Westmore: The Aftermath by Carol Cassada (Character Post)

Good morning and happy Friday-Eve! Today I'd like to welcome special guest, Wayne Braxton, from Carol Cassanda's Westmore novels!

Ladies and gentlemen allow me to introduce myself, my name’s Wayne, and I’m part of the famous Braxton clan, who’s known for their publishing company and world renowned books. My late grandfather Clayton started the company with very little money and a big dream, and now it’s a billion dollar franchise. My father Andrew now runs the company along with my mom Elizabeth, and my uncle Jeff.

Our families rubbed elbows with all sorts of celebrities, politicians, and authors. We’re practically the envy of all the citizens of Westmore. Due to our financial success we’ve enjoyed many luxuries of life. For my sixteenth birthday, I was given a midnight blue Corvette, my most cherished possession. Whenever I feel the need to get away I can just hop on the private jet and travel to one of the many beachfront properties we own, once when I was eighteen I took a group of friends to Mexico for spring break (Shhh, don’t tell my parents.) Even though it seems like my family’s perfect, behind closed doors there’s been plenty of drama.

So, where do I begin?

Let’s start with my grandfather, from his appearance he seemed like a gentle, old man, however he was as cold-hearted as they came. His greatest pleasure was torturing his daughter-in-law, Marie, he didn’t approve of her from the moment she walked through the mansion doors, and made her life extremely difficult. But she wouldn’t be the first or the last to experience his tirades. My dear grandmother Alexis, suffered abuse from him, a secret that she only confided in Aunt Caroline. After grandmother’s untimely death, Caroline accused her father of murder, a fact that’s never been proven or disproven, so stay tuned to see how this story plays out.

Dad and Jeff didn’t believe Caroline’s accusations against their father, they found it hard to believe he could be capable of murder. This caused an estrangement between the siblings, and it’s been over twenty years since they’ve spoken.

You’d think after seeing his own father’s harsh behavior, Andrew would want to be a better man and not follow in his father’s footsteps, yet the opposite occurred. My father is a very controlling man, his behavior is so bad it caused my sisters Courtney and Leslie to leave home and never come back much to the despair of my mother. Andrew and I are constantly butting heads; we have a love-hate relationship. Sometimes I wish we were more like my good friend, Jacob and his father Stan Reynolds, although lately their relationship has been strained due to Jacob’s romance with rocker chick Alicia Green, who I might add is a total fox.

Anyway getting back to Andrew, deep down inside I love my father, and hoped one day we would be able to repair our broken relationship. However, that would soon change, thanks to his betrayal. It all started when he pestered me into joining his company which I refused, because I wanted to branch out on my own. I was in line for a prestigious job for a company in New York, until Andrew meddled in my affairs. He fed a bunch of lies to the employer and caused me to lose the job. As you can probably guess I was angry, that night I confronted him, and we got into a huge fight, which ended with me punching him in the face, and then storming out of the house.

To calm myself, I went on a drive in my Corvette, yet it didn’t do much to rid my mind of thoughts of my father. I became distracted and the next thing I knew there was a car accident, I was fine, but the other car hit a tree. Instead of staying to help the passengers, I panicked and fled the scene, a stupid move on my part.

My conscience was already weighing heavily, but it has now increased since I learned Alicia; Jacob’s girlfriend was a passenger in the car along with her brother Scott. Now Alicia’s fighting for survival as Jacob and her family rallies around her, while I’m forced to live with the guilt of knowing I’ve caused pain to others, just like my father. And once my secret is out in the open, I’ll become a pariah in the public eye, and will have a target on my back. But that’s just one of the burdens of being a Braxton, a life filled with drama.

In the eagerly anticipated sequel, a car accident changes the lives of the families of Westmore. One family comes together as one of their own fights for survival. While another family rallies together to protect a relative from prison. What happens when secrets are revealed? Find out in Westmore: The Aftermath.

I'm just a young woman from the small town of Ringgold, VA who's living her dream of being a writer.

In December 2008 I started my first book Going Home Again, which was released February 24, 2010  by Romance Divine. I can't tell you how wonderful it felt, to have my work published was a dream come true.

Now my second book Westmore, the first in a line of volumes is about to be released. This time I went the self publishing route with Createspace. I'm currently working on Volume 2 of Westmore and hope to have it out by the end of the year.

Aside from my love of reading and writing, I enjoy spending time with my supportive parents, my two brother who love to tease me, and my three dogs and two cats.
