Tour: Oracle of Philadelphia by Elizabeth Corrigan (Guest Post/Giveaway)

Happy Easter my friends, I hope everyone has a wonderful day with family and friends - whether you are celebrating or not. : ) Today I would like to give a warm welcome as well as a thank you to, Elizabeth Corrigan, for joining us on this holiday!

Reading vs. Writing

Among my friends and family, I am known for being especially picky about my reading and viewing habits. On any given occasion, a friend might mention a book or movie that he particularly enjoyed, and I will ask, “But would I like it?” The answer, quite often, is no. I have some friends who automatically view everything with an “Elizabeth-friendly” filter so they can make sure to recommend only things that I’ll like.

It’s not that I have particularly refined tastes. In fact, just the opposite—things that garner literary accolades or Academy Award nominations are often deemed too depressing for my tastes. I don’t like stories about wars or ones based on true stories. I eschew anything that doesn’t have any female characters, and if it doesn’t have a paranormal element, I’ll probably skip it. I joke that I don’t like stories that don’t end “And they all got married and lived happily ever after.” Except I’m not really joking. If it isn’t YA paranormal fantasy or a romantic comedy about zombies or mental illness, I’ll probably save my time and money.

Fallen Tears by Sarah J. Pepper (Spotlight/Giveaway)

Today we would like to share with you a spotlight on Sarah J. Pepper's, Fallen Tears, along with a giveaway!

An élite club of shamed angels – the Fallen – welcomes disgraced super-naturals, like me. Defiant and vengeful, we’re catalysts in destruction and mayhem, much to our angelic adversaries’ dismay. Satisfying the void left in our soulless bodies motivates many Fallen to play with feeble humans. For even though we wield infernal-powers, they have one thing we crave. Souls.
As a Fallen, an infinite number of days lay before me – if I choose. The Big Man upstairs always gives us a choice. I can accept my fate and perish, or consume a human’s soul and live. The last one I devoured glows like a firefly inside my chest. One day, it’ll flicker and fade into darkness. The Archangels who cast me from heaven would claim victory in the everlasting battle we wage, unless I consume another.
My next victim? A young man with ridiculously enticing lips. Gorgeous doesn’t define his otherworldly appearance. His vogue hairstyle accentuates his sky-blue eyes. His laugh echoes in my ears. His perfect smile is burned to memory. The undeniable urge to consume his soul unveils my wicked inhibitions. I want him… his soul. One teeny problem – he’s protected by a Guardian angel.

Tour: Suzan Butler's OFF HER GAME (Guest Post/Giveaway)

Please give a warm welcome to romance author, Suzan Butler!

The really great thing about my job is the research I get to do. So I thought I’d put a list here of five things I’ve done in the name of research for a book.

1) Learn how to ice skate
Of course, this was something I wanted to do anyway. It was part of my fascination with hockey, because I’ve always wanted to play. So, I took ice skating lessons, discovered I’m the Most Graceful Person in the world (not really) and then sprained my ankle in a really bad spill.

2) Visited a dungeon
I have several light kink books planned for the near future. I really wanted to learn the art of shibari, since my hero in one book was a rope expert. So, I got in contact with my local kink community (and I didn’t realize that there was a fairly active one in my area!) and introduced myself and went from there. Of course, the trouble with doing this is that then you’re constantly bombarded with more ideas to write…

Spring Into Romance: Down and Dirty by Christine Bell (Guest Post/Giveaway)

Thanks so much for joining us during a spring event! We hope that you're enjoying the warm weather and hot romance here as I know a lot of you are stuck in the cold and snow right now! If you really want to get into the mood though, put together your own little picnic in front of the fire with a book boyfriend. Our guest today has a hero that would be a great contender for that spot!

Thanks to the ladies at Reading Between the Wines for having me! I’m in the midst of a super fun blog tour for the second book in my Dare Me series called Down and Dirty and I am OBSESSED with lists lately! Reason being is that my heroine, Cat Thomas, lives her life based on her bucket list. She’s a wild child dare devil who will do just about anything once (and yes, Meatloaf, I’m looking at you. She will even do THAT). So along those lines, I had Cat whip up a top five list of what she would bring on a romantic picnic for two (which I’m hoping that, by the end of the book, she’ll be willing to share with my dreamy hero and her older brother’s best friend, Shane, who has spent the past ten years waiting for her to grow up and mellow out enough to see what’s been right in front of her the whole time).

