Mika Stillwater isn't known for her skills with combat magic. As a gargoyle healer, she spends her days mending broken appendages and curing illnesses in the living-quartz bodies of Terra Haven's gargoyles. But when a squad of the city's elite Federal Pentagon Defense warriors requests her assistance in freeing a gargoyle ensnared in a vicious invention, Mika jumps into the gray. No one could have predicted that her involvement would ignite a chain reaction set to destroy the city, the world, and magic itself. Brimming with epic magic and lovable gargoyles, Curse of the Gargoyles is the second story in the mesmerizing Gargoyle Guardian Chronicles trilogy. Fantasy fans young and old will delight in this highly original world and exciting, action-packed adventure.

Lexi’s Thoughts:
Binge reading is the only way to go with the Gargoyle Guardian series. Curse of the Gargoyles picks up shortly after book 1 so you can trick yourself into feeling like you are reading a full novel. Which you will want after reading Magic of the Gargoyles.
Mika is slowly becoming comfortable with her abilities and the title of Gargoyle Healer. The siblings she saved in book one have mostly gone off but one of them, Oliver, sticks around. And Oliver is needed since he can boost Mika’s power and she has a situation over her head.

The FPD, Federal Pentagon Defense, is back and they are asking for Mika’s help. A gargoyle is trapped in the park by something that could overtake the city. The majority of book two centers around this magic instability and the FPD and Mika’s attempts to eliminate it.

Curse of the Gargoyles continues with the strong world building set in book one and delves deeper into Mika’s life and how she will become a major player in her city. We finally get some romance during their fight in the park which is a bit of an odd time for Mika to notice Markus, a member of the FPD, in the romantic sense.

Timing aside book two is fun and enjoyable and brings more magic and gargoyles! This series will hit the right spots with fantasy fans and wet the appetite of romance fans. It will be exciting to pick up book three and see where Chastain takes Mika!
