Tour: Deadly Pursuit by Nina Croft (Guest Post & Giveaway)

Welcome back lovelies! Today I'd like to welcome author Nina Croft who is stopping by on her book tour for the newest release in her Blood Hunter series, Deadly Pursuit! Nina is a new favorite author of mine who has created a fantastical world of exciting space adventures with sexy vampires and werewolves! I think Nina fits right in here at RBtW so I hope you'll enjoy her post! P.S. You can check out my review on this series *here*

I love the title of this blog – reading between the wines – it pretty much sums up my life – well reading and writing between the wines.
I’m Nina Croft. I’m English, but I live on an almond farm in the mountains of southern Spain. And on the farm, I have a small vineyard, which clings to the side of a mountain (so steep it has to be ploughed by mules) where I grow grapes and make red wine (my beverage of choice). Not on a big scale, just enough to keep us going – 500 liters or so.

I spend a lot of time talking about writing, so I’ll make a little detour here and talk briefly about wine making.  I love making wine, it’s like magic, and it’s really quite easy as long as you have lots of sunshine. All you do is grow the grapes, pick them (that’s the hard work, and we normally get the neighbors in to help), crush them, squeeze them, put the juice in a big barrel, and that’s it. There is natural yeast in the atmosphere here (in fact we’ve come to the conclusion that the air is around 14% proof—that’s my excuse anyway) so you don’t need to add anything. Some time later—you have wine.  Then you drink it!

Anyway, enough of wine (though honestly, it’s a fascinating subject) and on to why I’m really here, which is to talk about my latest release: Deadly Pursuit.
Deadly Pursuit is book 2 in my Blood Hunter series.
The series follows the adventures, romantic and otherwise, of the crew of the space ship, El Cazador de la Sangre, which means Blood Hunter in Spanish.
The novels are set in a future where man has fled to the stars (and on the subject of alcohol—in the future it’s been banned as deleterious to human health—though like me—the crew brew their own!) and there they have discovered the secret of immortality—Meridian. Extremely rare and exorbitantly expensive, Meridian is available only to a select few, and a new class has evolved—the Collective—super-rich and immortal, they rule the universe.
But as well as being science fiction, the Blood Hunter series also has a paranormal twist (I think I might have been lying under a fig tree, imbibing some of that wine, and thinking that absolutely anything is possible, when it came to the planning of this series.)
Book one, Break Out, focuses on Ricardo Sanchez, owner and pilot of El Cazador, who also happens to be a vampire and how he finds love with the beautiful, but mysterious, Skylar Rossario, who employs the crew to break her brother out of the Collective’s maximum security prison.
Book two, Deadly Pursuit, takes place in the fallout from Break out and follows the story of Skylar’s “brother”, Jonathon Decker, ex-prisoner and assassin who also just happens to be a werewolf, and who finds himself pursued by a very unlikely member of the crew.

Okay back to winemaking… or maybe wine drinking…

Irreverent. Irresponsible. Insatiable. Who says immortals can't have any fun?
The year is 3048, Earth is no longer habitable, and man has fled to the stars where they’ve discovered the secret of immortality—Meridian. Unfortunately, the radioactive mineral is exorbitantly expensive and only available to a select few. A new class comprised of the super rich and immortal soon evolves. The Collective, as they’re called, rule the universe.
Two-thousand-year-old Ricardo Sanchez, vampire and rogue pilot of the space cruiser, El Cazador, can’t resist two things: gorgeous women and impossible jobs. Being hunted by the Collective has never been so dangerous–or so fun!

BLOOD HUNTER SERIES - Book Two by Nina Croft
Breaking assassin Jonathon Decker out of a maximum security prison on Trakis One seemed like a good idea at the time. Now, pursued across space by the two most powerful factions in the universe, the crew of El Cazador are having second thoughts. They’d like to give him back. Unfortunately, that no longer seems an option.
Jon is used to working alone. Now, he’s stuck on the space cruiser El Cazador until he can work out just what he’s supposed to know that puts him on everybody’s most-wanted-dead list. He’s not happy that the crew includes a runaway priestess with designs on his virtue—such as it is. Jon likes women, but he gave up the role of protector a long time ago, and Alexia, High Priestess of the Church of Everlasting Life, is an accident waiting to happen.
After twenty-four excruciatingly boring years of doing her duty, Alex is finally having some fun. She never meant to run away—it was a rash impulse—and she means to go back—eventually. But first, she’s going to squeeze enough excitement out of the situation to last her a lifetime. And what could be more exciting than a stunningly gorgeous werewolf?
Meanwhile, the Church are chasing their missing priestess, and the Collective are pursuing their escaped assassin. Being hunted has never been more deadly…or more fun.

About the Author:
Nina Croft grew up in the north of England. After training as an accountant, she spent four years working as a volunteer in Zambia which left her with a love of the sun and a dislike of 9-5 work. She then spent a number of years mixing travel (whenever possible) with work (whenever necessary) but has now settled down to a life of writing and picking almonds on a remote farm in the mountains of southern Spain.
Nina’s writing mixes romance with elements of the paranormal and science fiction.

  2. What a nice blog site! And what a great post!

I've made my fair share of wine, too. My father-in-law grows the grapes in his yard and every year it's a family get-together sort of tradition. :)

  3. That sounds so fun! I'd love to actually see the whole wine making process in action. I wonder if the alcohol level varies depending on how the wine is made. Any thoughts?

  6. Thanks for hosting me here today, Crystal!

Irene - they're my favorite genres as well!

J.K. - it's a great thing to do isn't it - very sociable - and the drinking is as well!

Clarissa - what really determines the alcohol level- at least here where we are very nontechnical - is the sweetness of the grapes. If they are very sweet they make very strong wine (as long as you allow all the sugar to ferment) so you check before you pick for sweetness.

Kara - so glad you enjoyed Break Out!

Erin - hope you enjoy Break Out!
