The Geek Girl and the Scandalous Earl by Gina Lamm (Interview/Giveaway)

Interviewed by Lexi...

L: Hmmm...in the mood for a hot and steamy read? Or maybe a light funny tale of romance and misadventure? How bout both, our guest today can suggest some of her books to satisfy any craving. Welcome Gina Lamm!
GL: Thanks so much for having me! May I have a glass of wine? ;)

L: You claim to be married to a real life superhero, but I think it is you who gets to live the life of secret agent. You get to play Mom, write erotic stories as Regina Cole, and light hearted romance as Gina Lamm! How do you keep it all straight?
GL: Well it helps that I can put my kids in crates when I need to! All my current children are of the four legged variety. I sort of thrive on chaos. I’m at my most productive when I’m at my wit’s end. Give me one job to do and I feel sort of frozen! But by having two writing personas, a full time job, and a house and furry family to take care of, I find myself very fulfilled!

L: Humor, erotica. Pasta, cheese. It makes sense in my head, just go with it. Do you ever combine the two, or is your writing style completely different between your alter egos?
GL: It’s not really different at all! I try to write the most human stories I can in both the erotic and mainstream worlds. And humans are very funny creatures. Some stories, like THE GEEK GIRL AND THE SCANDALOUS EARL, lend themselves to humor very well! Many of my erotic romances have humorous bits in them, but I wouldn’t call them “funny” stories. I don’t set out to write humor, I just write the story as I see it. And if it causes you to burst out laughing, shed a tear or two, or even gasp with fright, I’m happy.

L: Well I am glad you can juggle, because The Geek Girl and the Scandalous Earl sounds great! I love light hearted humorous romances, though they seem to be few and far between. Have you always thought of yourself as funny? How did you decide to write humor?
GL: My superhero husband and I laugh ALL. THE. TIME. My family laughs a lot. My friends and I laugh most every moment we’re together. I’ve always been an optimistic person, and I love sarcasm and wit. Cleverness just flips my switch. Humor is a way of being clever, and I adore clever people. Silly people, too. I try to write what I love, and I love to laugh so much that I have to do it every day!

L: Your heroine, Jamie, is a gamer. Love that you made the girl a gamer. Does this aspect of her come into play (no pun intended) in the book? Are you yourself one? If so, what do you like to play?
GL: I’m definitely a gamer girl. I love World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy, and Skyrim, among others. Jamie uses her gaming for escape, but since she’s been dumped 200 years in the past, she’s got the escape taken care of!

L: Your newest release is Geek Girls number one. Do you have grand designs swimming around in that head of yours?
GL: I do I do! Geek Girls #2, GEEK GIRLS DON’T DATE DUKES, is in the final polishing stages! The story of Leah, Jamie’s best friend and a geek in her own right, will hit the shelves in September of this year!
And there just might be the inklings of a third swimming in my thinkingbox…

L: Best laid plans...nah, ignore that and go do what you aim for! Glad you could stop by today and give us a peek into Gina Lamm. The Geek Girl and the Scandalous Earl is out now everyone! Go get a copy! I know I have to, it just sounds too perfect to pass up!
GL: Thanks! I hope you enjoy it!
Power to the Geek Girls!

THE STAKES HAVE NEVER BEEN HIGHER…
An avid gamer, Jamie Marten loves to escape into online adventure. But when she falls through an antique mirror into a lavish bedchamber—200 years in the past!— she realizes she may have escaped a little too far.
Micah Axelby, Earl of Dunnington, has just kicked one mistress out of his bed, and isn’t looking to fill it with another—least of all this sassy, nearly naked  girl who claims to be from the future.  Yet something about her is undeniably enticing…
Jamie and Micah are worlds apart. He’s a peer of the realm. She can barely make rent. She’s wi-fi. He’s horse-drawn. But soon the pair will do anything to avoid a Game Over.

Becoming a magician proved to be less interesting than Gina Lamm had anticipated when she was six, so in her adult life, she’s turned to writing. This belly-dancing, wisecracking, marshmallow-addicted mother of three energetic fur-children loves nothing more than penning funny, emotional tales of love, lust, and entertaining mishaps.Married to a real live superhero, she and her family live in North Carolina, surrounded by tobacco farms, possums, and the occasional hurricane.

Hi May! Thanks for stopping by!

Joanne, thank you! Authors usually give some basic information to the cover art department, and then they take that and turn it into a gorgeous cover! We don’t give them any direction, really. They’re too good at it! Just wait’ll you see the cover for the sequel. I LOVE IT SO HARD.

Hi Angieia! I hope you like it

  10. I'm reading this book right now. I really love that the book addresses some of the things that a modern girl would have to deal with if she got sent back in time, such as a lack of indoor plumbing. I know if I was in that situation that would definitely be an issue for me. :)
