Lick seriously rocked my world, I loved this book so much!
I wasn't sure what to expect going into the story, with a drunken marriage in Vegas to a rock star seeming a tad cliché' I had my doubts. Kylie Scott quickly blew all of my dubiety away though within the first few pages.
Evelyn Thomas wakes up in her hotel bathroom in Vegas with a nasty hang over and no recollection of the night before, which happened to be her twenty first birthday. Not even when a dark haired, tattooed sex God walks into the bathroom, his face full of concern, can she put together the pieces. She can't remember how she got there, the sex God's name and she sure as heck doesn't remember how a monster of a ring got on her finger. And Mr. Tall, Dark and Sexy doesn't seem to be too happy about her memory lapse.
David Ferris, guitarist and song writer for the hot rock band Stage Dive, quickly reassures Ev that they can obtain an annulment though he is reluctant to share the details of their spur of the moment marriage. But that's okay, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, right?
Leaving Vegas with a killer headache and a promise that she can forget her crazy trip ever happened, Ev arrives in her hometown of Portland, ready to get back to her well planned and organized life. But when the paparazzi ambush her at the airport those hopes are quickly dashed. Told from Ev's perspective, you can quickly relate to the insanity of an instant stardom that you are totally unprepared for. After Ev returns home to a media circus on her parents front lawn, David via his security guy Sam, quickly gets her to L.A. where he can see to her safety and push through the annulment with his lawyers. But once these two start to spend some one-on-one time together they quickly realize that there is something more than just one drunken night between them. Ev's character feels very real, she has a believable image and the normal insecurities that any other woman would have in her shoes. David is gorgeous, sweet, and caring but battles with trust issues and holds more than one secret close, their marriage night being only one of many. As the story progressed I kept looking down at my Kindle to see how many pages I had left, and I wanted to cry as the number quickly dwindled. That is what happens when you can't put a book down! Thankfully though, Lick is just the start to what promises to be an amazing new series and I can look forward to more from this rock star cast of fabulous characters.
In just one sitting I have quickly become Stage Dive's newest fan girl and will be searching out more books from this new-to-me author, Kylie Scott. A funny, sexy, emotion packed ride through music and love - Lick has a couple that will tug at your heart, a story you won't be able to put down and a colorful array of characters that you will be dying to know more about. I know I am!