Spring Into Romance: Against the Wall by Rebecca Zanetti (Guest Post/Giveaway)

Welcome back to our Spring Into Romance! We're making a long weekend out of it and hope that you'll stick around for some more fun on a picnic! Please give a warm welcome to our next guest, author Rebecca Zanetti!

An Unexpected Picnic on the Beach

I’d like to say a big thank-you to Crystal and the gang at Reading Between the Wines for letting me play here today.  They suggested I talk about picnics, and I instantly flashed back to college and a fun picnic I had on the beach.  I went to Pepperdine, which is in Malibu and near the ocean.

So, a bunch of friends and I were at a restaurant (it was called C&P’s at that time), and one of them had other friends from USC there.  We all had a drink and had some fun.  Soon and I walked out the door with one friend because we were making plans for jogging the next day.  I went back inside.  The entryway to C&P’s was a bit odd since it had two phones – and they were on opposing sides of the vestibule.  As I walked back in, one rang.

Seriously.  How odd is that?

Spring Into Romance: Love on the Line by Kimberly Kincaid (Character Interview/Giveaway)

Good morning and welcome back! Are you enjoying that lovely spring breeze? I smell something good on it too....mmm...Please give a warm welcome to our guests today, romance author Kimberly Kincaid and the heroine of her story, Violet!

Now that spring is in the air, there’s nothing quite like a picnic to get into the season. I teamed up with Violet, the heroine in my contemporary foodie novella Love On The Line, to get a sneak peek at what she’d pack for a delicious day with her hero.

Kimberly: Hi Violet! Wow, that picnic basket is humungous. Are you sure it’s just you and Noah going on this little outing?

Violet: Yep. What can I say? I’m a chef. When it comes to food, my motto is go big or go home.

Kimberly: I see that. So what’s on the menu?

I’m nervous. My hands twist together in my lap as I wait for the shop to open. I know last night’s dinner went well, but I wanted a moment to speak with Josie on my own. I stand as soon as the window sign indicates that they are open. I cross the street and climb the three cobblestone steps and open the door. Door chimes signal my arrival.

Bobby & The Ex Ops Team Plan a Picnic For Annabelle

Bobby

There was too much testosterone in this room. How many guys did they think it took to pack two bags? One bag was already done, the one with enough clothes to get me through a week in Texas. It was this second bag that was giving me some problems. Looking over to the three men in the room with me, Declan, Riley, and our commander Jaxon, I shrugged my shoulders at a loss of what to do.

“I want to take her for a picnic to surprise her, but I don’t know what I should take for it.”

Spring Into Romance: Bound by Elisabeth Naughton (Guest Post/Giveaway)

Spring is officially in the air and what better way to celebrate it then with a good romance book? Welcome to our weekend event, SPRING INTO ROMANCE! The theme for the weekend is a romantic spring picnic and we have some truly awesome authors joining us. To kick things off please welcome Eternal Guardians author, Elisabeth Naughton!

Top ten list of what to bring on a romantic picnic

10. Wine! I don’t think I’ve written a scene where any of my guardians are drinking wine--they’re usually on the run and wine is one of those things you need time to savor--but wine is a must-have for any picnic I attend.

9.  iPod and portable small speakers to set the mood. I have an iHome set I take everywhere. (I love music.)

8. Something decadently chocolatey. Wine and chocolate go hand in hand.

Burning Embers by Hannah Fielding (Guest Post/Giveaway)

Please help me give a warm welcome to romance author, Hannah Fielding!

Finding love in the heavens

There is something utterly spellbinding about having a bird’s eye view of the world – it is pure escapism from the humdrum that gives you a unique and powerful perspective on life, and it never fails to get blood rushing through your body. No wonder, then, that taking in a view with a loved one is a recipe for a romantic atmosphere.

In my novel Burning Embers, the scenery of wild and beautiful Kenya provides a colourful, vivid backdrop to the love story, so I could not resist taking my lead characters, Rafe and Coral, up high together to stir up the passionate feelings smouldering within them.

