Garrett Hawkins is the most valuable asset to his Special Forces unit—because frankly, the guy doesn’t care if he lives or dies anymore. Since the love of his life, Sage Weston, was kidnapped and killed with her medical unit a year ago, Garrett has turned the shell of his soul into the impenetrable armor of a finely-tuned fighting machine. Being the first tapped for the unit’s craziest missions is just fine by him. The less time for memories, and the agony they carve into his soul, the better.
It’s a plan that works—until one night, deep in the jungles of Thailand, Garrett’s world is upended when memories become stunning reality. The unit is called to rescue a group of kidnapped aid workers, only the head count on the retrieval is unexpectedly doubled. Sage and her teammates, believed dead, are very much alive. Only now that Sage is back in his arms, Garrett doesn’t know what to do. He has changed in dramatic and daunting ways, especially in the darker tastes of his passion. If he touches Sage again, he’ll want to claim her, restrain her…dominate her.
Is Sage’s love strong enough to let Garrett back in not only as her fiancé, but her Dominant? Can she trust that visiting the new shadows of his life will lead her to ecstasy and not ruin? Or can it be that Garrett’s discipline is exactly what her own soul needs to find its way back to life—and love—once again?

Crystal L's Thoughts:

Angel Payne caught my attention because she was mentioned by Shayla Black. And I luurrrvve Shayla Black. So when Crystal asked if I was interested in reviewing this book, I jumped on it. Let me tell you, I was not disappointed. Saved By His Submissive was an emotional roller coaster about a man who believed the love of his life was dead. For a year, Garrett fails to move on with his life and finds little reason to do more than throw himself into the most dangerous missions in the hopes that he'll go out in a blaze of glory. His friends and teammates are worried about him, but he can't muster up enough to care for much more than the fact that his fiancé is gone and he doesn't really want to live without her.

Then one night in the jungles of Thailand, on a mission to rescue a group of women who've been kidnapped and are on their way to be sold as sex slaves, Garrett is gifted a second chance because his fiancé Sage is among the women rescued. As happy as he is though, part of him struggles because he worries about Sage's acceptance of his new found darker passions in Dominance and Submission.

This book will have you going through a range of emotions. I had moments where I truly wished to reach in and strangle the ever loving crap out of Garrett or felt the overwhelming need to give Sage a hug. One way or another, you'll be rooting for this couple to work through their issues and move onto their HEA from beginning to end! So make sure you go out and get your copy of Saved By His Submissive soon because the second book, Handcuffed by Her Hero, is supposed to come out sometime this summer! I gave Garrett and Sage's story a 4 wine glass toast with a heartfelt wish that a commando of my own will magically appear in my bedroom tonight! (WHAT??? A girl can dream - right?!)

  1. I struggled with this one in the beginning & had to put it down. But I'm picking it back up :) I loved the chemistry between the characters...just couldn't get into the story.

    Great review.
