Tour: Be My Everything by Ella Jade (Interview)

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Saturday! Today I'd like to welcome author Ella Jade over for an interview on her tour for Be My Everything, her new erotic release!

Crystal: Welcome Ella, I’m so excited to be participating in your tour for your recent release of Be My Everything! Can you start off by telling our readers a little something about yourself please?

Ella: Thanks so much for having me.
I've been a writer for as long as I can remember. The plots and dialogue have always played out in my head but I never knew what to do with them. It wasn't until I discovered the eBooks industry did that all change for me. I was thrilled to find a place to house my stories and share them with so many.
I'm a SAHM to two active boys who keep me really busy. When I'm not writing (which isn't often) I like to kick box, scrapbook and spend time with my husband and kids.

Crystal: What can readers expect from your new erotic tale, Be My Everything?

Ella: It's definitely erotic;) Dominant/submissive themes play a big part in this story, but it isn't a hardcore BDSM novel. It's ultimately a love story with the two characters growing and finding out exactly what they want out of their relationship as the book progresses.

Crystal: When starting a novel, what comes to you first; plot or characters?

Ella: Strangely, it's dialogue. I've built entire books around a few sentences of dialogue. Be My Everything is one of those books. I heard Lucas, the main character, say, "Why not have your boyfriend tie you to the bed? It would be much easier than going through all of this."
I thought that was sexy, and the story was born.

Crystal: What inspired you to write a story based on BDSM themes?

Ella: I have a weak spot for sexy, controlling, dominant men. In romance novels, you can't always get away with a man having certain desires or wanting to do different things in the bedroom without having a willing participant, especially if it doesn't fit into the confines of the story. I find when writing those dominant scenes, it should be in character for my male hero.  I wanted to write a man who was controlling and take charge in the bedroom, but I also wanted to create a strong female character. In this particular relationship, my couple became sexual first and then realized there was something more to what they were feeling. The BDSM themes helped me tell the story.

Crystal: Did you have to do any research before or while writing? And if so, what kind?

Ella: Yes, especially with the BDSM themes. As I said, this isn't a hardcore D/s novel and I took some liberties to tell the story, but I still had to get an understanding of the lifestyle. Google is amazing. I read so many articles and tried to see both the Dominant and the submissive POV. It's all very intriguing.

Crystal: What kind of readers to you think Be My Everything will appeal to, and what do you think they’ll like best about this book?

Ella: I hope it appeals to the readers who enjoy a good love story. Luke and Katherine don’t have a conventional relationship, but there is something between them from the very beginning.  They have sexual chemistry but I think the reader will pick up the "love connection" early on even if Luke can't figure it out right away.

Crystal: As an author, is it as steamy to write an erotic tale as it is for us readers to read it?

Ella: Yeah! It gets pretty steamy for me. That's how I know I'm doing it right. Lol But, after writing it, editing it, rewriting it and editing it some more something gets lost in translation. But, yes, the first time I create a steamy scene I'm always like, "I wrote that?"
Is there anything that you must have in order to write? What is your writing process like?
I need total silence. It’s the only way I can run the dialogue and make sure it sounds realistic. Of course, I need my laptop. It usually follows me from room to room. And, I find my netbook is a great tool, especially when I'm at my kids sporting practices. You never know when inspiration will hit.

Crystal: As a new author, what has the journey been like for you from aspiring writing to published author?

Ella: It's been an amazing journey. I had no idea my writing career would take off this fast. Last year at this time, I hadn't even submitted one manuscript yet, and by this December I'll have four books out. It's crazy, but I'm loving every second of it and I have so many more stories to tell.

Crystal: Lastly, what’s next for Ella Jade?

Ella: Lots!  I have three WIP's going and I'm hoping to have one submitted by November. I have two upcoming releases. The Lonely Dominant, another BDSM romance, is scheduled for release on November 14, 2011 with Noble Romance and my first m/m Embracing the Unexpected is due out in December with Beachwalk Press. Thank you so much for joining us today Ella, congratulations on your release and best of luck to you in your future endeavors!