First, Rafe pilots a hot air balloon across the landscape, to afford Coral a chance to take photographs of the wildlife (and giving Rafe a chance to admire her at work):

Reality TV Top Ten

In my current release, Seven-Night Stand, the heroine, Vivvy, is trying to get the hero, Nate, to agree to do a reality TV show on his family business. Nate is less than thrilled about the idea, sure that a reality show will try to show his family at its worst.

Can't blame him there, but I do love a good reality TV show. I think they're fascinating, especially the competition type shows. So, I thought I'd share with you guys my top ten reality TV shows.

Susanna Kearsley's The Firebird (Excerpt/Giveaway)

Today we have a special excerpt and a fabulous giveaway from Sourcebooks and Susanna Kearsley's upcoming release, THE FIREBIRD!

The Firebird
by Susanna Kearsley
Paperback, 320 pages
Expected publication: June 4th 2013
ISBN 1451673825
Whoever dares to seek the Firebird may find the journey—and its ending—unexpected.
Nicola Marter was born with a gift. When she touches an object, she sometimes sees images; glimpses of those who have owned it before. It’s never been a gift she wants, and she keeps it a secret from most people, including her practical boss Sebastian, one of London’s premier dealers in Russian art.
But when a woman offers Sebastian a small wooden carving for sale, claiming it belonged to Russia’s Empress Catherine, it’s a problem. There’s no proof. Sebastian believes that the plain carving—known as “The Firebird”—is worthless. But Nicola’s held it, and she knows the woman is telling the truth, and is in desperate need of the money the sale of the heirloom could bring.
Compelled to help, Nicola turns to a man she once left, and still loves: Rob McMorran, whose own psychic gifts are far greater than hers. With Rob to help her “see” the past, she follows a young girl named Anna from Scotland to Belgium and on into Russia. There, in St. Petersburg—the once-glittering capital of Peter the Great’s Russia—Nicola and Rob unearth a tale of love and sacrifice, of courage and redemption…an old story that seems personal and small, perhaps, against the greater backdrops of the Jacobite and Russian courts, but one that will forever change their lives.

Writing is fun, but it’s also a job.

For me writing is a creative, spontaneous act of concentrated effort. I’m lucky to be able to write full time, but that doesn’t mean I have all the time in the world to dedicate to my writing. I’m a wife and mother of three teenage girls, so there’s a lot to take up my time—a lot to distract me. If I waited for “inspiration” to strike I might never write.

Immortal Protector by Claire Ashgrove (Spotlight)

Today I would like to share with you a new novella from a favorite and fascinating series of mine from Claire Ashgrove!

Immortal Protector
The Curse of the Templars,
Companion Novella
After the brutal murder of his seraph, Iain Donnelly's salvation is eternally lost. Damned to become a dark knight of Azazel, he can no longer embrace his immortal purpose as a Templar Knight. When the archangels send him on Sabbatical to find his faith once more, his quest leads him straight into the forbidden arms of a Benedictine Sister, whom Azazel is threatening.  But this woman arouses far more than his protective instincts.  He wants her as he's wanted no other woman, and he's willing to provoke the archangels’ fury to keep her safe.
Catherine Grady has devoted herself to the fellowship of faith and forged a path of eternal dedication to a higher calling.  But when a traffic accident forces her to accept Iain's aid, she discovers that her chosen path is not what her heart craves.  Iain awakens a buried yearning to be needed and loved in a way her broken childhood denied her.  As she struggles to reconcile her desires, she stumbles into the truth about her heritage, ancient secrets, and unholy danger.  Iain's immortality is all that can protect her.
For Iain, it's an impossible choice.  The archangels have decreed if he walks away from the Templar, they will reclaim his soul.  Yet returning to the Order only guarantees his inevitable death…

No Turning Back by HelenKay Dimon (Guest Post/Giveaway)

Please give a warm welcome back to RBtWBC to author, HelenKay Dimon!

Thank you for having me here today to talk about my upcoming release, NO TURNING BACK (out March 19th).  This book launches a new single title contemporary romance series and I'm thrilled to talk about it.

