Christina Thompson's Chemical Attraction (Guest Post)

Now I would like to welcome author Christina Thompson who is joining us with her romantic thriller, Chemical Attraction. Enjoy!

Thank you for inviting me to guest post and promote my romantic thriller, Chemical Attraction.  When I first started writing, I was also invited to join a Holistic Health Center. As a massage therapist and acupuncturist, I was drawn to their supportive group. To best promote each other, we took the opportunity to try each modality. Besides acupuncture and massage, the center offered reiki, reflexology, hypnosis, and past life regression (PLR).

I had my first past life regression session. Some believe that the history of the soul’s journey is recorded and stored in the unconscious mind, available for retrieval at any time.  Looking at your past is thought to bring meaning, insights, and clarity to your present life. All I needed to do was put aside my analytical mind for a time and open my mind and heart.

In a relaxed trance, I first looked down at my feet. What I saw was the tan, dirty feet of a young Mexican woman. I wasobservingher surroundings through her eyes. In the mid-1800s, she lived on a poor dirt farm with her elderly father. At this particular moment in time, she watched her beloved disappear over the top of a dry grassy hill in the distance. During my session, I sobbed at the deep sorrow I felt coming from her. She had spent hours watching the hill, her emotions fluctuating between the desperate hope that he would come back for her and the consuming grief that he had moved on without her. Every day for the rest of her lonely life, she awaited the return of this man. With no friends and no love in her life, she had only her father, who worked her to the bone. Every day was the same. As an old woman, she died not knowing if the man had ever loved her at all.

After the session, I felt a profound sadness. My body literally trembled in pain for this person. The only thing she wanted in her simple life was to be loved. It broke my heart. Her story still haunts me, andI cry every time I tell her story. Was this woman made up from my imagination or was she a true past life? I don’t know, but if I was to make something up, it wouldn’t have been that.Real or not, it affects my writing.

I strive to write about those emotions that transcend all lives—to love and be loved. I am compelled to writecharacters with deep backstories. I want readers to step into these lives and feel the power of their emotions as I did during my PLR session.

Will I ever have another past life regression session? Only if I have severe writer’s block. It’s powerful, but just what I needed at that particular time in my own life. I still consider myself a novice; I have so much more to learn. I’d like to think the experience has made me a better writer. I hope you enjoy reading Chemical Attraction as much as I enjoyed writing it.

FBI Agent Joe Roberts wants that instant chemistry with a woman like the ones his sisters have with their husbands. After years of searching, he finds it with Dr. Madeline Pierce. The problem—she’s his contact on a dangerous case. When Madeline discovers an extensive operation of meth production and distribution within her medical research facility, Joe goes undercover as her boyfriend to determine the degree of company involvement. They determine the meth is financing a volatile nano-drug. The small West Michigan farming town is in turmoil over horrific animal attacks. Someone is experimenting outside the laboratory. Are human test subjects next? With the help of Joe’s sister Eva, who works at the local clinic, and her law enforcement husband, Joe and Madeline hunt for this new bio-weapon. Will they give in to temptation? She thinks he’s playing her like the men from her past. He needs to convince her otherwise.

Sex, Drugs, and Nanotechnology—Throw in murder, and you have the ingredients for Chemical Attraction.

Scientists don’t fully understand how nano-drugs affect the body’s chemical and physiological processes. It’s fascinating and terrifying. What if these small particles invaded our body without our knowledge? What if someone could tap into our brain to control our actions? Who would have the courage to stop it?
