opportunity to meet them face-to-face, to evaluate as a potential life partner? Would we be able to see beyond the overwhelming influence of superficial beauty, and recognize the more enduring traits of personality, character, and disposition?
In the following excerpt from The Cruise-All That Glitters, Dean, the main character, is given just such an opportunity. Infatuated at first sight, he wonders if his quest to find the perfect woman has finally been realized.

Here’s an excerpt:

Her nails glistened from a coat of clear polish, setting off the smooth sheen of tiny, nearly invisible blond hairs just above her wrist. I wanted to slide my arm around her and pull her close. I wanted to trace her face with my fingers. The thought of tasting her mouth left me feverish.

She nodded at the pamphlet. “This has a description of the boats they use, but it doesn’t really tell much.” The right strap fell from her shoulder, allowing the fabric on that side to open, revealing the rounded fullness of her breast. I was sure she knew, and yet she didn’t seem to care, and it made her even sexier. “I wonder if there’s someone we can ask—to get more details.” She pointed at a paragraph under one of the pictures. “Now this is interesting. Read this.” She brought the flyer closer, and as she did, the fabric arched further away from her chest.

I looked down. It was impossible to ignore the surprising fullness, the smooth unblemished skin flowing to the nipple.

I remembered she had asked me to read something. What was it? I scanned the paragraph—something about private charters. Why was that important? It didn’t matter. I would come right out and ask her. “Is this something you’d like to do?”

She hesitated. “Yes, I think so.”

“Do you want me to check on tickets?” I asked.

This time she answered immediately. “Sure. And ask them how many people they put on each boat, and if there’s an age limit.”

“An age limit?”

“Well, if they put kids on board, I’ll have to behave myself.”

I nodded, as if I knew exactly what she meant. “Maybe we can get a boat for just adults.”

“That’s a good idea,” she nodded. “I don’t want to be around a bunch of screaming teenagers.”

“I’m sure they can work something out for us.” Us. It sounded so good.

“Here’s my cabin number,” she said, writing it down on the back of the brochure. “It’s D211. Now don’t lose it.” She smiled as she handed it to me.

“I’ll keep it in a safe place.”

She stepped back, turning toward the elevator. “Call me when you find out.” Her voice was light and playful.

I watched her push the call button and then throw me a look of mock surprise as the doors opened immediately. She waved before stepping inside. “Don’t forget,” she added. A moment later she was gone.

I would never forget.

I smelled the air, hoping to catch a lingering trace of her scent. Caressing the brochure in my fingers, I was sure I could feel the residual warmth of her hands. The feeling surged through me, my senses screaming to reconnect with her.

I wanted her. I wanted to be with her. Everywhere. Always.

In that instant, in that single moment, I knew I had found the woman. The one who would flirt with me, tease me, tame and control me, and then drive me insane as I handed her the keys to my safe deposit box. But it didn’t matter. Because I also knew that soon—very soon—I would f**k her. And not just once, but for a solid year I would f**k her. And then, after stopping briefly to bring in the mail and feed the cat, I would return to her for another year.

I was delirious.

Here’s a brief synopsis:
It’s love on the high seas for Dean, a thirty-something bachelor taking his first cruise, hoping for a shipboard romance. On the prowl for the elusive hard-body, he quickly becomes disillusioned, wondering if his expectation of a boatload of beautiful sea nymphs is something found only in travel brochures. Until he meets Angel. She is the girl of his dreams, brought to life as a bewitching goddess, ready to engage in every sensual delight. Quickly lured into submission by Angel’s seductive charms, Dean is ready to surrender his heart and soul to this provocative beauty. Until he meets Marcie . . .