Part of the fun of starting a new book is putting all the settings and characters together in my head.  At some point my publisher's art department asks for photos and ideas about the book so someone can get started on making a cover.  Knowing this is coming, one of the things I now do when I start writing is collect photos to put the visual inspiration in my head.

Barbara Morgenroth's Nothing Serious (Guest Post/Giveaway)

Please help me in welcoming author, Barbara Morgenroth!

A Sex Comedy Without the Sex
Barbara Morgenroth

That's how Andrew Sarris, the film critic, defined screwball comedies of the 1930's.  America had entered the Depression, people were out of work, life was grim and they wanted to go to the movies to take the only vacation they could afford--ten cents to sit in the dark for a few hours.
These movies often featured the disparity between the wealthy and the not so well-off, the upper class and the common folk, and the story always put the two groups together so they could interact.  By the closing credits, the wealthy usually came out worse for wear, but having learned valuable lessons.

The Geek Girl and the Scandalous Earl by Gina Lamm (Interview/Giveaway)

Interviewed by Lexi...

L: Hmmm...in the mood for a hot and steamy read? Or maybe a light funny tale of romance and misadventure? How bout both, our guest today can suggest some of her books to satisfy any craving. Welcome Gina Lamm!
GL: Thanks so much for having me! May I have a glass of wine? ;)

L: You claim to be married to a real life superhero, but I think it is you who gets to live the life of secret agent. You get to play Mom, write erotic stories as Regina Cole, and light hearted romance as Gina Lamm! How do you keep it all straight?
GL: Well it helps that I can put my kids in crates when I need to! All my current children are of the four legged variety. I sort of thrive on chaos. I’m at my most productive when I’m at my wit’s end. Give me one job to do and I feel sort of frozen! But by having two writing personas, a full time job, and a house and furry family to take care of, I find myself very fulfilled!

The Melody In Our Hearts by Roberta Capizzi (Guest Post/Giveaway)

Book tour

“…and they lived happily ever after.”

Aren’t these the words we always loved to read on the last page of a good book? It seems like all the best fairy tales our parents used to tell us when we were children, and all the Disney movies we used to watch made it quite clear that the happy ending was a must – and quite easy to achieve, too. With hindsight I can only say: How deceitful!

Okay, I guess maybe I was too naïve, but I grew up thinking that happy endings not only were possible, but they were the rule. Well, maybe Prince Charming became extinct sometimes during the Ice Age and nobody bothered to inform us – or Disney screenwriters, for that matter – but I’ve come to understand pretty soon that happy endings rarely exist in real life, and that life definitely isn’t a fairy tale.

TO TRUST A THIEF by Michelle McLean (Guest Post/Giveaway)

Today I would like to give a warm welcome to historical romance author, Michelle McLean!

Thanks so much for having me on your blog today!

You know, one of the best parts of sending a new book out into the world was celebrating its release with my family. They have always been my biggest cheerleaders, my staunchest supporters. Family is one of the most important things to me. I’ve always been close to my family and hate the fact that we live so far apart. And although they sometimes drive me crazy, there is nothing I wouldn’t do for them.

But I sometimes wonder what would have happened if I’d ever had to choose between them and someone else I loved. What if my family hadn’t approved of the man I wanted to marry? Or what if my love for and loyalty to my family was in opposition somehow to my love and loyalty to someone else? What do you do when your heart is being pulled in two different directions?

Stone Cold Revenge by Jess Macallan (Guest Post/Giveaway)

Woot! Happy Friday-Eve, my friends! I hope everyone's week is going well. Today I would like to give a warm welcome to author Jess Macallan who has brought a special guest with her!

Thanks so much for having me at Reading Between the Wines today! I’m celebrating the release of Stone Cold Revenge, the second book in my Set in Stone series. My heroine, Elle, wants to hijack the post for a public service announcement for readers...

Hey there! As Jess said, my name is Elle and for those of you who read the first book, Stone Cold Seduction, you know my father is a jerk. Actually, that’s a big understatement. For those of you who haven’t read my story, my father, Jedren, is a World Class Evil Bastard. He had me tortured on a regular basis to groom me as his heir. How that was helpful, I have no idea. Long story short, he now expects me to take over his empire and be grateful for the opportunity. So not going to happen.
