Torn between duty and survival, nothing can be the same.

Everything Ivy Morgan thought she knew has been turned on its head. After being betrayed and then nearly killed by the Prince of the Fae, she’s left bruised and devastated—and with an earth-shattering secret that she must keep at all costs. And if the Order finds out her secret, they’ll kill her.

Then there’s Ren Owens, the sexy, tattooed Elite member of the Order who has been sharing Ivy’s bed and claiming her heart. Their chemistry is smoking hot, but Ivy knows that Ren has always valued his duty to the Order above all else—he could never touch her if he knew the truth. That is, if he let her live at all. Yet how can she live with herself if she lies to him?

But as the Fae Prince begins to close in, intent on permanently opening the gates to the Otherworld, Ivy is running out of options. If she doesn’t figure out who she can trust—and fast—it’s not only her heart that will be torn apart, but civilization itself.

Crystal's Thoughts: *Warning: This review may contain spoilers if you have not read Wicked. You can catch our review for book #1 -HERE-.

Readers return to the dangerous, and fae-ridden French Quarter in the much-anticipated follow-up to Jennifer L. Armentrout's 2014 release, Wicked. Where Ivy Morgan, Order member and Fae hunter, has discovered a life-changing truth that could not only tear apart her own world, but the world around her as well...

Torn begins mere seconds after Wicked closes, throwing the reader right back into the tumultuous mental state that our heroine understandably finds herself in. With such a large time gap between books one and two, it did take me a while to find my bearings again in the story, as there was no recapping. But once I found my footing, JLA's wickedly talented writing swept me away!

Everyone seems to be hiding secrets in Ivy's little tight-knit group, and she is no exception. With her growing feelings for a certain handsome, green-eyed Elite member, Ivy struggles keeping her own secret to herself. Does she confide in Ren and risk him turning away from her? Or worse, turning her in to the Order? With a nefarious fae Prince breathing down her neck, everything is at stake for Ivy! Thankfully there is some much-needed tension breaking humor sprinkled throughout thanks to our resident brownie. The witty and sardonic banter between Ivy and Twink, and then Ren and Twink made for some laugh-out-loud moments. Ren and Ivy get equal amounts of romance in between all of the action and mystery, connecting you further with this bad-ass, fae-fighting couple.

The last half of Torn absolutely gutted me, my heart ached for Ivy and all that she was put through. But she is a strong, resilient character who perseveres over adversity again and again. And while I wanted to shake her several times during the story (Because it shouldn't have taken her that long to figure it out!!!) I couldn't love her character more. I am beyond invested in each of these unforgettable and engaging characters, and I can't wait to read the conclusion to Ivy and Ren's story, though I know I won't want it to end. A Wicked Saga is a must-read series for JLA, new adult, fantasy, and paranormal romance fans. Even if faeries aren't usually you're cup of tea, the author does not get deep into the normally complex fae history, so don't let that scare you off! Pick up Wicked and Torn today!
