Halloween Character Costume Party with Julie Ann Walker of Rev It Up! (Character Interview/Giveaway)

And the party keeps on rolling! I hope everyone is having a good time so far, as your hostess please let me know if you need anything. Cocktail? Feathered mask? Tall, sexy, tattooed rabbit? Ah, I see we have a winner! Well then, please give a loud hot and holler for author Julie Ann Walker and her +2 from her release, Rev It Up

Hi, all you romance fans out there!  I'm Julie Ann Walker, author of the bestselling Black Knights Inc. romantic suspense series, and I'm happy to be on Reading Between the Wines, talking to Jake "the Snake" Sommers and Michelle "Shell" Carter about love and life.  So, without further ado...

*Jake and Shell knock and enter office*

Me:  Come in, come in!  I'm so happy to be talking to you two today. *eyes costumes with raised eyebrow as couple settles into chairs*

Jake:  Yo, we gotta make this fast.  Shell and I are already late for a Halloween party at Red Delilah's Biker Bar.

Me:  So, I see. *snickers*  And, let me guess.  Roger and Jessica Rabbit?

Jake:  *winks*  Right on.  I always say Shell is shaped like Jessica Rabbit.  And am I right or am I right?

Shell:  *punches Jake in shoulder*  Cut it out, you big lug.

Jake:   *smiles* It's true, babe.  And I want everyone to see that light you've been hiding under a bushel.

Me:  *letting gaze roam over Shell's skin-tight, floor length, strapless red dress with a slit that reaches to mid-thigh and her purple, over-elbow satin gloves*  I think he's right, Shell.  You are very Jessica Rabbit-esque, especially with your hair dyed that shiny red.

Shell:  *makes face, pulling on hair*  It's a wig.

Jake:  *wiggles eyebrows*  A good wig.  I'm thinking she's gonna have to leave that on tonight after the party and-"  *Shell punches Jake in shoulder again*  "Ow, woman!  Stop abusing me!"

Shell:  Well, stop telling Julie about our sex life!

Jake:  *makes face*  Are you serious?  Have you read REV IT UP?  The woman already knows about our sex life.  She wrote about it.  In detail.

Me:  *clears throat*  Okay, okay.  Let's let that one go, shall we?  And start discussing your outfit, Jake.  For the readers who can't see you, let me describe it.  He's wearing big furry white rabbit feet, white rabbit ears, a blue bowtie and red pants and suspenders over a tight white tank top that shows off the breadth of his shoulders, the muscles in his chest, and the cool snake tattoos on his biceps.

Jake:  *bites cheeks and looks aside in embarrassment, grumbles*  I wanted to do the full-on rabbit suit, but Shell wouldn't let me.

Shell:  *smiles smugly*  If I can't hide my light under a bushel, mister, there's no way in hell I'm letting you hide yours.

Me:  I wholeheartedly agree, Shell.  But before we make the poor man squirm right out of his seat, let's change the subject and talk about how things have been going between you two.  Any bumps in the road since the big secret was revealed?  FYI, don't let on what the big secret is, since there are readers out there who haven't had the opportunity to get their hands on your story...yet.

Shell:  *shrugs*  It's hard.  There's still guilt for me.  *looks over at Jake, heart in her eyes*  And I think there's still hurt for him.  But we're making it work.  We love each other.

Jake:  *leans over to smack kiss on Shell's temple*  That we do, babe.  That we do.

Me:  So then how are things going with Black Knights Inc.?  How are you liking your job there, Jake?  Any new adventures I should know about?

Jake:  *looks at imaginary watch on wrist*  Well, would you look at the time.  *grabs Shell's hand and hoists her from chair*  Sorry, but we gotta go!  Talk to you soon, Julie!

Me:  But wait, I-

*Jake and Shell disappear through office door*

Me:  *throws hands in air*  And that's how it goes with men and women of Black Knights Inc.  Well, thank you Reading Between the Wines for having me on today.  Sorry I couldn't get more out of Jake and Shell.  The Black Knights are frustratingly closed-mouthed.  Grrr...

REV IT UP BY JULIE ANN WALKER – IN STORES OCTOBER 2012

He Never Misses a TargetJake "the Snake" Sommers earned his SEAL codename by striking quickly and quietly - and with lethal force.  That's how he broke Michelle Carter's heart.  It was the only way to keep her safe - from himself.  Four long years later, Jake is determined to get a second chance.  But to steal back into Michelle's loving arms, Jake is going to have to prove he can take things slow.  Real slow...
She Aims to Make Him BegMichelle Carter has never forgiven Jake for being so cliché as to "love her and leave her."  But when her brother, head of the Black Knights elite ops agency, ticks off the wrong mobster, she must do the unimaginable: place her life in Jake's hands.  No matter what they call him, this man is far from cold-blooded.  And once he's wrapped around her heart, he'll never let her go...

  1. Julie, how are you liking being a published author? How has your life changed and what kind of support is your family giving you with all those deadlines? Is it fun getting all those characters out of your head and on to paper?

  2. Hi Do you have any idea on how many books you'll have in the series?

  3. @Glittergirl,

I absolutely LOVE being a published author. I have such fun writing my stories, so it's very rewarding to know that folks are having fun reading them.

And my life has changed in that I'm, as BKI's resident Cajun, Rock Babineaux, would say, busier than a cat covering crap on a marble floor. I used to work 8 hours a day, and now I work 12 - 15! But it's work I adore, so it's totally worth it!

My family is over the moon about my successes. I blush when I know my parents, sisters, nieces, etc. are reading my books, but then I quickly get over it. And my husband proudly posts Facebook updates about my books so much that I think he's losing friends. LOL!

And, as far as getting the characters out of my head, I'd say it's lovely to see them on the page instead. Only problem is, my head just fills up with different characters. :-)

    Cheers!

  4. @Diane,

My plan is 12 books. I don't want to stop until every Black Knights gets his/her happily-ever-after. Of course, that will all depend on if my publisher continues to be happy with my work. LOL!
