Weather Witch by Shannon Delaney (Guest Post/Giveaway)

Today we would like to give a warm welcome to author, Shannon Delany, joining us with her new Y.A. Paranormal/Steampunk book, Weather Witch!

It's no secret to my fans that I love music and allow my creative process to be influenced by music. Although I wrote "Pieces of Eight" in TWO AND TWENTY DARK TALES with song lyrics that were crafted specifically for the story, WEATHER WITCH was the first time I worked with a singer/songwriter to craft lengthier songs that would carry action and allude to things to come. I worked with Wade Mulvihill of Oneonta, NY to do this and here are a couple of the verses in one very important song we call "Reeling."

No storm that ever strikes
Shall leave me helpless and afraid
And if darkness lingers heavy
I'll be fearless and brave

But if ever I am wary
If ever I am scared
I will listen to the wind
For the answer's always there

The sun burns like an ember
The air is cool and calm
But nothing lasts forever
In this world you must take on

The ground will shake and tremble
As the clouds divide
Rivers flood the land
And lightning parts the sky...

About the Book:
In a vastly different and darker Philadelphia of 1844, steam power has been repressed, war threatens from deep, dark waters, and one young lady of high social standing is expecting a surprise at her seventeenth birthday party–but certainly not the one she gets!
Jordan Astraea, who has lived out all of her life in Philadelphia’s most exclusive neighborhood, is preparing to celebrate her birthday with friends, family and all the extravagance they might muster. The young man who is most often her dashing companion, Rowen Burchette, has told her a surprise awaits her and her best friend, Catrina Hollindale, wouldn’t miss this night for all the world!
But storm clouds are gathering and threatening to do far more than dampen her party plans because someone in the Astraea household has committed the greatest of social sins by Harboring a Weather Witch.

About the Author:
Shannon Delany grew up in a community that was traditional and respectful of superstitions and old religions and was very creative. She was surrounded by arts, crafts, and other languages from a young age and enjoyed sampling everything that atmosphere had to offer. Her childhood directly impacted her fascination with myths, legends, and the paranormal and has enjoyed using that information to write her 13 TO LIFE and WEATHER WITCH novels and her short stories.

  5. Very cool - I love the cover art. What made you decide to set the book in Philly? I live not far from there, and love to read about places I know.
