Oh, a time travel harem story? That sounds like it could be fun!
Before you started writing you were on stage, can you share with us any fun or wild stories about you acting, singing and dancing career?
Man, there are so many crazy stories from those days. When I was 12 I landed the role of Briggitta in a year long run of Sound of Music. I was young and silly, and when I saw some of the older kids mooning actors from off stage I thought, Hey, me and Gretl and Marta should do this too. One night, we mooned Maria, and we got in soooooo much trouble!!
When you first started your writing career, what is that best piece of advice you were offered and never forgot?
Be professional, accessible and flexibleJ
When writing do you listen to music or have the TV on, or do you need complete silence? Is there anything that you must-have in order to write?
I totally listen to music. Very, very loud in my headphones. I also need a cup of coffee nearby to get anything of value accomplished.
Share with us an average day as Laura Wright. You just woke up; do you need coffee right away? Do you wear your pajamas all day? Do you own a leopard print snuggie? Is your husband the master chef in the house? Do you have a glass of wine before bed? Give us all the dirty little details!
I am SO not a morning person, so yes, coffee in the am in a must! I get lunches for my kids and get them off to school. I wear pjs all day until I have to pick them up again *snort!* then its dinner making *ME, hubby cleans up afterward* homework help, bed, and maybe some work, reading – glass of red – and GRIMM or Daily Show!
How do you juggle a full time writing career and being a mom?
You know what, its not too hard of a juggling act. I actually thank God I can have both, stay home and be both. It’s a true blessing. Course laundry does pile up during deadline something fierce!
Have you ever had a character pop into your head for a mental conversation during an improper time? What do you do when this happens?
The boys always do this. In the car, in the shower, during my kid’s conference. Let’s not even go there during private, private moments! But I usually answer because odds are they’ve got something really important to tell me – something Ive missed in their stories.
You run into a vampire one night walking down the street. You…
A) turn tail and run!
B) ask him to bite you, purely for research purposes of course!
C) pull him into the nearest alley and have your naughty way with him.
D) pull out your tape recorder and ask him for an interview.
B and C – come on, they have to go together! Im a hussy like thatJ
Ha, I would of picked the same. We can be hussies together! LoL
What TV shows are on your DVR right now?
Grimm, Smash, Awake, Daily Show, Colbert Report, Tabitha Taking Over, Top Chef
What is in your TBR (to be read) pile right now?
Right now I am deep, hellishly deep, into the FEVER series. I’ve never reacted to books as I am to these. I feel almost lost right now as I read them. I want Barrons to love me and no other…sigh..
LoL, I think a lot of readers can relate to that on the FEVER series!
I love how you readily interact with your readers on FaceBook and Twitter; you constantly update your status with your current works, snippets, inspirational pictures (never stop) and more. Do you think that this has helped to get your name and works out there to more new readers as oppose to other authors who may not have a Twitter or FaceBook account or are most of your followers’ fans already?
I think it has absolutely helped get my name and the series out there! I am a people person, I love chatting and discussing books. It feels so wonderful and natural having a space for that.
I can’t let you go without talking about your boys, the Roman brothers – Alexander, Nicholas and Lucian. How did the Mark of the Vampire series come about; a dream, a song, or something else?
Ha! The series came about from one idea: The Breeding Male. When he came into my mind, so did all the questions. I have a huge love affair with family. Family of all shapes and sizes. And I wondered how the families who had the BM in their life went on, how they treated each other afterward..
Between Alexander (Eternal Hunger), Nicky (Eternal Kiss) and Luca (Eternal Captive); who would you say has given you the hardest time while writing their story and why?
Probably Nicky. He was the most closed, had the most to hide. He always felt so controlled to me, and I was going to force him to get out of control. It was problematic, but turned into one of my favorite books!
Nicky's was one of my favorites too, I think you captured all his layers perfectly!
If you had the chance to go out on a date with one of the Roman brothers, who would you choose and what would you do?
Oh jeez. A date, huh? A date I’d pick Alexander. He’s funny, sexy, fierce and would order a second dessert for me and pretend that he ate it so as to not humiliate meJ
