#Interview with Christi Barth, Author of The Reverse of Perfection!

Lexi: I am so excited to have this author back to the blog! If you are in the mood for an excellent contemporary romance with characters you want as friends pick up any of her books. Welcome Christi Barth!

Hi everyone – I love stopping by here to talk wine and books. Is there anything better? (except for well-executed sex, of course…)

Lexi: I love Dylan Royce as if he were a real rock star. I could hear him singing and was mesmerized by his lyrics.

Ooh, I’m so glad – because I had a real bang-head-on-desk moment when I realized that if my hero was a songwriter, that meant I would have to churn out some lyrics. Which sort of scared me to death.

Lexi: Were there any real life singers that became part of Dylan?

Well, I think it is kind of obvious from the way I describe the clothes, but his original, teeny-bopper group was based on One Direction. Once I made him over into a sex god, that was all my imagination. Or shall I say fantasy?

Lexi: Dylan, Cam, Sam, or Drew. All of your characters feel real and like someone you know which shows your writing talent because these men are from very different careers. What is the biggest difference for you between writing a novella and a novel?

I write long – even for single title. So compressing a well-paced story into a novella is a real struggle for me, because it means cutting down on the secondary characters and the setting (both of which I liberally sprinkle throughout my longer books). The focus has to be much narrower. Flirt, sex, love, out!

Lexi: As with all of your books you have good things to say. What Dylan learns in The Reverse of Perfection is very poignant. It takes a strong personality to be your own person and not let others change you. And you managed to tell his story in 119 pages! The Bad Decisions series are novellas but at any point did you contemplate making this novel length?

Definitely. I’m always tempted to turn a novella into at least 50,000 words. But I had a strategy for this particular series – filling the gap in my release dates when I moved from one publisher to another – so I didn’t have time to write more than novella length (there is the dirty, backstage secret of authors having a business plan, and not just chasing fun ideas!). I plotted the whole series very carefully to be sure that readers would be satisfied with a jam packed but shorter book.

Lexi: Doesn’t matter the length, we love your rock stars. Please tell us there will be more and more of them in the Bad Decisions series!

Yes – book 3, The Other Side of Wrong, is coming in 2017. That will be Jake’s story (who mysteriously disappeared from Riptide at the start of The Reverse of Perfection). Fans are trying to talk me into writing Jones’s story as well……

Lexi: Bring them on! We’ll keep our e-readers ready. Thanks again for stopping by, Christi. We love this series and always love having you here!

Thanks so much for letting me visit – I’m raising a glass of Lambrusco to you!

Dylan Royce, ex-teen pop star, needs a sexy image makeover. His first adult solo album came out under his perfect, white-washed persona and tanked. Joining a band equally famous for their music and their between-the-sheets escapades is only the start. He needs to get raunchy. Sleep with a different girl every night. But there’s only one woman he wants, and she still sees him as a goody two-shoes boy-bander.

Ariel Watson is the publicist in charge of turning Dylan into the sex-god every woman dreams of doing. Frankly, she doesn’t see the appeal. Until one hot kiss changes her mind. Now she wants to keep him for herself--without losing her job. Or losing Dylan the legions of drooling fans she’s supposed to be building for him.

Turning bad got Dylan the woman of his dreams. But how will he choose between her...or his career catapulting him back to superstar status?

And don't miss book #1;
